1977 L48 Chevrolet Corvette.   I purchased this vehicle last year from a Corvette Dealer in NC.  The dealer has been in business for 40 years and is known for selling nice Corvettes.  The car was miles exempt when purchased. The odometer reads 06228. It is most likely 106,228  . This is a very rattle free tight driving C3 Corvette. The smoothest I have ever owned or driven. The serial numbers on the engine are for an L-48 for that year Corvette.  The interior is beautiful on the car.  I replaced the steering wheel with a new reproduction wheel.  The car also has a new Kenwood (remote control stereo). The carpet is new and the door panels look brand new.  All the gauges work. The clock is the only thing that does not work (common problem).  I had the dealership fix the headlights (they work great and go up fast and precise). The A/C blows ice cold also.  The BF Goodrich Radial T/As look brand new as do the optional factory aluminum wheels. I also put a new top of the line Advance Auto Parts battery in a few months ago.  The motor may have been rebuilt (not sure). It runs like a low mile 350.  No smoke when started or when operating. The car has a performance cam along with an Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold. Also an Edelbrock 600cfm electric choke carb. Not sure on the cam specifics. I just bought the carb from Summit Racing and had my mechanic adjust the electric choke etc. The TH350 transmission shifts smooth.  The engine leaks a small amount of oil. Not anything to notice on the dip stick. The paint is very nice on the car and only has a few minor flaws. The nose has a scratch that was touched up and the hood has a chip on the edge of it by the passengers side windshield area (photo taken).  The plastic bumperettes have a few small stress cracks in the rear bumper. Common for C3s with these bumpers due to age etc.  Very hard to notice them.  The car is not a 100 point show car.  It is a very clean C3 Corvette that you can take to a car show or drive on a nice day. This car runs great and sounds great.  I can provide further photos if needed.  The car is located in NC.

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS

Thu, Jan 29 2015

Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect.
