Beautiful 1986 Corvette Indy Pace Car Edition (badge on console). Ermine White, Red Leather Upholstery, Automatic Transmission, full power equipment etc-- see pic of Monroney label.
Description: The 86 C4 Convertible was the beginning of the convertibles again after not being made for 10 years. Open air motoring carried a significant price increase-- $5000 premium over the Coupe and cracked the over Thirty Thousand mark for the first time. This 28 year old sports muscle car has less than 46,000 original documented miles and is adult owned by a National Corvette Restorer's Society (NCRS) member/judge. This car has been judged Blue Ribbon Top Flight 3 times-- in 2009 at the St. Louis National Convention and the last time in 2013 Hampton, VA at the NCRS National Convention. The car was driven to and from both these events from California by the owner (was awarded the Longest Drive ribbon). The car has a personally signed (2009 and 2013) distributor cover by Dave McLelland, GM Chief Engineer of the C4 series. The Award certificates are also signed by Dave-- see pics.
The car has 5000 mile 'old' BF Goodrich tires and new battery. Everything works correctly on the car EXCEPT the Cassette Tape player.
Otherwise, the Delco Bose AM/FM sound system and the automatic electric antenna works perfectly.
The interior is in excellent condition-- if the pictures seem "orangy" in color it's because of the sunshine/lighting. All carpeting is in original red bright color.
The body has never been accidented and the paint is 100% original and in excellent condition.
The vinyl top material is in good condition but has suffered a few tiny cuts due to being put up and down-- see pics.
History; Total production of 1986 models: 27794 Coupes and only 7315 Convertibles making this a fairly rare model and likely to increase in desireability and value in years to come.
Documentation: This car was delivered new in Walnut Creek, CA in December, 1986 to a Doctor who put 13,000 miles on it, then sold it to another Doctor in Sacramento, CA who sold it to me at 22,000 miles. It's an original, genuine California rust-free automobile.
The car is being sold AS IS/WHERE IS and No Warranty is expressed or implied. Your mechanic/representative is welcome to inspect the car. I will pick up the buyer at the Oakland or San Francisco airport to effect delivery.
All questions will be honestly and completely answered and I have other pictures if you want them. Or I can take pictures of anything specific if you wish.
I don't think this car has any surprises-- it runs well and is ready to drive anywhere!

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

Chevy working on production Impala Midnight Edition

Sat, Dec 13 2014

To put together the Impala Blackout concept for SEMA, Chevrolet didn't need to go much further than its accessories catalog. The in-house connection is what could make it possible for Chevy to get a production version of the Blackout into dealers this model year, with its few bits of chrome trim and dark detailing on the 19-inch aluminum wheels set into an abyss of gloss black paint, black Bowtie, grille surround, rear spoiler and mirror caps. The interior is black leather, with stainless steel for the sill plates and pedals, and an 11-speaker Bose audio system, and it gets the optional 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6. The brand's marketing director for cars and crossovers, Steve Majoros, told Edmunds that it could come in late spring, and that it will be called "Midnight Edition." Majoros didn't give any indication of pricing or if the production car will be spec'd out like the concept. If you simply don't want to wait for late spring, you could work your DIY mojo by putting one together the same way Chevrolet did: give the accessories catalog a workout. Related Video:

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments.
