This is a beautiful car that has all the right parts to make it a fun daily driver or cruise in ready Corvette. This Corvette is a 1979 Model Year that has been well maintained and is very clean throughout. It runs and drives GREAT! It has enough tasteful upgrades to increase the fun factor, while preserving the originality and appearance of the car as Chevy intended. Very fun to drive, no issues with the engine, it runs clean, no smoke, or funny noises. The engine was treated to a complete overhaul 19K miles ago which included a bore and stroke to a 383ci helping this corvette come to life! It was built with performance and driveability in mind. With the custom Crane Cam you get a mild "lopey" idle you would expect from a performance muscle car but still maintains great idle and driveability with excess power throughout the power band. More than enough power to throw you back in the seat and put a smile on your face. Be forewarned, this car will smoke tires if you want it too. With the upgrades made to this car, it makes way more power than a stock Corvette of this year... To compliment the power, The Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers and duel exhaust creates a powerful note that is a must have for that deep throaty exhaust tones we all love. Transmission is in great shape and shifts firmly, no slipping and shifts through all gears with no problems noted. U-joints have been checked as well as rear end and there is no play as expected and no leaks or noises from the rear end. It plants the power to the tires which are nearly new Cooper Cobra Radial Tires with perhaps 4,000 miles on them and they all show like new with 90+ percent tread on them with no repairs or damage noted, mounted and balanced on a matching set of Boyd custom polished aluminum wheels. The interior is VERY nice, it has fresh upholstery done over the summer with new OEM seats, carpet etc. It is very clean and detailed. This Corvette has the Mirrored T-Tops and they lock into place securely with no water leaks or wind noise noticeable. The paint is very nice, a classic red that screams performance. While the paint is not perfect, is shows very nice and I would rate it a 9/10. The fiberglass is all good and structurally sound. I got this car over the summer from a gentleman who was in need of cash, so I helped him out, I drove it for a month daily with no issues and it was a blast to drive, but alas, I am a Ford Mustang guy and so while fun, it is just not my "type" of car to hang onto long term, but I know this will be the perfect car for someone who appreciates the classic looks of the C3 body style. The car does show signs of wear here and there, it is not perfect in any way, but it is a very nice and clean car for this vintage and has been well taken care of. As I said, I only drove it for a short time, but the only thing that doesn't work that I have noticed is the tachometer.  Which I hear is an easy fix from some of the research I had done, but not something I have had time to fix and it does not hamper driveability. The odometer is in excess of its capabilities, it is working and has rolled over and currently reads 05203, I am told by previous owner who was the 2nd owner according to him that it is indeed 105,203 but I have no way to verify this or discredit this, the best I can say is the wear on the car is consistent with 105,203 miles, although beware this may not be an accurate figure. Additionally, included with the car is a fitted car cover to protect it from dust and the elements. I am sure there is more, it is impossible to describe every detail of a car but this is a good overview of it. Any other questions or details I have missed, please message me and I will be happy to help clarify or provide answers. Remember, if you don't ask, I can't answer!

The car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty. I urge prospective buyers to take all precautions available to arrange inspections prior to and before placing bids. Your bid is a contract to purchase, not a contract to come inspect. This advertisement is intended to give you a brief overview of the car and is not a substitute for due diligence and a personal inspection by you and or your mechanic. Remember this car is about 34 years old, and is not perfect, though it is very nice. The photos are of the actual car for sale, and show it well. If you need additional photos or have questions I am happy to address them for you. Every effort has been made to provide an accurate advertisement, however I will not be liable for typos, errors or inadvertent omissions in the description, that is the purpose of you coming and doing a pre-bid inspection so you can see it in full detail and verify every aspect of the car you want. I require an immediate non-refundable deposit of $500 through paypal within 24 hours, the balance is required within 7 days in the form of cash or bank check. You are welcome to fly in and drive home, or you may arrange shipping of the car at your expense and you are responsible for arranging delivery, although I will help in any way I can. The title is clear, from the Oregon DMV and it is in hand and will be transferred to the buyer. 1 set of keys included. The car will not be released to shipper or buyer until funds have cleared my bank, so please allow time for this or come in person with cash or we can meet at your bank if there is a branch here local to me. Any questions or concerns please let me know and I will be happy to help.

Recharge Wrap-up: Detroit Electric teaser video, Nissan Leaf is Good Housekeeping "Tried and Tested"

