Florida car currently in Iowa for the summer.  With a little TLC could be show-car quality; only selling because I want to upgrade to a C5 or C6.

New interior from Ecklers -- seats (with original 40th Anniversary logo), carpet, sun visors; almost flawless paint, except for a few road nicks on the front bumper.  Features include: 5.7 Liter 300 HP V8 Engine ,Automatic transmission with multi-port fuel injection, Acceleration Slip Regulation, Power Rack & Pinion steering, Power front and rear disc brakes, one piece removable clear roof panel, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Rear window defogger, cruise control, Steering Wheel-Leather Wrapped, Analog/Digital instrumentation, Air Bag - Driver , ABS anti-lock brakes, Tilt Wheel, Temperature-controlled Electronic Air Conditioning, Delco/Bose music system with CD & Cassette, 6 way power Bucket Seats (driver), dual electric remote heated and power operated outside rearview mirrors w/convex "bllind spot" on drivers side, Mirrors-Vanity-driver and passenger, Wheels-Bright Aluminum, Fog Lights, Reading Lamps-Front, Intermittent Wipers and remote glass rear hatch release. Currently Registered, with Clean title, driven every day.

Runs strong, great looker, a real head-turner.  Lots of compliments, and folks not familiar with Corvettes can't believe the age when I tell them.  Non-smoking car.  Everything works except for the power door locks, power antenna (have a temporary replacement on there now), and the CD player.  (Radio works fine.)  New tires in 2011 with only about 12000 miles on them.  All repair and maintenance records for the past three years.  I have owned this car for three years; the previous owner, a "senior citizen" like me, owned it for I think 7.  I've put about 15,000 miles on it with very few issues, all of them minor.  Most C4's have much more obvious wear and tear than this one.  Sorry for the poor quality pictures; my camera isn't the best.

Kelly Blue Book value with 81k miles is $13184 private party, $15884 dealer, NADA $12700 to $17100.  (NADA and KBB price estimates available at nadaguides.com and kbb.com.)  CARFAX report is clean, and available upon request.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
