THIS IS A 1978 CORVETTE INDY 500 PACE CAR (REAL ONE, NOT A CLONE) THAT HAS THE MATCHING NUMBERS 350 L-82 V8 . TURN-KEY AND A GREAT CAR TO DRIVE ANYWHERE!

We purchased this Pace car in 2003. We always wanted a L-82 1978 Pace Car because they are such nice looking cars. This is a very original Matching Numbers car with 82,000 +/- original miles. Over the years we have redone the front bushings, idler arm, front and wheel rear bearings, power steering hoses, power cylinder, power control valve, master cylinder, brakes, water pump, rear end bushings, changed all four shocks, oil changes, tune ups, just to have it running correctly so we could use it any time we wanted. New battery, tires, and wiper blades installed recently.

Options This Pace Car has all the standard Pace Car options special black and silver paint, AC, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power brakes disc brakes, Tilt telescopic steering wheel, factory gauges, automatic transmission, L-82 engine with 220 horsepower, AM FM CB radio, power antenna, Front and rear spoilers, rear window defogger, sports mirrors, cruise control (not working), rear speakers, factory aluminum wheels with pinstripe, convenience interior lighting group, Delay windshield wipers. All options work unless I identified it as not working.

Mechanically the original L-82 350 V8 in it it fires right up and sounds great. Transmission is also the original automatic and shifts great. Brakes work. Steers and drives nice with no play in the wheel. When we purchased it, we drove it a long distance from Ohio (18/19 hours) to Florida and it ran without skipping a beat. Overall very sound and reliable car that can be used daily if desired. The AC works just like it did in 1978 has R134 conversion. Lights work properly up and down.

Motor is the factory matching numbers L82. It has been serviced regularly and driven on occasion throughout the last decade. Very healthy overall.  Has all the smog equipment still on engine. Transmission shifts great. All the gauges work and all lights are operable. Both front lights operate up and down properly with no delay when turned on.

Interior is basically all original to the car except for the seats covers which were redone some years ago . Door panels are all original. Carpet is original and has new floor mats. Dash pad has one small crack. Steering wheel has some wear.  Console is has an aftermarket pad on top, in great shape. Overall a very presentable driver quality interior.

Underside is very nice with solid frame with original exhaust. Car has brand new tires.

If you just want a very nice mostly original driver that turns heads, this is the car for you.  Paint is overall good and cleans up very well with very minor imperfections from regular use. Not working: is the clock

Everything else works, horn, AM FM CB radio, power antenna, air conditioning  recharged with R134, power door locks, power windows.

I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM .

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
