1988 Corvette convertible 5 speed, white body with a black cloth top, red interior, 88,995 original miles. Originally owned by my father who purchased it brand new in 1988 and was passed on to me after he passed in 2007. It was only used on wknds and during the nicer weather here in NY. Please view all the pictures, pic 17). is 1991, the vette originally came with a vynil white top which through the yrs fell apart. In 2004 my dad purchased a black cloth top which is alot more durable. Pic 18 and 19 is the monies I've invested into the car, brand new muffler system in 2010 and a brand new clutch in August of 2012 plus other items totalling around $5000. I lived in CA for 2 yrs and got to enjoy driving this car down the PCH through Malibu ( I know my father was smiling from above). Please view Milage, dates, price and what was done. This was my 3rd car so I hardly drove it, it was used when I wanted speed under my ass or pick up a lady for the first time (like my dad said it was an extension of his johnson). This car was never in an accident, body is in perfect shape, tires and rims are good, very nice cloth top, new muffler and clutch plus other items fixed and drives awesome when it did work! When I moved back to NY 6/12 I hardly used it, as you can see I only put 400 miles on the car since getting a new clutch. I covered the car and stuck it in the back of my driveway, who needs insurance right..... Hurricane Sandy came into town, I wasnt here for Irene AND I live 10 blocks from the ocean so I figured I was good. Thankfully I took my land rover to the city the night before as I knew we would lose electric for a few days. Anyhoot, Im not sure how high the water came up where I live but I do know the water went up to the seats in the car (the seats show water marks). I did try and jump it but got nothing, I even left the charger on it for 12 hrs and still nothing. This car definatly has water damage, If I wasnt moving to Chicago in 3 wks I would figure out whats wrong with it and fix it. I drove this car to my prom 23 yrs ago and it was my dads car, I have many fond memories of this car but I must move on and I have no place to put it while I live in the city. Being sold as is and pick up only. Please ask any questions and thanks for looking. Please view my other auctions on ebay.
I know nothing about cars.... thats why we have mechanics!!

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan
Sun, Jun 14 2020The story of Daewoo in North America took some interesting plot turns over the decades. First we had the 1988-1993 Pontiac LeMans, a rebadged Daewoo LeMans. A bit later, Daewoo began selling cars under its own nameplate here, with the Lanos, Nubira, and Leganza available for the 1999-2002 model years. Then Daewoo fled the continent and left warranty service of those cars in the hands of Manny, Moe, and Jack. With GM taking over Daewoo Motors after Daewoo's bankruptcy, we got some Daewoos with Suzuki badges here— the Verona and the Reno— while Chevrolet began selling the South Korean-built Daewoo Kalos as the Aveo for the 2004 model year. This car may not be a gem in the sense that you would want to own one, but it's a gem of automotive history and thus deserves its place in this series (especially because it's one of the rare 5-speed cars sold here). Many (maybe even most) of these cars ended up in the hands of rental-car companies and other fleet users, but we can tell from the three-pedal setup that this car went to a non-fleet buyer. We've had a couple of these cars compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons, where I work as a dignified and respected race official, and they've been amazingly quick on a road course in the hands of good drivers. Power came from this 103-horsepower Opel-designed four displacing 1.6 liters. The Nubira and Lanos got versions of this engine on these shores, too. The LS was the top trim level for the Aveo in 2004, so this car got air conditioning and a halfway decent audio system (by 2004 standards). The seat fabric is industrial-grade stuff, which would have held up well under the steady drip and/or torrents of bodily fluids coating the interiors of rental cars. The 2004 Aveo LS started at $12,045, which comes to about $16,675 in 2020 dollars, so it was a lot of commuter-appliance for the price. The following generation of this car became the Chevrolet Sonic, beginning with the 2012 model year. You can still buy a new Sonic, and the inflation-adjusted price is nearly identical to that of the original AveoÂ… though you might want to move fast if you really want one, because Daewoo stopped selling the Kalos in South Korea not long ago. If you want the rarest member of the Aveo family available in North America, find yourself a hen's-teeth Pontiac G3, the short-lived Pontiac-badged version. Speaking of the G3, here's the way it broke the hearts of gas pumps around the world.
Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]
Sun, 03 Feb 2013The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.
