2001 - Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
2001 Z06 with 75k miles. Red on black, 6 speed with AC, pwr. Seats, mirrors, locks, auto dim rear view. Expertly maintained by dealer and myself. All stock except for air filter. Really exceptional original paint except for flaw on drivers door (a rub of some sort). New front tires and ceramic brakes with lifetime warranty. Very nice interior with no damage and minimal wear on the drivers seat. This car is driven every day and is ready to go. It took me several months to find this car because I am picky about paint and condition. Owned by 2, 50 year old mid life crisis guys who were not Corvette people. The car has never left Florida and has been between Ft. Lauderdale and Naples it' whole life. This is my 14th Corvette and has been the most enjoyable. The car is light, has a key and is just raw enough to let you know it is a sports car. The car is refined enough to drive every day. I have rebuilt the headlight motor, power window regulator and seat track. These are common C5 issues and are now corrected. The carpet is perfect but there are no floor mats. The car is well sealed and everything functions. I did replace the right rear wheel with an NOS part due to a bent rim. The car is smooth at any speed with no shimmy whatsoever. The original tire pump and repair kit is in the trunk. There is the logo foam divider behind the seats as well. I don't want to sell it but the time has come for a 4 door sedan. Yes, I am buying a CTS V. Please let me know if you have any questions and inspections are welcome. Low reserve as she needs a new home soon. Good luck! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Dec-06-14 at 07:22:26 PST, seller added the following information: Update: It is finally not raining today so I snapped a couple more photos. I bought new lug nut covers for the right front as they were discolored. The extra parts are a rear wheel, original air filter in the box and a few small parts such as new lug nut covers, touch up paint and extra brass gears for the headlight motors.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]
Thu, Apr 9 2015Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles." NHTSA Closes Investigation into Brake-Line Failures NHTSA 13-15 Thursday, April 9, 2015 Agency issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a Safety Advisory and consumer video encouraging owners of model year 2007 and older trucks, SUVs and passenger cars to inspect brake lines and thoroughly wash the underside of their vehicles to remove corrosive salt after the long winter in order to prevent brake-line failures that increase the risk of a crash.
2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas
Wed, Oct 29 2014Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
