2003 Vortech Supercharged Chevrolet C5 Z06 Corvette. 61,440 Miles. 600hp. on 2040-cars
Oxnard, California, United States
* I Have Additional Pictures Available Upon Request *
Up for your consideration is a Beautiful 2003 50th anniversary edition Supercharged Chevrolet C5 Z06 corvette with 61,440 miles. It is Vortech Supercharged, has Clean Black Leather Interior with full exhaust package(American racing headers, JDC Catback performance exhaust system) Lowered on stock bolts with Cross drilled front rotors, has Chevy custom chrome OEM 18x10" front rims and 20x11" rear rims, Boost gauges set on drivers side window pillar with the boost set at 8psi. Has satellite radio and a skidplate/lifters(pushes up front bumper going over dips) The HUD (Heads up display) works perfectly fine. One Thing To Note: Previous owner had stated an upgraded sport clutch was installed but I have never confirmed that. Now the main issue with this car is Cylinder 5 has a cracked ring, which means you need to install a new set of forged pistons (Car starts up, drives, pulls hard and fast. No ticking or knocking of any kind with the engine) Keep in mind I do not drive this car. I do however, start it up twice a month just to keep everything moving around inside. I have taken my car to three separate locations and all concluded the same thing with all of them stating: "For the quickest and cheapest repair, replace the stock pistons with forged pistons" Now the not so serious issues are: The rear defrost window cable has been disconnected from the window itself (cable is still there just not connected to window) and on the nose of the front bumper and side mirrors there are these pencil point nicks. Unnoticeable unless you're actually looking for them (these can be found on every car from debris getting kicked up by cars driving in front of you) There are also two little nicks within the curvature of the passenger side, front yellow bumper reflector. Now at the rear of the car, the paint is kind of becoming warped under the far left brake light. Im assuming from the heat of the muffler, which you cannot see in the pictures or videos that I can provide. Car was estimated to have 600hp by a very prestigious corvette shop only at 8psi. I do not wish to dump any more money into this car, as I have grown out of the "Speed" scene but if I have to, to get it sold I will. Therefore, if this car does not sell by August 25th, I have already made arrangements for this car to get a total rebuilt starting on the 29th of August. I will be Forging and stroking out the motor to a 383. The transmission and rear end will be rated at 900hp. Other upgrades and goodies will be installed but Once the car is professionally tuned, I will again have it up for sale but for twice as much than my current asking price. You can then, bid on my car if you wish. I am in no rush to sell my Z06, so leave your low ball offers to yourself. IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. Feel free to message me. |

Fullsize GM SUVs have a problem that's making owners sick
Thu, Dec 31 2015Some fullsize SUV owners are getting sick, thanks to a buffeting and vibration problem in 2015 model year examples of the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, and GMC Yukon. According to owners' complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue can vary from an annoying vibration inside the cabin to an experience so severe that it leads to dizziness and headaches. General Motors is aware of the complaints, but the fix isn't so simple. According to spokesperson Tom Wilkinson to Autoblog, the company "has been tracking this issue for a while." The problem has a fairly low incidence rate, but when it does occur the issue can be "uncomfortable and annoying for owners." There's no precise cause for the issue, Wilkinson claims, and in some cases, simply balancing the tires or changing the door seals can make it go away. However, not all of the fixes are so simple. AutoGuide dug deep into the problem and discovered a GM preliminary information bulletin that advised dealers to remove the headliner and to check the roof's bonds to the bows that go across the vehicle. However, that document included a note that the solution might not entirely eliminate things. According to AutoGuide, adding Dynamat insulation to the roof sometimes helped the problem. A GM spokesperson also told AutoGuide the company fixed the problem at the end of the 2015 model year, and didn't go into any more detail. This roof issue seems linked to some of the worst droning in these SUVs. According to one complaint from a 2015 Suburban owner to NHTSA: "Roof will not remain attached to the roof bows. This causes the buffeting similar to a window being down when all are up. The results span from annoying to painful." A 2015 Yukon owner claims to have another alleged cause for the problem in a NHTSA complaint from February 2015. This person brought their SUV to the dealer seven times over the course of four weeks for vibrations. The dealer replaced the driveshaft, suspension components, and more, but nothing worked. According to an engineer to the service adviser: "In an effort to prevent roll overs, they designed the frame and body mounts too stiff. There are 40 engineers working on issues, they have no solutions that work across the board." Wilkinson told Autoblog that GM is working with customers on an individual basis to rectify things. Since these are newer vehicles, dealers should also fix the problem under warranty.
Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
The Opel GT is the concept General Motors should build for the US
Sat, Feb 27 2016Now is the time. General Motors should double-down on performance cars and build the Opel GT concept that's set to debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show. Better yet, sell it in the United States as the Chevy GT. Consumers are showing a thirst for performance cars not seen in decades. Ford has them coming in waves, with everything from the F-150 Raptor to a hotted-up Fusion. FCA US is unrepentantly building loads of Hellcats. GM should respond. The General's cupboard is hardly bare. With the Corvette, Camaro, and Cadillac's V-Series, GM has more than enough to compete with its crosstown rivals and anything Europe or Japan can throw at it. But there's also an opportunity. There's not many front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat sports cars out there like the Opel GT concept. A Chevy GT that used that layout and captured some of the concept car's proportions and curves would ignite a different kind of passion in enthusiasts. It would be Miata-like. With Chevy branding, this sports car would be the everyday exotic. The concept has a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, which makes about 143 horsepower to motivate a structure that weighs less than 2,200 pounds. It can hit 60 miles per hour in less than eight seconds. All of those numbers are within the front-engined Miata's territory. This new Opel is inspired by two great mid-1960s concepts that helped put its design studio, and that of its sister brand, the British Vauxhall, on the map. (The GT concept is also technically a Vauxhall, as the brands are linked in GM's European strategy.) One of them, the '66 Vauxhall XVR remained a concept. The '65 Opel Experimental GT was on the road by 1968. That shows this is doable. There's precedent. The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice shared a chassis with a modern GT during that trio's brief run. If GM ever makes this concept, Opel and Vauxhall should get their versions. But Chevy is the one that could make this car a global icon. Chevrolet GT. Make it happen. News & Analysis News: The potential return of the Ford Bronco is generating a ton of attention. Analysis: That's not news, per se. But when the Bronco6G.com fan site did a rendering of a next-generation Bronco, it almost broke the Internet. Everyone from Automotive News to Jalopnik picked up the illustrations. Our own post has drawn a lot of traffic and passionate responses. People are clamoring for the Bronco's return.
