2005 Chevrolet Corvette - Fully Loaded - 6.0l Dsom --over $7k In Upgrades!! on 2040-cars
Up for sale a beautiful, highly upgraded 2005 Chevrolet
Corvette that just passed 60k miles.
I bought this car in TX a few years back and
have loved every minute of driving it. Sadly the AF has moved me out to
CA and due to the performance upgrades I can't register it here. Since
the registration from SC is going to run out soon, I am forced to part with it.
Your chance to get a great car with a lot of awesome work done to
it. This car is fully loaded with
just about every option, at the bottom of the listing I’ll include the codes
and associated options so you can see exactly what it has.
Upgrades to this car include the following:
Full rework of the clutch and clutch system
including:
Tick & Monster
Complete Clutch Swap Package ($1250)
http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-monster-complete-clutch-swap-package-05-08-corvette-z06/
This clutch is fully adjustable to your preference and bleeding
the entire system is now super easy because I have installed a remote bleeder
line. All the hydraulic lines are now braided stainless (far better them GMs
rubber hoses) and routed far away from the exhaust heat. Nothing to worry about with your clutch again.
All new exhaust system from block to tips
including:
Melrose Motorsports LS2 Corvette Header system ($1600) http://www.melrosecorvette.com/2005-2007-ls2-corvette-header-system/
LG
Motorsports GT4 cat-back muffler kit ($1000) http://www.lgmotorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=343_435&products_id=2070
Here’s the deal with this exhaust, I got a good deal on the LG
mufflers so I thought I would try them.
Personally, they are too loud for me and there is some drone between
about 1800 and 2500 RPM. I bought a
lightly used Z06 exhaust that I was planning on swapping out but have just run
out of time and now am deploying soon.
Let me know if you would like me to include the Z06 exhaust (worth a few
hundred at least) or even have it swapped out prior to having the car sent to
you.
Suspension and chassis work to include:
Replacing sway bars, shocks and mono leafs with almost new OEM Z51
components and lowering the car appx 1” ($500).
A new heat-shielded tunnel brace ($120). The car is much stiffer, the tunnel brace controls the body and frame flex and also shields the interior from the exhaust heat. Overall the car rides much better, has tighter control with less roll and sway in the turns.
All new intake system including:
Vararam VR-SC1 Gen2 SnakeCharmer cold air intake ($300) http://www.vararam.com/sc1.html
I had both the throttle
body and intake plenum bored and polished ($300)
New spark plugs and MSD Super Conductor wires
($150)
New Duralast Gold Battery ($140)
I also sent the ECU out for tuning to take
advantage of the new airflow and increase throttle response and
performance. They also programmed out
the 1-4 skip-shift so now you get to decide what gear you want to be in, not
the car. ($150)
Interior:
Sound and heat deadening throughout entire cabin ($400) This
greatly reduces the heat soak into the cabin and makes it where you don’t need
to run your AC just to make a drive livable. No more hot drinks in the cup
holders!
Hydrocarbon wrapped
center console finished in 2008 GM Hydrocarbon ($300)
Matching carbon fiber door release bezels ($140) http://www.performancecorvettes.com/products/Corvette-C6-Carbon-Fiber-Door-Release-Bezels.html
Kenwood DVD/Navigation system ($200)
At around 56k miles the anti-theft column steering
lock sounded a little slow to retract so I had the Chevrolet dealership in Mt
Pleasant, SC replace the entire pin motor assembly ($1000). While there, I
had them perform the TSB/service bulletins to install a new under dash wiring clip
and replace the recalled removable hood panel.
I also had a Corvette specialty shop (MSI
Corvettes in Roseville, CA - http://motorsportimage.com) preemptively replace
the harmonic balancer once I got to 60k miles. ($1000) They also
replaced all the belts and gave the car a thorough check.
Again, only selling this car because the AF
moved me to CA and can’t register it here and I’m being deployed out before too
long. I need to sell it relatively soon
and this is a great chance for you to get a car with all the work done and at a
deep discount to you.
