1979 Chevrolet Corvette T-Top Sport Coupe

Professional show quality base coat clear coat repaint in the correct Corvette Yellow finish
Original Corvette Yellow Exterior and Black Leather Interior
Outstanding original interior in excellent condition
Matching numbers original engine car
Nicely documented car with prior service receipts
Super sharp and drives as good as it looks

Everything except for the clock in proper working condition including the a/c, wipers, headlights, cruise control,
lights, heater, etc.

I cannot stress enough just how nice this paint job is on this car. Yes there our others cheaper but I guarantee
they do not have a show finish like this one! The Corvettes similar priced in the teens do not even come close to
the quality of this Corvette. The paint job on this car would cost you half of the cars asking price! A show
quality base coat clear coat PPG finish like this one does not come by cheap these days. You cannot appreciate the
car until you see it in person.

This 1979 Corvette is not only a super nice one but extremely flashy. The car is an original yellow one and that
color was the rarest in 1979. In fact out of 53,807 built that year only 2,357 were painted this color. That figure
does not break down how many with the black interior as this one as there were other choices for the interior
color. In my opinion the yellow with the black leather combination is the best! The paint finish on this car is
show quality. Redone in 2014 and no flaws showing. The doors all fit nice and the hood gaps are just like they
should be. The entire car was redone nicely except the paint on the door jambs were left alone and all visible GM
decals and stickers are still intact. The inner hood lip was resprayed and looks nice. The overall car is one of
the nicest examples of a 1979 you will find. Most original survivors with the original paint need to be redone. The
paint was lacquer back in those days and even if kept inside the finish is just not like this one. You really must
see this car in person to appreciate the quality of the paint. The body on the car is and was virgin and untouched
to the best of our knowledge. The window glass is all original to the car. The front and rear bumpers are the
original ones and have plenty of flex in them. No stress cracking that I am aware of. The T-tops are painted ones
and fit nicely and are easy to remove and put back on. The car does have a newer replacement catalytic converter
and mufflers at some time ago. The chassis on the car has not been undercoated and mostly original except for the
exhaust system, shocks, brakes, etc. The brake calipers were replaced at the time of the paint job. The frame is
nice and solid. Even the gas tank is not showing signs of rust or corrosion. The spare tire compartment was removed
and cleaned and does still have the original spare, jack and lug wrench.

The interior of the car is mostly all original and in excellent shape as you can see in the photos. The seats are
in great shape along with the door panels and dash assembly. The carpet is even original and surprisingly in good
condition. The floor mats have been replaced and all gauges have been removed and cleaned of any dust behind the
lenses. About the only non-original item is the radio as it is an aftermarket Kenwood am/fm cassette player. The
center console was not cut as the aftermarket radio fits nicely into the original slot with just a faceplate cover
over the radio. The speakers have been replaced and the sound is nice. The steering wheel has not collapsed and the
leather is as new. The instruments still have the color in them and not faded. All interior plastic trim pieces are
in great shape and the original seat belts are there. We did replace a few screws, sill plates and the plastic
center console to finish the interior out as new. The courtesy lights work and all instrument lights work.

The engine compartment is detailed out as original. This was only a cosmetic detail. We did replace the hoses,
valve cover gaskets, and carburetor was removed and cleaned. Even the choke on the carburetor still works properly.
The fan blade and a few other items were just refinished to look nice. No restoration needed just some refreshing
to give it the look as if just rolled of the assembly line. The engine runs out smooth and runs out impressive. No
rattles and wind noise when the windows are rolled up. Heater works great. Air conditioning works as well. This is
a corvette that not only show but can be driven as well. I would not be afraid to take this car on a road trip if
so desired. We did service the car, oil change and filter and installed a correct A/C PF25 white oil filter,
changed the rear end grease, transmission fluid changed and new pan gasket, and the antifreeze was also flushed and
changed. You should not need to do anything to this one but enjoy and drive. However, with that said they are still
older cars and need to be maintained, serviced, and looked at on occasion to maintain everything in working order.
The battery also has a quick disconnect switch.

