1996 Corvette Convertible Rare Black / Tan w/ more Rare LT4 engine -  1 of 354 built. Last and best of the C4 generation - It has most of the pertinent options: Power seats, Chrome wheels, Bose CD, UJ6 low tire pressure system, and Climate control a/c. It has 54000 softly driven miles, still smells new, is in all original condition, and you would think it has far, far less if you did not look at the ODO. NO ACCIDENTS, NO PAINTWORK, STOCK / UNMOLESTED. Have a car cover & front bra - never used. These C4 cars are becoming more rare to find. In years to come they will appreciate in value, especially when they look like this. Can be displayed for cruise nights & shows proudly.

The original Black paint is damage free. It has always been hand washed and waxed every month. The moldings, handles, window glass, soft top, lettering, rubber seals, and all other exterior features are in exceptional condition. The chrome wheels look new and the Goodyear Eagle  tires have excellent tread. I have all of the books, window sticker, service records, literature, and dealer service manuals that go with ( see pic ). The exterior is a strong 9.75 / 10.

On the inside, the Tan interior still looks, feels and maintains that newer appeal. As you can see in the pics, the seats have always been covered w/ no wear and the floor mats have mats over the mats. The door panels, carpeting, dash, center console, faceplates, etc. have no wear. All of the interior buttons / switches ( power windows, door locks, cruise, antenna, and 6 way power seats work without issue ). The Bose stereo system plays perfect. The undercarriage is dry, spotless, and rust free too. Inside, it is a 9.75+ / 10.

Mechanically, it starts, idles, and drives smoothly as a fine tuned machine should. All of the servicing is up to date - a/c, belts, hoses, fluids all changed / maintained at the proper intervals, The engine compartment / undercarriage are extra clean / dry, and it performs without hesitation. Of course, the LT4 - 330 hp. engine has great pick-up and shifts like a new car. The brakes have plenty of pad left, it has cross drilled rotors, and upgraded stainless steel brake lines. All of the other mechanical functions perform without issue.

1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won. Our favorite mid-engine Corvette theories and rumors

Tue, Sep 13 2016

The mid-engine Corvette! We just saw blurry photos through the foliage, and are hearts are all aflutter because it means that this car is real. And it's the most " never before" Corvette since 1984. Which leads us to all kinds of wacky theories and speculation. Everybody knows something or heard from a guy. None of those guys (or gals) from GM are talking to Autoblog, to be clear. But that won't stop us from stirring the pot. Let's go over a few point-by-point. The pushrod engine will be replaced by an overhead-cam V8 Car and Driver has repeatedly reported that an overhead-cam engine will come after the mid-engine Corvette's debut with an old-school pushrod. We've heard the same thing firsthand, albeit from a source with no connection to the development of the Corvette or powertrain. "At some point two valves can't pass future emissions regulations," said the guy we know. While the pushrod engine is compact, the design makes it difficult - if not impossible - for sophisticated variable valve timing (and lift) systems that control combustion with more precision. Hasty conclusion: The pushrod engine has a finite life in front of it. This one's a lock, it's a just a matter of when. Bowling Green's new paint shop is really the mid-engine assembly line Credit to Reddit for this one. Like we said, everybody knows a guy. But let's look deeper. The new paint facility costs $439 million dollars and adds 450,000 square feet, almost half the size of the existing plant. Plus GM announced another $290 million in upgrades at Bowling Green Assembly. That sure sounds like a lot of money, but you can actually spend that much on a paint booth. Porsche spent 500 million Euros (about $561 million dollars) to add the Macan assembly to its Leipzig, Germany plant in 2014. Chrysler shelled out $850 million for a paint shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan. GM spent $600 million for a new paint shop at the Fairfax (Kansas City) plant. Honda, on the other hand, is working on a thrifty $210 million project in Marysville, Ohio that includes a 300,000 square foot expansion, and the low-volume Acura NSX facility only cost $70 million. Hasty conclusion: The square footage and cost could easily mean a new assembly line instead of (or in addition to) a paint line. And if the NSX plant was really that cheap, GM could have hidden a similar sum in its existing announcements.

2014 Corvette Stingray meets Tesla Model S in drag strip showdown

Wed, Jan 29 2014

They come from two different worlds and have little in common. The Tesla Model S P85 is the sportiest version of this paradigm-punching sedan from California, while the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 is a performance-enhanced version of Michigan's recently-updated sports car stalwart. The West Coast car seats five adults and eats electrons like Popeye eats spinach, the Easterner has two passenger places and, surprisingly, sips gasoline like one might bourbon. An attribute they do happen to share is extreme quickness. This similarity is all the excuse Drag Times needed to set the vehicles beside each other at the Palm Beach International Raceway for a bit of mano-a-mano quarter-mile combat. Fortunately enough, cameras were rolling for each of two bouts down the blacktop and the results recorded for our edification and enlightenment. The winner? We won't spoil it for you, but let's just say it's really, really close. How close? Scroll below and watch the video for yourself. Just be warned, the results may surprise you.