This car has always been smoke and pet
free. There are some smell scratches and
scuffs here and there which I have close up pics of and can send your way. Right now one of the TPMS is reading zero so
I’ll take it to the dealership this week to have it checked out, I’m suspecting
it needs to be re-calibrated.
I have over 80 pictures of the car and it’s easy
for me to take more of anything requested.
Just let me know what you would like.
Please contact me with any questions you have, I’m working evenings this
weekend but will find time to talk with you about any questions you have.
Included: CarCraft Custom fit cover ($200) 2 Keyless remotes and keys
Shipping: I realize that the buyer will most likely be outside of CA and as such I will drive the car up to 2 hours (ie Reno, NV) Even if you decide to have the car shipped I could drop it off in NV to save some on shipping costs. Contact me and we can work out any details.
Payment: Paypal works great for deposits, we can work out the details on the payment method, but money orders or cashier’s checks would be the easiest.

GM is quietly slashing prices on base models
Fri, Jan 30 2015While General Motors' fourth quarter financial figures haven't yet been released, the automaker seems to be weathering a potentially rocky time well, even beating third-quarter projections last year. To keep the climb going, the company is launching new base trims for several popular models that make them cheaper than ever but with tight dealer margins. The new entry-level trims are the Chevrolet Cruze L, Equinox L, GMC Terrain SL and Buick LaCrosse 1SV. Buyers lose some content by picking them, but the prices are slashed. According to Cars Direct, the biggest savings are on the LaCrosse, where customers pay $31,065, plus $925 destination, $2,570 less than the previous base 1SB trim but must accept things like 17-inch wheels and no cargo net in the back. If you're wondering how Buick can remove only a little equipment but cut the price so much, it's because the company also slashed dealer margins. According to Cars Direct, the difference between the invoice and MSRP for the LaCrosse 1SV is only around $150, compared to around $1,350 before. The disparity is even greater for the Cruze with an $81 difference in the prices, compared to about $600 for the LS version. Showrooms are expected to keep very low stocks of these trims, though. "Dealers use such vehicles to get people in the door, but they do not generally want to do high volumes of these strippers. The margins are next to nothing; they don't make much money off these cars," said Ed Kim, Vice President of Industry Analysis for AutoPacific to Autoblog. Dealers are also expected to advertise that these new base trims undercut major competitors. For example, the Cruze L rings up for about $2,320 less than a Honda Civic LX, according to Cars Direct. One potential drawback for buyers is that these models might not be eligible for incentives. While the attractive prices might get customers into dealers, folks may not actually end up driving home with these entry-level models. Kim indicated base trims also make up a small portion of the sales mix. "Consumers aren't asking for stripped out vehicles, even at the low end of the marketplace," he said. GM recalls Colorado, Canyon, and Malibu for airbag problem
Wed, Mar 9 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall and issue a stop sale on 1,740 total examples of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, Malibu, and GMC Canyon. This includes 1,579 units in the US and 161 in Canada. The Problem: The second stage of the driver front airbag inflator might not be present. If this happens, the airbag won't fill as quickly as it should in a high-speed crash, which could increase the risk of injury, according to Reuters. This is not related in any way to Takata's inflator problems, and these parts come from a different supplier. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: GM will replace the vehicles' airbag assemblies. If You Own One: GM spokesperson Tom Wilkinson told Autoblog he wasn't specifically sure when recall repairs would begin but said it would be "shortly." He expects the fixes to happen "quickly" because of the small number of affected vehicles, and many of them are either in transport or already in dealer stock. More Information: GM recalled the 2015 Canyon and Colorado in 2014 for a completely separate airbag issue. In that case, a manufacturing error improperly wired the connectors. Related Video: GM Statement GM is recalling 1,579 MY 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the United States and 161 in Canada to replace driver-side front airbags. The second stage of the airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. During a routine quality inspection, it was determined that a component required for a second-stage/high-output deployment was not loaded during the inflator build. Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag assembly. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls.
Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party.
