1965 Chevelle/el Camino One Of A Kind 2 Owner Very Special Car Garaged on 2040-cars
Burbank, California, United States
No Reserve The highest bidder owns this El Camino. I bought this car off the original owner in factory original condition 1994. I restored it, showed it, drove it and garaged it over years, the last picture of the car was taken on our drive way in 1995. I have a file full of receipts including the protect-o-plate and original sales receipt etc.. I am letting go of the car without a reserve for personal reasons. I restore classic 60's cars and this el camino is my own personal car. 1965 chevelle/el camino with mostly all it's original parts from the factory. And some non original items such as the front seat upholstery, floor mats, cigarette lighter, radio antenna, engine and drive train. Local California car with no rust bought in Van Nuys California. I had the car lowered 2 inches all around back in 1996 or so. The body is super straight. Recent (less than a year old) 383 4 bolt main stroker engine with all the go fast goodies hand built by myself that's barley broken in with less than 200 miles, B&M turbo 350 3 speed automatic with shift kit and 2500 stall converter, a posi-traction with 411 geared rear end, from back in 1996 all refreshed. The brakes on the car are the factory manual all drum (never upgraded), recently replaced but the car can use a power disc brake conversion kit. The under side of the car looks just as nice as the rest. Exterior and steering wheel were sprayed a sea foam green from hot rod flatz a couple of years back, the dash and door jams were not. The paint has very minor nicks caused by road debris in about five areas, (would need to be up close to see). The front two eyebrow molding around the headlights were bent when installed, also the interior dome light lens is missing (see pic). Everything works lights, signals, radio etc.. The stereo system in the glove box is just the custom box an empty alpine face cover box a pioneer remote and there is a older alpine cd changer in the back along with the cables that were ran all come with the car (the actual stereo system I removed a long time ago). Rims, tires, shocks, trim, paint, moldings, chrome, bumpers are all like new condition. Current registration, ready to be enjoyed and driven (not sitting parked in a garage). The looks Great and always gets attention when out. It is super fast, lots of torque. Overall a beautiful very clean reliable hot rod. I am very sad to let her go but I must. One thing I can say for sure is the new owner is going to be VERY happy. Please feel free to contact me with questions or to come see the car before bidding. Please leave a message and I will call back. I have the car up for sale locally as well. Thank you (818) 427-2800

IIHS: High numbers of drivers treat partially automated cars as fully self-driving
Tue, Oct 11 2022WASHINGTON — Drivers using advanced driver assistance systems like Tesla Autopilot or General Motors Super Cruise often treat their vehicles as fully self-driving despite warnings, a new study has found. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an industry funded group that prods automakers to make safer vehicles, said on Tuesday a survey found regular users of Super Cruise, Nissan/Infiniti ProPILOT Assist and Tesla Autopilot "said they were more likely to perform non-driving-related activities like eating or texting while using their partial automation systems than while driving unassisted." The IIHS study of 600 active users found 53% of Super Cruise, 42% of Autopilot and 12% of ProPILOT Assist owners "said that they were comfortable treating their vehicles as fully self-driving." About 40% of users of Autopilot and Super Cruise — two systems with lockout features for failing to pay attention — reported systems had at some point switched off while they were driving and would not reactivate. "The big-picture message here is that the early adopters of these systems still have a poor understanding of the technologyÂ’s limits," said IIHS President David Harkey. The study comes as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is scrutinizing Autopilot crashes. Since 2016, the NHTSA has opened 37 special investigations involving 18 deaths in crashes involving Tesla vehicles and where systems like Autopilot were suspected of use. Tesla did not respond to requests for comment. Tesla says Autopilot does not make vehicles autonomous and is intended for use with a fully attentive driver who is prepared to take over. GM, which in August said owners could use Super Cruise on 400,000 miles (643,740 km) of North American roads and plans to offer Super Cruise on 22 models by the end of 2023, did not immediately comment. IIHS said advertisements for Super Cruise focus on hands-free capabilities while Autopilot evokes the name used in passenger airplanes and "implies TeslaÂ’s system is more capable than it really is." IIHS in contrast noted ProPILOT Assist "suggests that itÂ’s an assistance feature, rather than a replacement for the driver." NHTSA and automakers say none of the systems make vehicles autonomous. Nissan said its name "is clearly communicating ProPILOT Assist as a system to aid the driver, and it requires hands-on operation.
GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado diesels finally heading to dealers
Fri, Jan 1 2016Customers who have been waiting to receive their diesel-powered Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons should be relived to hear that GM will finally start to ship them out of the Wentzville Assembly Plant. "The highly anticipated 2016 GMC Canyon diesel has begun shipping to dealers," a company spokesperson confirmed to The Detroit News. The trucks originally had a fall launch date, but a final review forced a delay in deliveries. The 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel in the midsize trucks produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the company touts the engine's low emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board even put the mill through extra scrutiny with a real world test in the wake of VW's diesel scandal, and the Duramax passed with no problems. At that time, a Chevy spokesperson told Autoblog that the models' launch was on track. The Duramax engine adds $3,730 to the price of a comparable V6 model, but they're the most fuel-efficient pickups on the market. The EPA estimates the twins at 31 miles per gallon highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined in two-wheel drive form and 29/20/23 with four-wheel drive. Buyers likely can't wait to finally experience these pickups after reading a heap of positive reviews. The Colorado diesel recently earned Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award. We also came away impressed with it during our First Drive and liked the Canyon during our Quick Spin. Related Video:
