Original 1982 corvette 23 Years in texas, and 8 years in florida. This is my 14th vette, and my third 82.In my opinion the 1982 corvette was the best in so many ways.It was the last of the C3s made (1968-1982).Corvettes were on a diet to reduce there weight for many reasons including gas consumption and anti-pollution demands made by the EPA.They were able to trim about 400+ pounds by using a different type of fiberglass and integrating a lot of aluminum in the suspension.Chevy did not go to sleep for 82 they went ahead and put electronic fuel injection and the famous 700r4 4 speed automatic transmission with locking overdrive.By doing this gas mileage jumped to 26 mpg on the highway.Yes it is possible BUT it is up to controlling your right foot. The car will do 60mph at 1500 rpm,a fast idle. This car was built in the new corvette plant in kentucky opened in 1981 that still builds the newest corvettes today including the 2014 C7.Anyway as much as I love this vette I must sell due to health problems that limit my movement.I bought it 1 year ago with 51k miles for 12200.00 and have invested over 5k dollars into it just to bring it up to the level I consider reliable. From all the simple things that add up fast like hoses, belts,Battery,New shocks, alternator, starter, rebuilt power steering control valve.Redid most of the a/c the right way.rebuilt/not replaced computer (ecm)(replacements are cheap and always fail). This car truely has 56k miles, don,t get tricked by people claiming they have 22,34 18k miles. You can clean many things but you need to know where to look underneath at the "birdcage" to tell how soon you are going to have to spend thousands and thousands. This car has no rust in the places that count. And believe my every 30 year old vette has some.Look out for people that paint and undercoat there cars,a real telltale sign.enough about other peoples vettes. My vette has had a full year of love and maintainance. All fluids have been flushed out and replaced with synthetic including rear end,and transmission and power steering,of course oil.I spared no expense, and here is your chance. The leather seats are perfect with no cracks or cuts.I am asking a resonable price.I've seen the adds for some of the other 82's for sale 24k miles for 12.5k dollars,c'mon you know if it sounds to good you are going to be paying the money(and it adds up fast) to fix all the things under the fiberglass.Just to get the headlights to go up dependable could cost $500.00.Mine do ! They were rebuilt, and I GOT THE BILLS!   Questions call me Danny 754-422-3497 in ft Lauderdale-boca raton area.Any other pictures u want let me know.Your starting out with a solid original car.No wires have been cut.No modifications have been made except for cd/mp3 player.Dont know anyone who would rather listen to an 8 track. Thanks for looking.I also have the chevy factory service manuel, owners manuel and a nice custom fitted all weather cover with lock and cable.

GM recalls 83,572 SUVs for ignition switch issue

Sun, Jan 4 2015

General Motors is recalling 83,572 SUVs from the 2011 and 2012 model years over a potential ignition lock actuator issue. In affected vehicles, the actuator isn't the right size, which could cause the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position, and then either due to a jarring event or a "cool interior temperature" the ignition could switch back to the "Accessory" position. Doing so would cause a loss of power assistance and the airbags might not deploy. This is a different ignition issue than the one that's been ongoing for the past year. GM said it expects that less than 500 vehicles suffer from the problem, but that the pool could include vehicles from 2007 through to 2014 that have already been fixed, but with defective parts. The 2011-2012 SUVs included in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notice: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. GM will notify owners and dealers will inspect the ignition lock housing to see if it needs a free replacement. RECALL Subject : Ignition Lock Actuator may Bind Report Receipt Date: DEC 30, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V827000 Component(s): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position. CONSEQUENCE: If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing, as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14696 for the original equipment, and 14912 for the service replacement parts.

GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