Documentation includes a copy of the original dealer invoice, window sticker, original EPA fuel economy label,
original owners manual, original pre-delivery checklist sheet, original vin # labels for warranty back in the day,
all brochures that were included in the owners manual bag including consumer information, maintenance schedule,
brochure on chemical paint spotting, and the original plastic bag the owners manual came in. I do also have
original service receipts back in the day when the car was serviced, a sales brochure, assembly manual and some
other information pertaining to the 1979 model year. The car does have both original t-top storage bags, original
spare tire lock, and the jack and lug wrench. The rear storage strap for the T-tops is also there. Nicely
documented car that sold new in Illinois.

1979 was the last year for the 140 M.P.H. speedometer and in late 79 some corvettes were built with 85 mph ones.
This was also the first production year for the new "High Back" seat style that was introduced in the 1978 pace car
replicas only and became standard equipment in 1979. Extensive use of plastic in the frame structure resulted in
weight reduction of about twelve pounds per seat. The new seats had better side bolster support, and the backs
folded at a higher point to permit easier rear storage access. Inertia locking mechanisms restrained the backs in
sudden deceleration, negating the need for manual locks. Driver and passenger seat tracks were redesigned for an
additional inch of forward travel. Tungsten-halogen headlight beams were phased into 1979 production early in the
production year for increased visibility. Output for both engines offered in 1979 increased by 5 h.p. due to a new
"open flow' muffler design. Also the L-48 included the L-82's low restriction, dual snorkel air intake to the
engine adding another 5 h.p. as well.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega

Sat, 19 Oct 2013

Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.

12 new cars that will never go out of style

Tue, Nov 23 2021

Some cars never go out of style. It’s rare, but it happens. They get old. They get depreciated. But they never stop looking cool.  Some might call them modern or instant classics. Within a few years theyÂ’re no longer the latest and greatest, no longer the flavor of the month, but they remain special. Eternally special. Timeless.  These cars arenÂ’t necessarily going to be worth a fortune someday. However, some may not depreciate as rapidly or as far as other models. But thatÂ’s not what weÂ’re talking about here. These are the cars that enthusiasts will always find desirable from the curbside. TheyÂ’re the cars you end up shopping on eBay late at night 10 years later because you canÂ’t get them out of your head. TheyÂ’re the cars that will forever excite you when you spot a clean one in traffic or in a parking lot.  There are plenty of recent examples over the past couple of decades that could count as instant design classics. But then we got to thinking, what 2021 models will be forever cool to stare at? Which new cars and trucks on sale today will we be shopping on eBay late at night in the 2030s? We kept supercars and other ultra-expensive cars off the list to keep things within the realm of attainability, and ended up with 12 total cars. Lexus LC WeÂ’re not applying a numerical ranking to any of the cars on this list, but if we were, the Lexus LC would be No. 1. There isnÂ’t another car design out there that can stir our emotions the way an LC can when itÂ’s just standing still. This car is a concept design come true in the most beautiful of ways, and itÂ’s a shoo-in winner for Concours events decades into the future. All of this heaping praise, and we havenÂ’t even gotten to the LC 500Â’s intoxicating 5.0-liter V8. It doesnÂ’t win drag races. It wonÂ’t be the fastest around the track against any similarly-priced competition. But none of that matters. ItÂ’s quite possibly the best car you can buy new, and that says it all when it comes to the LC. Chevrolet Corvette It might not be the stunner that the Lexus LC is, but the new C8 Corvette is and will always be a special vehicle. ItÂ’s the first mid-engine Corvette, which instantly cements it into an automotive hall of fame section of sorts. All of the performance stats and specs are there to back up its supercar-like looks, and it remains the best performance bargain on sale today.
