1978 Indy Pace Car Corvette on 2040-cars
Oroville, California, United States
Up for sale is an extremely rare 1978 Chevrolet Corvette silver anniversary Indy 500 Pace car. This car has ACTUAL 64000 miles. It has sat in a storage building for many years. It is a 2 owner car purchase by the same family. This is a true California car with actual miles. The paint on this vette is in good shape for a daily driver, it is not in show condition. The body is immaculate and the interior is in fair shape with some stitching coming apart. The carpet is intact and decent but should be changed out. The glass is all in excellent shape. The dash is excellent, the T-tops as well. Mechanically she is in excellent shape. She starts right up, no smoke, no leaks and no rust underneath. She runs and drives very nice and can be driven while restoring her to the original Indy Pace car. This Corvette will need the decals replaced, carpet and eventually paint and possibly interior. The tires on the car are in excellent condition but are very old and should also be replaced. All in all, this is a great opportunity to own an extremely rare and classic Indy 500 Corvette pace car at a fraction of what it is worth. Please email or call with any questions 530-519-2195. The car can be stored for a reasonable amount of time without cost. I will assist in shipping all I can but the cost is the responsibility of the buyer. On Mar-16-14 at 16:14:57 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE !!! The VIN on this car is 1Z87L8S904069. I inadvertently left out the engine identifier digit being an " L ". This is an original L48 car, meaning 220 hp original as driven in the Indy 500, NOT an L82. |

This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum
Tue, Aug 27 2019Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles. The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.
Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow
Thu, 14 Feb 2013After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas
Wed, Oct 29 2014Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
