When a luxury sports car is capable of a test–track top speed of 198 mph, it better have impressive brakes as
well. Z06 uses monoblock six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears, while the extra-large 14-inch front
rotors and 13.4-inch rears are vented and cross-drilled. And launch control is standard with the short-throw
6-speed manual gearbox. It modulates engine rpm to lay the power down more smoothly while providing consistent
acceleration times on the test track. Brembo® Carbon Ceramic Brakes—a braking system that helps with
performance, weight and corrosion resistance-along with the new Michelin® Pilot Super Sport Tires, which offer 8%
more grip than the standard Z06 tires.

Carbon–fiber components
Paired with its aluminum frame, the Z06 available carbon–fiber elements and options make this the lightest of all
Corvettes. Carbon fiber fenders and floors are standard in every Z06, yet you can eliminate even more weight and
give it a sleek, race-ready appearance with the available carbon-fiber roof, splitter, rockers and hood. Combined
together, it makes for an outstanding power-to-weight ratio and agile performance and handling.
Comfort, convenience and cutting edge
Corvette Z06 is born of modern technology such as new Magnetic Selective Ride Control™, carbon fiber and its
hydroformed aluminum structure, but Corvette also includes modern technology features that keep you connected to
your life. For even more convenience, the Technology Package included on reconfigured 3LZ Premium Equipment Group

handcrafted by our own skilled engine craftsmen at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan4. It delivers
an SAE–certified 505 hp at 6300 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. The engine employs lightweight
titanium intake valves and connecting rods, and contains a high-performance dry-sump oil system, which distributes
pressurized oil to protect vital components under high-g driving conditions. And thanks to a litany of
racing-derived components, Z06 weighs in at 3,199 lbs. curb and 3041 lbs. dry, making it the lightest of the 2012
Corvette models.
Refinement at every touch
The Z06 interior has been refined for greater driving support and comfort. The new seat design includes large
bolsters on the seatback and cushion areas for support, especially in high–performance driving but greatly
welcomed for day-to-day driving. Optional sueded microfiber seat inserts complement the new design even further, as
does the revised steering wheel featuring model-specific badges, streamlined switch trim, wrapped spokes, better
hand placement and thumb grips
Excellence is found in details
No detail was overlooked in order to create the most luxurious Corvette interior to date. Padded center console and
armrests on all models soften the interior, while the added visual touch of contrasting color stitching - in red -
is available with the Custom Leather-Wrapped Interior Package with sueded microfiber on the 3LZ trim level.

Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men
Tue, Apr 7 2015The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.
First-edition Detroit muscle raises millions for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Mon, Jan 19 2015Amidst all the classic metal crossing the auction block each year in Scottsdale, AZ, Detroit automakers have a tradition of donating the first examples of their most enticing new muscle cars, with the proceeds of their sales going towards worthwhile charities. This year, Barrett-Jackson handled three noteworthy examples. The highest price among them was the first Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang with the VIN #001, which raised $1 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. General Motors donated the first new Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible, the first retail example of the droptop supercar garnering $800,000 for the United Way. Along with the Z06, GM also donated the first new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan, which brought in $170,000 for Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Although these were the headline Motown muscle machines furnished by the automakers themselves, they weren't the only vehicles auctioned off for worthy causes. A 1950 GM Futurliner bus donated by collector Ron Pratte led the charge when it brought in $4.65 million for the Armed Forces Foundation. Other lots included a custom Jeep Wrangler donated by SEMA ($85k), a new M5 donated by BMW ($800k), a '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst ($140k), '39 Cadillac LaSalle C-Hawk ($410k), Jeff Gordon's 1999 NASCAR-spec Chevy Monte Carlo ($500k) and a Victory Cross Country 8-Ball motorcycle ($180k). All told, the charity lots raised over $8.7 million for local and national charities. BARRETT-JACKSON REACHES HISTORIC HIGHS FOR SALES, CROWDS AND CELEBRITY APPEARANCES IN SCOTTSDALE • Barrett-Jackson sold 1,611 vehicles, which went for more than $130 million (unaudited), smashing records in the company's 44-year history during the 10-day auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale • Automobilia sales nearly tripled world records, with 2,000 pieces selling for more than $6.55 million • Celebrity attendance and crowds, along with ratings on Discovery and Velocity, spike SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Jan. 18, 2015 – Barrett-Jackson, The World's Greatest Collector Car AuctionsTM, reached historic highs during the Scottsdale auction at WestWorld from Jan. 10-18, 2015. During the 10-day auction, Barrett-Jackson recorded more than $130 million in vehicle sales (unaudited) and a world record $6.55 million in automobilia sales (unaudited), making it the highest auction in sales to date. Next Chevy Volt will be 2016 model and ride on new chassis
Fri, Mar 7 2014What do we know about the 2016 Chevy Volt? Well, for now, all we can do is try to put the puzzle together without the box. Thankfully, a new batch of pieces has arrived from a new report in Edmunds, which says that the 2016 model year will introduce the second generation of a car that hasn't been dramatically updated since it went on sale in 2010. The new Volt is getting an "evolutionary styling change" and will ride on a new front-drive platform that has been developed by General Motors. GM's Kevin Kelly told AutoblogGreen that he has "no comment on future products," but he did acknowledge that Chevrolet is working on a second-generation Volt, "but I can't say anything about timing." Everybody already knew that a next-gen Volt is coming, so that's not a surprise. What we don't know is any real concrete information on the car itself. The few tidbits of information we do have help define the outlines of the next version of Chevy's halo car, but they're not confirmed yet. For the record, they range from the eye-raising (a $10,000 price drop) to the logical (20 percent more electric range). We can't see the whole picture yet, but the pieces do point to the 2016 Volt, which would be released next year sometime, being a much bigger deal than the last update, when the Volt's range was increased by three electric miles thanks to a battery capacity increase of 16 kWh to 16.5.
