1962 Chevrolet Impala 283 V8 Auto Coupe Red Power Windows Steering Brakes L@@k on 2040-cars
Fair Oaks, California, United States
Up for sale is a nice 2 door impala. This is a PROJECT car that is mostly complete, missing a few trim pieces. This vehicle was repainted at some point, but the paint started to crack near the rear window/quarter areas. Looks like there is some bondo in those areas, not sure how much though. This was assembled in the LA plant here in CA and it looks like it never left. This vehicle was purchased in the condition that it is in now, so I am not sure what kind of history it has. If there are specific areas you want pictures of or info about, contact me prior to purchase so that we can avoid any issues later.
This is a running vehicle with a 283 V8 and a 3 speed auto transmission. Comes with power steering, power brakes and power windows. All windows roll up/down. The trunk opens, but requires effort to keep it open. Looks like one of the retainer springs is either missing or detached. Looks like someone had a sound system in the car before because it's wired for subs in the trunk and dynomat in the trunk too. The interior is mostly all there with the exception of the kick panels, the right sun visor and possibly a few other small things i’m not remembering. The carpet will need to be changed (worn through on drivers side), the radio will need to be looked at (doesn’t turn on), the door panels are there but they show wear, the steering wheel/column have cracks, and the front seat has cigarette burn marks. Needs weather stripping and possible upholstery work. With some time and effort this can be a great show car or a great weekend cruiser for those hot august nights. This is a highly desirable year and it’s getting harder to find one that is complete and running. This impala is not rust free, but the rust it has is mainly surface rust and it’s in the usual spots. This is a 52 year old car, so it's not perfect. If you’re not sure about something or would like more info/pictures, send me an email and I’ll to my best to answer your inquiries. This vehicle is also listed locally, so I reserve the right to end this sale at any time if it sells. PLEASE NOTE: The buyer is responsible for arranging tow/shipping for this vehicle. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO FOR A MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION ON CONDITION: |

Recharge Wrap-up: Panasonic, Tesla on Gigafactory deal?
Tue, Jul 29 2014Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels." GM diesel pickups first to undergo extra EPA, CARB testing
Tue, Sep 29 2015The effects of Volkswagen's long-running diesel emissions evasion are starting to spill over to other automakers, but General Motors is taking things in stride. The 2.8-liter, four-cylinder Duramax in the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon is the first engine to get extra scrutiny by the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, Automotive News reports. Rather than just the usual in-lab test, it's also being checked on the road. However, the extra evaluation shouldn't have any impact on when the trucks with his mill hit dealers later this fall. "We're in our final stages of the EPA certification, and our launch is on track," Chevy spokesperson Otie McKinley tells Autoblog. The four-cylinder diesel in the trucks makes 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the automaker is touting low NOx production. In the announcement for the Colorado's specs, the company calls it "the cleanest diesel truck engine ever produced by General Motors." The tech includes exhaust gas recirculation to lower combustion temperatures and improve emissions. There's also a urea tank like on the bigger diesels for full-size trucks, and it gets refilled in time with oil changes. An indication on the instrument panel lets drivers know when that's needed, too. Even with the more demanding testing, the company doesn't seem too worried about the four-cylinder passing. "Part of our development process is on-road and off-road [laboratory] testing," Scott Yackley, Chevy Trucks assistant chief engineer, said to Automotive News. In the wake of the VW scandal, the EPA has pledged more rigorous testing. Before, on-road emissions evaluations were largely limited to heavy-duty vehicles, but the agency has decided to apply the checks more often to other models. There's also now greater cooperation with Canadian authorities.
Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale
Wed, Dec 17 2014Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.
