Up For Sale is a 1978 Corvette Silver Anniversary Coupe with 28350 original miles. It came equipped with the larger 220 HP L82 motor Automatic transmission, power windows, power brakes , power steering, tilt and telescoping wheel, AM/FM 8 track, power antenna, T Tops, Blue cloth and leather interior. The 4 barrel carburetor was rebuilt about 3 1/2 years ago and the transmission was rebuilt 1 1/2 years ago. The motor runs great. The A/C has been changed over to R134 and blows cold. The car is 100% original like it came off the assembly line except for the Hooker header side pipes that give the car a great sound. I am the 4th owner and I have had the car for 6 years. The car turns heads and get thumbs up every time I take it out. The PO had replaced all of the brake calipers and pads just prior to me buying it. The car does not drip oil or smoke and is in excellent condition for a car of it's age. It has 3 minor things that need attention. 1) the drivers window regulator is missing a track wheel on the back side making the window loose when going up and down and goes up about 1/4" to high in the back. I assume the regulator needs to be replaced. 2) The solenoid that kicks up the idle when the A/C is turned on needs to be adjusted. I replaced the solenoid but can't get it adjusted ( does not affect the a/c). 3) the clock doesn't work. The original paint is in great shape with no major scratched of dings and shines really nice, the tape stripe between the silver and gray has one scuff mark on the front passenger corner(see pic). I am an individual not a dealer that is trying to sell this car. I have described it to the best of my ability. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. All reasonable offers will be considered. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to stop this auction at any time. |

Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers
Wed, Aug 14 2024Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.
Recharge Wrap-up: EV torque secrets, UC Davis maps future of biofuels
Fri, Jul 25 2014A UC Davis white paper maps out "Three Routes Forward for Biofuels," balancing investment risk with carbon benefits. The first option is "incremental," in which we tinker with the existing biofuel manufacturing infrastructure for small improvements over time. The "transitional" plan suggests integrating cellulosic production and other innovations with existing operations. The third route, called "leapfrogging," would mean building refineries based on new technology such as cellulosic and algae-based biofuels. The paper suggests ways the US could use these three routes together in different areas, and predicts the payoffs in terms of carbon emissions could be significant if the right people are willing to risk the capital. After all, financial advisers are always telling investors to diversify their portfolios to manage risk and rewards in the same way. The seventh round of the inaugural all-electric race season, which was moved from Los Angeles to the streets of Long Beach, will offer fans free grandstand and general admission. The race, which takes place on April 5, 2015, will use a 1.6-mile portion of IndyCar's Grand Prix of Long Beach. Read more at LA Times. Polaris is now offering its 2015 GEM electric vehicles, including the new street-legal eM1400 LSV. The passenger and utility vehicles come in two- to six-passenger configurations, many of which are street legal on roads with posted speed limits of up to 35 miles per hour. The eM1400 LSV utility vehicle seats two, offers 1,250 pounds of payload, 1,250 pounds of towing capacity, a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 45 miles. Its on-board charger plugs into any standard 110-volt outlet. Read more at Hybrid Cars and check out all the different configurations yourself at the Polaris website. In EVs, more torque does not always equal faster. Green Car Reports found this out when driving the Fiat 500e (with 147 pound-feet) against the similarly weighted Chevrolet Spark EV (with 400 pound-feet). The secret is, at least in part, in the gearing. The Fiat has a 9.6:1 reduction gear, making it quicker at lower speeds despite having far less available torque, while the Chevy uses a 3:1 ratio. The trade-off though, is in top speed. Furthermore, Chevy electronically limits the torque delivery at low speeds, as 400 pound-feet is a lot of launch for the little Spark EV to handle.
GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
