This 1985 Corvette runs good and should be quite drivable.  It sat in the previous owners garage for many years not running until I purchased it and got it going.   Mechanically it looks to be in good condition..  I have recently replaced the fuel tank filler assembly (including fuel pump, strainer, and level sensor), distributor cap and rotor, driver side power window motor and rack, fuel filter, and valve cover gaskets.  The catalytic converter was also replaced with a new California Magnaflow unit.  It also has a new Interstate battery.  Car passed smog well with emissions being around the middle of acceptable limits.  The original valve covers were damaged by the previous owner, so I replaced them with stock appearing stamped steel types.  I do believe this to be the original corvette engine.  Transmission is free of excessive noise and shifts well.  Car does not appear to leak oil.

This corvette does however need some mechanical more work.  The front tires are well worn and the rear tires have cracks from sitting around too long in dry Nevada.  The AC clutch is not receiving power.  I suspect a relay to be at fault as the fuse is good. The power door locks, interior lights, and radio do not function as well.

The Exterior is in overall good condition but the paint is oxidized on the doors, nose, and left rear quarter panel.  The oxidized paint does  appears to polish out to a nice shine.  With some effort, the paint should be able to be made to look pretty good.  There is some small fiberglass damage in the front of the hood , on the front side panel, and there is some paint cracks in center of hood.  Other then that typical scuffs and scratches for a car this age.  See pictures.

The Inter is in fair condition.  The rear carpet is in serious need of replacement and the door panels are starting to delaminate and separate.  The seats appear well used but are in otherwise in decent shape.   The dash pad is free of cracks.   The steering wheel is aftermarket but I do have the original.  The original wheel however does need restoration of leather.  The left front Bose speaker is out of the car and is in need of a new amplifier board.

I am selling the car because I simply have too many projects and not enough time.  My asking price is quite firm.  I have tried to give enough detail of the good and bad characteristics, but this is an old car and may have other issues.   I encourage any interested party to come look at the car before committing to buy, as I expect the buyer to complete the transaction.   I accept only cash  payments and require it within 7 days of auction end.  Please contact me if you have any more questions or if you want to come look at the car.   Thanks for looking at my listing.

Car and Driver reveals spy shots of mid-engine 2017 Corvette

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Some news in the car world is perennial, and some is perennially wrong. Typically news about some upcoming mid-engined Chevy Corvette has fallen into the latter category, with rumors never yet generating a road car. This time could very well be different. Car and Driver has some exclusive photographs of what would appear to be a Corvette test mule with a mid-mounted engine. The car in question might look like a Holden SSV ute that's undergone some indelicate modification, but C/D editor Don Sherman assures that the bones of a C8 'Vette live within that crude bodywork. Sherman points to the closeness of the cabin to the front axle as clue number one of this car's mid-engine attitude, as well as the powertrain-sized space between the back of the seats and the rear axle. The roof and glasshouse are all clearly plucked from the current C7, and the gas tank filler positioned on the B-pillar is another huge clue. The buff book estimates that the mule points to a timeline for sale, even. Testing on this level could mean a mid-engined C8 ready for sale in as few as 20 months, or for the 2017 model year. Click over to Car and Driver to have a close look at this important set of spy photographs, as well as a rendering of what a finished C8 might ultimately look like

Recharge Wrap-up: Detroit Electric teaser video, Nissan Leaf is Good Housekeeping "Tried and Tested"

Mon, Oct 20 2014

Detroit Electric has a new teaser video and has updated its brand in preparation of the introduction of the SP:01. The refreshed logo uses a blue and white color palette, and the company has also given its website a new look. The teaser video, which gives a sneak peek at the exterior of the SP:01, shows the car taking form in the midst of an electrical storm. Watch the video or learn more in the press release below. Abengoa is celebrating the grand opening of a commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Hugoton, KS. When running at full scale, the refinery will produce up to 25 million gallons of ethanol a year. The plant will also generate enough electricity to power itself and put some back into the grid. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz was on hand for the dedication, saying, "Every gallon of cellulosic ethanol produced and used to fuel our vehicles reduces the impact of harmful greenhouse gas emissions by greater than 60 percent as compared to conventional gasoline." Learn more at Energy.gov. Good Housekeeping has named the Nissan Leaf one of its "Tried and Tested" vehicles. The magazine called the Leaf SL its top "Roomy Electric" vehicle in its November issue. The magazine's research institute evaluated the EV based on track and road driving, ergonomics and convenience features. Good Housekeeping made note of the car's "impressive" range, but according to Nissan's Fred Diaz, "the real beauty of the Nissan Leaf is that it's roomy and, best of all, fun to drive." Read more in the press release below. Quasar Energy Group produces compressed natural gas from sewage and garbage. It uses things like grains leftover from brewing Budweiser, food waste from a baseball stadium and sewage sludge to produce the gas through anaerobic digestion. The compressed gas can then be used to power cars like Chevrolet's Bi-fuel Impala, which goes on sale later this year. Chevrolet likens the situation to the Delorean time machine in the Back To The Future movie series, which uses garbage to fuel its fusion generator. Here's why automakers roll out those Texas-themed pickup trucks

Thu, Sep 29 2016

Every year, automakers with a full-size truck link make a big show of the Texas State Fair, usually involving a reveal of a new model. Sometimes they show a whole new truck, and other times a special edition centered on the Lone Star state. While some people might write this off as a quirk of the industry, others might be wondering, "What's the big deal with Texas?" As it turns out, part of the big deal with Texas is big truck sales. According to Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager at AutoPacific, Texas buys more trucks than any other state in the country. It's not a small margin either. Edmunds.com, one in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. The state also accounts for 15 percent of the country's large truck sales, which is more than twice that of California, the second largest truck market in America. Even when you break down sales only in Texas, trucks are a huge piece of the pie - Sullivan says that a quarter of new vehicle sales in Texas are trucks. One in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. But it's not just sales that make truck builders give attention to Texas. As Sullivan explained, "Pickups are life in Texas." Both he and Hugh Milne, marketing and advertising manager for the Chevy Silverado line, said that trucks are key fixtures in Texas society, as both work trucks and luxury vehicles (or Texas Cadillacs as Milne called them). Milne said Texas is so important in the truck market that if you want to be successful in the rest of the country, "you've got to be successful in Texas." As for the State Fair, it has become a prime location for reveals in part because of the importance of the Texas market and because of how big the fair is. Milne also revealed that the State Fair also hosts its own auto show, so it's an ideal venue for a vehicle introduction. So there you have it. Why do truck builders obsess over Texas? It's because Texas obsesses over trucks. When you have one market that loves your product that much, you give it the attention it deserves.
