2003 Chevrolet Corvette C5 W/ 402ci Stroker Ls2 Engine 500+ Rwhp 6-spd Targa Z06 on 2040-cars
Wake Forest, North Carolina, United States
This car has 65,011 miles with a built LS2 402ci stroker motor putting out over 500 RWHP. Runs like a race car but is still very driveable around town. Exhaust has a very strong deep note but not so loud that it's obnoxious to driver or others. Car is clean inside and out. Factory options: 50th anniversary edition Power window, locks, mirrors, steering column Heads up display 6-speed manual Keyless entry Traction Control Cruise Control List of modifications are as follows: (I'm sure I'm leaving a ton of them out) 402ci Stroker LS2 engine w/ Forged Internals originally installed by Texas Speed in TX. Magic Stick 3 cam KOOKS long tube headers Mcleod RST Twin Disc Clutch Built Stage 2 Transmission (500 miles ago) High-flow cats Ported/Polished LS2 Throttle Body FAST intake TICK Adjustable Clutch master cylinder Cat-Back Exhaust 18" motorsport wheels Vara-Ram-air intake Corbeau A4 Suede/microfiber Seats B&M Shifter Derlin polished aluminum shift knob Underdrive Pulley Billet Fuel Rail SS Brake Lines, Hawk pads High Flow injectors Tick Adjustable Clutch Master Cylinder, Slave Cyl replaced with Clutch Remote Clutch Bleeder line MB Quart Stereo and speakers and much more, will add to list as I think of it. Tires are all in good shape with 50% or more tread from memory. Including a brand new set of rear tires identical to the rears on the car. Fronts: Michelin Pilot Super Sports 275/35/18 Rears: Nitto NT555R 305/35/18 (NEW extra set included $700/pr on ebay) All Receipts/Records included. This car's tuner is Mayhem Motorsports in Raleigh, NC. They are very familiar with the car inside and out. Anything wrong with the car? Here's what I have: -airbag light has always been on, never bothered me, I thought it was the clock spring, but that may have been my last C5, someone mentioned it might be b/c I unplugged the OEM seats? -Fog light switch or both bulbs bad? -The passenger side/rear TPS (tire pressure system) sensor batteries is about to go out. Replace sensor or battery, or nothing. Standard service history that I can think of non-performance related: -Steering Rack was warrantied early on and replaced -Driver side inner tie-rod replaced -A/C serviced -New starter -Regular oil changes No problems with headlights or column lock. This is not my first Corvette so I'm familiar with their usual suspects. I have a column lock bypass that I will include also in case you ever need it, it stays in the glovebox, just in case. I intentionally have not let GM do the recall since they just remove the steering lock altogether. I really hate to sell this car. It's absolutely amazing. It has become a garage queen and deserves better. Let me know if you have any questions. |

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases
Wed, Nov 20 2019NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch
Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
First-edition Detroit muscle raises millions for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Mon, Jan 19 2015Amidst all the classic metal crossing the auction block each year in Scottsdale, AZ, Detroit automakers have a tradition of donating the first examples of their most enticing new muscle cars, with the proceeds of their sales going towards worthwhile charities. This year, Barrett-Jackson handled three noteworthy examples. The highest price among them was the first Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang with the VIN #001, which raised $1 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. General Motors donated the first new Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible, the first retail example of the droptop supercar garnering $800,000 for the United Way. Along with the Z06, GM also donated the first new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan, which brought in $170,000 for Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Although these were the headline Motown muscle machines furnished by the automakers themselves, they weren't the only vehicles auctioned off for worthy causes. A 1950 GM Futurliner bus donated by collector Ron Pratte led the charge when it brought in $4.65 million for the Armed Forces Foundation. Other lots included a custom Jeep Wrangler donated by SEMA ($85k), a new M5 donated by BMW ($800k), a '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst ($140k), '39 Cadillac LaSalle C-Hawk ($410k), Jeff Gordon's 1999 NASCAR-spec Chevy Monte Carlo ($500k) and a Victory Cross Country 8-Ball motorcycle ($180k). All told, the charity lots raised over $8.7 million for local and national charities.
