Chevrolet: Corvette on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
2005 C6 Z51 Coupe, with just over 53k miles. Im still driving this car off and on, but only to keep it in tip top condition for the next owner. It will be cleaned inside and out upon pick-up/delivery. Performance: Motor: LS2 6.0L(400hp stock), probably pushing around 450hp with the mods. It stays even with a 2005 Shelby GT500. It is equipped with the Z51 performance package that adds a stiffer suspension, performance tires, upgraded braking system, performance transmission gearing, and a transmission oil cooler! These upgrades make a significant difference in the driving experience over a base model Corvette. I put new ceramic brake pads on the front a couple thousands miles ago.Firestone tires: The fronts could probably go another 5 thousand miles, depending how you drive it. The rears have a couple thousand miles on them. I replaced them last year. The fronts cost around $125 each and the rears cost around $250 each, so a full set of firestones are around $1000.B&B bullet exhaust, pretty much the loudest but best sounding exhaust for this car on market. I do have the stock exhaust to throw in. Ram air with a K&N or similar filter. For those that are not familiar: ram air means that the faster you go, the more air you are sucking into the engine, so more available power on highways. Diablo Sport programmer, running premium octane diablo tune. The c6’s come stock with a fuel-saving feature that forces you to shift from 1st to 4th gear when driving normal. I installed a relay that disables this feature so you are free to shift into any gear, whenever you want. All recalls have been serviced. I havent touched the navigation software, mainly because I never use it for that purpose. Exterior/interior: 1SB interior package: touchscreen nav/cd unit(XM radio capable) BUT I do have an aux cord assembly hooked up to it so you can listen to your own music via a aux cord, drivers side memory package, head-up display(which is probably my favorite feature), home link transmitter, auto dimming mirrors with compass power telescopic steering column, heated driver and passenger seats. It has corvette logo carpet floor mats and trunk mat. The speakers are aftermarket, the brand is Hertz. I’d say they’re definitely comparable or better than Bose. plexiglass/tinted transparent roofGrey leather seats/ Silver exterior.Chrome corvette license plate frame for the rear. No license place on the front but I do have a detachable license plate bracket, that I never installed, I can throw in. Breathable car cover. Chrome front grill2 key Fobs (1 and 2) Keyless entryTinted windows, 35% in the front and 20% on the back. Wear and tear: It does have a 1 inch scratch on the right back panel, around a 2 inch scrape on the bottom of the driver-side door, and some type of mark in plastic on the middle console area, between the shifter, cupholders, and airbag light. The transparent sunroof does have stress marks in areas on it. And there are a few tiny nicks in the paint in the front of the car from normal highway use. Also, there are a few scratches on the front left headlight, from the previous owner. No idea how they got there but its never bothered me. Note: this is how the car always looks. I didnt clean it for these pictures, I just take care of my possessions. Its only been rained on three times in the last 7 years Ive owned it. Please contact me if you would like more pictures, or have any questions. Thanks for looking!

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
Question of the Day: What's the most irritating car name?
Wed, Mar 9 2016You hear a lot about how the Chevrolet Nova was a sales flop in Mexico because "No va" means "it doesn't go" in Spanish; in fact, the Nova sold pretty well south of the border, and in any case most Spanish-speakers know that "Nova" means "new" in Latin and Portuguese. However, General Motors doesn't deserve to be let off the hook for bad car names, because the Oldsmobile Achieva— no doubt inspired by the excruciating "coffee achievers" ads of the 1980s— scrapes the biggest fingernails down the screechiest chalkboard in the US-market car-name world. That is, unless you think Daihatsu's incomprehensible choice of Charade was worse. Meanwhile, Japanese car buyers could get machines with cool names like Mazda Bongo Friendee or Honda Life Dunk. It's just not fair! So, what car name drives you the craziest? Related Video: Auto News Design/Style Chevrolet Honda Mazda Daihatsu Automotive History questions car names
Motor Trend wheels the 2015 Corvette Z06
Tue, Nov 25 2014The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is capable of some absolutely wild metrics. Want proof? Carlos Lago from Motor Trend is here to break it all down. 60 miles per hour? 3.2 seconds. 60 to 0? 91 feet. Lateral acceleration? A staggering 1.16g, a figure that is the highest MT has ever recorded for a vehicle that isn't a race car. It's an utterly astonishing piece of work, this Z06, and just when you think it can't possibly get any more impressive, Randy Pobst hustles an auto-equipped Z06 around Road Atlanta in just 1:30. Aside from the eight-speed auto, Pobst's Z06 had the most aggressive aerodynamic package, the so-called Stage III. Take a look at the 650-horsepower Z06 in Motor Trend's latest video.