Mon, Oct 20 2014

Detroit Electric has a new teaser video and has updated its brand in preparation of the introduction of the SP:01. The refreshed logo uses a blue and white color palette, and the company has also given its website a new look. The teaser video, which gives a sneak peek at the exterior of the SP:01, shows the car taking form in the midst of an electrical storm. Watch the video or learn more in the press release below. Abengoa is celebrating the grand opening of a commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Hugoton, KS. When running at full scale, the refinery will produce up to 25 million gallons of ethanol a year. The plant will also generate enough electricity to power itself and put some back into the grid. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz was on hand for the dedication, saying, "Every gallon of cellulosic ethanol produced and used to fuel our vehicles reduces the impact of harmful greenhouse gas emissions by greater than 60 percent as compared to conventional gasoline." Learn more at Energy.gov. Good Housekeeping has named the Nissan Leaf one of its "Tried and Tested" vehicles. The magazine called the Leaf SL its top "Roomy Electric" vehicle in its November issue. The magazine's research institute evaluated the EV based on track and road driving, ergonomics and convenience features. Good Housekeeping made note of the car's "impressive" range, but according to Nissan's Fred Diaz, "the real beauty of the Nissan Leaf is that it's roomy and, best of all, fun to drive." Read more in the press release below. Quasar Energy Group produces compressed natural gas from sewage and garbage. It uses things like grains leftover from brewing Budweiser, food waste from a baseball stadium and sewage sludge to produce the gas through anaerobic digestion. The compressed gas can then be used to power cars like Chevrolet's Bi-fuel Impala, which goes on sale later this year. Chevrolet likens the situation to the Delorean time machine in the Back To The Future movie series, which uses garbage to fuel its fusion generator. Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo could only work in a video game [w/video]

Thu, Nov 20 2014

There's something wondrous about the Vision Gran Turismo series of concepts that has let companies go wild with completely imaginary concepts for Gran Turismo. For Chevrolet's crack at the idea, it has taken a page out of its performance past with the Chaparral Can-Am racers of the '60s and '70s, with its designers having reinterpreted that period look for the future of motorsports as the Chaparral 2X. In real life, the 2X looks even better than in earlier photos. The design takes inspiration from someone in a flying suit with head down and arms outstretched, an influence you can really see that in the vehicle's shape. The driver lies facedown inside with the instruments projected onto a visor. Unfortunately, the powertrain here is a complete flight of fancy and works purely in the video game world. It imagines a laser propelled by lithium-ion batteries and an air-powered generation to make 900 horsepower. The 2X has a theoretical top speed of 240 miles per hour and hits 60 mph in a lightning-quick 1.5 seconds. Scroll down to see the concept on video with Chevrolet designers describing their inspiration and read the company's full announcement. It's also downloadable in Gran Turismo 6. Chevrolet to Show Chaparral Vision Gran Turismo Concept Boundary-pushing, Chevy-powered race cars changed motorsports design DETROIT – When racers Jim Hall and Hap Sharp founded Chaparral Cars in 1962, few could have guessed how they would shake up the conformities of the racing world – and fundamentally change it. Through pioneering applications of aerodynamics and aerospace technology, and a partnership with Chevrolet Research and Development, Chaparral Cars advanced the science of racing cars. It also triumphed on the track over well-established sports car companies from around the world, using Chevrolet horsepower. It was that spirit of innovation that inspired the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT concept race car developed for the Vision Gran Turismo project, which celebrates the 15th anniversary of PlayStation® racing game Gran Turismo by inviting manufacturers to give fans a glimpse into the future of automotive design. It will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nov. 19, and gamers will be able race the Chaparral 2X VGT following the release of an online update for Gran Turismo 6 during the holiday season.

2015 Chevrolet Trax

Thu, Dec 4 2014

After the obligatory product presentation for the 2015 Trax, I caught up with Steve Majoros, Chevrolet's director of marketing for crossovers and cars, and asked him to elaborate on which markets his planners believe will be the hot starters for this tiny CUV. Without much hesitation, Majoros began to click off traditional sales havens for Subaru, namely, New England and the snowy bits of the East Coast, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest. That news might not surprise you, but it did me. Perhaps it's something as basic as the Trax's tall-hatchback looks, or the emphasis Chevrolet put on the urban driving cycle during my test in San Diego. But before my chat with Majoros, I'd considered this a crossover pointed at the Millennial city mouse more than his bumpkin cousin. But a closer look had me re-examining the granola cred of Chevy's smallest crossover. Having spent my fair share of time in New England and around New Englanders, I started by mentally listing the Trax's Subaru-like traits: practicality, thrift, all-weather ability and, well, just a dash of ugliness. (I suppose a hatchback needn't always be ugly to sell in Maine, or Boulder or Portland... but a 'distinctive' face doesn't seem to hurt.) After a day of driving through sunny San Diego and its surroundings, I can say that Trax makes an interesting case for itself against the standard bearers of the L.L. Bean set, but I'm less sure of its argument for young urbanites. The Trax looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. Chevy's has downsized its own, rather conservative crossover styling to fit the proportions of the subcompact Trax; to my eyes, it looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. That's fine for offering a cohesive look for the Chevy family of crossovers, but it seems out of step with the rest of the segment. If the Trax's current competitive set were the cast of a high school-based TV show, the Kia Soul would play the lovable nerd, the Nissan Juke perhaps the outsider musician and the Subaru XV Crosstrek the athletic outdoorsy kid. Chevy may see the Trax as the hipster chick wearing intentionally ironic mom jeans, but to me the styling is a little too on the nose; more like an actual grownup trying to hang with the kids. These mom jeans are genuine. Per my earlier point, that quasi-conservative look may be just fast enough for staid New Englanders, but I have a hard time seeing the bluff, big-Bowtied front end playing in Bushwick or Wicker Park.
