What you are viewing is a future collector car. This car has super low miles (8200) which was the reason we bought it. The owner was local and we pounced on it when we saw it. Our plan was to baby it, take it on a few long trips and enjoy it, but our plans have changed and it is time for someone else to enjoy it. Our reserve is very reasonable for an all original C-5 with this few of miles. Since we purchased this beautiful Speedway White time capsule of a car, I have replaced the battery, changed the oil with Mobile One, and had professionally installed a 3M invisible shield for the front to avoid those nasty bugs and stone chips. It was too perfect to have survived for 15 years to be ruined. I figured if I could save it for $500; it was money well spent. It spends most of its days hanging out in our heated insulated barn where it is covered and on the battery maintainer. We only drive it on sunny days on main roads and we never leave the car unattended. So far, this summer, we have put about 50 miles on it. I have never washed the car with water and the previous owner stated it had never been in the rain. It is never left outside at night. The only problems that I see with the car is that the passenger door won’t unlock with the remote or the switch, we just reach across and unlock it. I suspect it is the module? $65 to repair it? There are two small scratches, one about three inches behind the gas door and another just above the right rear side marker light. The seals and door gaskets are in excellent shape. The engine runs smooth with no smoke or strange noises. We debated about adding louder exhaust but decided to keep it stock. All the lights operate as they should, the headlight doors open perfectly with no noises. The interior looks and smells like new. As you can see from the photos, I have the original owner’s manual, two key fobs, and an unopened video tape. The seats look fantastic and they are really much more comfortable than I imagined. One thing about the car that we really enjoy is the HEADS UP DISPLAY. Why doesn’t every car have this? We have only had the top off once, for a road trip. The other time I had it off for a parade. Personally, we would rather have the top on with the A/C on full blast. Super cold. This is a great opportunity to own a super car for less than half the price of a new mustang. The engine and transmission combination is perfect and powerful. This is a reliable car that you could load up and take off on a long trip. It runs great and starts perfectly. We hate to see it go, but we cannot keep them all. Right now we get our insurance from the Corvette Museum and it costs about $500 a year with guaranteed value. We live in Michigan, so we have to pay the ridiculous catastrophic claims fee which is almost half the premium. Thanks for checking out our beautiful C-5.

Top Gear names BMW i8 Car of the Year, Corvette, Ferrari, Mercedes also win big
Fri, Dec 5 2014The lads at Top Gear have released their listing of the finest cars of the past year, handing the ultimate honor to BMW's revolutionary i8 plug-in-hybrid supercar. "The i8 is a milestone in the annals of automotive history and a glorious statement for an exciting and positive future. The i8 delivers - and then some," the British mag wrote. The i8, though, was far from the only hybridized car to take victories. James May and Richard Hammond both highlighted hybrids as their personal cars of the year, with May saluting the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Hamster, unsurprisingly, heaping praise on the Porsche 918 Spyder. Jeremy Clarkson, meanwhile, opted to shock many by selecting not only an American car as his best of 2014, but giving the honor to of all things, a Corvette. Clarkson wasn't the only person to honor the USA's iconic sports car, with the new, 650-horsepower Z06 variant being named TG's Muscle Car of the Year. Other big winners include Mercedes-Benz, which TG honored for S-Class Coupe (Luxury Car of the Year), the new AMG GT (Sports Car of the Year) and the not-for-US C-Class Estate (Family Car of the Year). The 458 Italia Speciale A snagged a second win for Ferrari. The best of the rest include the Citroen C4 Cactus, Renault Twingo, Volkswagen Golf R, Lamborghini Huracan and Audi TT. Take a look below for the celebratory press blast from BMW. The BMW i8 wins Top Gear Car of the Year The BMW i8 has been named as Top Gear magazine's global Car of the Year 2014. The plug-in hybrid performance vehicle beat off some stiff competition from a host of other premium and luxury manufacturers to win the overall award. The editorial team of Top Gear commended the BMW i8 for its breadth of abilities. Its 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor gives searing acceleration and driver enjoyment but all wrapped in a package that takes BMW's EfficientDynamics philosophy to the extreme courtesy of CO2 emissions less than 49g/km and a 135mpg combined cycle figure. Charlie Turner, Editor in Chief at Top Gear magazine, said: "The BMW is a milestone in the annals of automotive history and a glorious statement for an exciting and positive future. The i8 delivers – and then some. It's the kind of car we should celebrate, a beautiful vision of the future, delivered now.
Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Sat, Oct 9 2021During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
2014 Corvette Stingray meets Tesla Model S in drag strip showdown
Wed, Jan 29 2014They come from two different worlds and have little in common. The Tesla Model S P85 is the sportiest version of this paradigm-punching sedan from California, while the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 is a performance-enhanced version of Michigan's recently-updated sports car stalwart. The West Coast car seats five adults and eats electrons like Popeye eats spinach, the Easterner has two passenger places and, surprisingly, sips gasoline like one might bourbon. An attribute they do happen to share is extreme quickness. This similarity is all the excuse Drag Times needed to set the vehicles beside each other at the Palm Beach International Raceway for a bit of mano-a-mano quarter-mile combat. Fortunately enough, cameras were rolling for each of two bouts down the blacktop and the results recorded for our edification and enlightenment. The winner? We won't spoil it for you, but let's just say it's really, really close. How close? Scroll below and watch the video for yourself. Just be warned, the results may surprise you.
