OPGI complete grill with bmw style halo headlights. Paint and body work were completed by previous owner a couple of years ago and is in good condition- not flawless, but done well. Little to no filler was used. I went over every square inch with a magnet before I bough the car and could only find a few small skims-Solid Cali car not a bondo baby. Newer fuel tank, straps and sending unit. Original front and rear bumpers in good condition. All the trim and moldings are new from OPGI with the exception of the rear cab molding that is original and in good condition for its age- could be re chromed or replaced to be perfect. All the badges are original but the 350 badges on the front fenders. All the glass is in good shape. New bowtie mirrors. All new OPGI door hinges, door seals, window channel felt, window felts inner and outer, wing window rubber, wing window swivel locks and pin, door strikers, rubber door stops, door handle/locks and inner door seal. The bed was stripped and Dupli-color bed liner was applied. The smugglers box is fully customized with dual electric actuators that open and close the smugglers box. The operation switch is hidden in the cab. The smugglers box houses the duel remote Interstate batteries in aluminum Taylor boxes, dual polished VIAIR 480C air compressors, polished aluminum mounting plate, 10 gal polished aluminum air tank. The Parker 1/2 air valves, AVS Digital pressure sensors (all 4 corners and tanks with led display in cab), Slam Specialties dump controller ( manual valves that allows control of how fast or slow the car lays down), and electrical are hidden in the body behind the battery boxes. The air suspension is full 4 corner independently controlled with a seven switch AVS controller mounted in the ash tray or can be taken out of the ash tray as its has a 4 ft leash that hides behind the dash. NO it does not hop and bounce and do 3 wheel motion. The frame is untouched and NOT cut or hacked on. It is desigined to ride smooth and lay down at shows. It is a factory a/c equipped but is not hook up. The evaporator is installed and has been serviced and ready to go. It will need a a/c compressor, condenser, lines and a/c control panel or a complete Vintage air kit. I left the a/c for last because sourcing original parts was becoming a pain and I could not make up my mind on original or a Vintage air kit. Front Suspension/Steering/Brakes: Hotchkis upper/lower control arms and front sway bar. Factory p/s with ProForged rag joint, pitman arm, center link, inner and outer tie rods. The previous owner bought it in 1976 with 81k on it from the original owner and drove it till 99 when the original 283 went sour at 168k miles. It sat in his garage until he started restoring it 2008. I bought it in 2011 in pieces and boxes. I believe the mileage on the body and chassis to be correct at 171968. Dash and door panel tops are base/cleared in black. Original 67 dash pad in good shape- couldn't justify buying a new one and throwing the original out. Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors
Wed, Oct 22 2014Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz
Cadillac CT6 production ceases January 2020 as part of D-Ham layoffs
Fri, Dec 6 2019General Motors filed paperwork under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act with Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity this week, detailing events to come at the automaker's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Starting February 28, 814 salaried and hourly workers at D-Ham, as its called, will be laid off. The 753 workers represented by the UAW will begin receiving offers in January to relocate to facilities in Michigan and Ohio, or buyout offers. As the 4-million-square-foot plant winds down through April 3 to a skeleton crew, the Cadillac CT6 ceases production in January 2020, and the last Chevrolet Impala comes off the line on February 28. The loss of the CT6 represents the end of Cadillac's latest brief, and highly regarded, adventure into flagship sedans. It might also mean the end of the 4.2-liter Blackwing twin-turbo V8 engine, at least for the moment. Both casualties are calamities. The death of the Impala closes the door on a nameplate in production for 52 years since 1957, having started off as a top-tier trim for the 1958 Bel Air known as the Bel Air Impala, once advertised with the line, "Lets you know you're the boss." As part of the new four-year labor agreement with the UAW, GM is keeping D-Ham open to build a new line of battery-electric vehicles, ultimately investing $3 billion and tripling employment to 2,225 workers when fully operational. The agreement described the coming EV as a "van" that would commence production in late 2021, but various reports say what's actually coming is a range of premium EVs in pickup and SUV bodystyles under the program codename BT1. The easy predictions put an electric GMC Sierra and Cadillac Escalade among the EV fold, but not until 2023, according to auto industry forecaster LMC Automotive. Before that, LMC claims an electric van will debut in late 2021, along with a battery-powered rebirth of the Hummer brand in pickup and SUV forms, also in late 2021.Â
