You're looking at my mostly original 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray t-top coupe. This is a numbers matching, original engine Vette. This car is a great runner. It was originally a pewter silver color but was repainted torch red by previous owner of almost 30 years! The paint job looks good but is not show quality (5-10 footer, nice and shiny, a few flaws up close). The car is highly optioned with tilt/tele steering wheel, power brakes, power steering, power windows, deluxe interior with leather seats, shoulder belts, and factory A/C. This car is a driver, so there are a few little flaws here and there. Nothing detracts from the beauty of this car though! It has a great stance and sits just right (not all goofy and jacked up because someone didn't know how to install new leaf springs correctly). The side pipes make it look even more aggressive, and it sounds amazing! The rear exhaust outlets are still present so if one wants to convert back to stock, it can be done quite easily. The original deluxe black leather interior looks good, but again it is in driver condition.  The drivers seat cover has been replaced, passenger has not (looks fine, just not new). Carpets are decent. Door panels and dash are nice and original. All chrome is driver quality, again...original to the car. Again, this car has never been restored but it drives and looks good. The car is now sporting an LT-1 big block style hood, which definitely looks better than the stock small block hood (was swapped out when the car was painted red years ago). This has always been a Southern car and has no rust other than simple surface stuff which is normal for a 42 year old car. It has been garage kept all its life, and since 1984 (when the previous owner bought it with approximately 64,000 miles on it) it has only traveled an additional 16,000 miles +/- to it's current reading of 80,412.  I was told by the previous owner this is original and has not rolled over. I drive the car on weekends so that number may go up slightly. The car is very strong, and pulls through all gears very well. The 4 speed tranny feels great. Tires and brakes are all good. The pop up lights work as they should. The wiper door works intermittently (probably a small vacuum leak). Interior lights work, as well as key buzzer and parking brake. I have the original radio/amp as well as an owners manual. The t-tops don't rattle, and this year still has the pop out rear glass window. Overall this is a fantastic Corvette that just needs a new owner. Drive and enjoy and restore as you go along if you desire. It is great looking and gets thumbs up every time I take her out! She's faster than my 1970 300hp Vette! This is not a $30k show car, nor is it a $10k beater. This is a basically 2 owner Vette that is mostly original (minus the color change, hood and pipes). I am a private collector thinning my collection (per my wife's request) from 15 down to 11 currently...she'd like it be 6. So, this sweet ride must go. I'm selling at NO RESERVE, so the last bid wins the car. PLEASE have all your ducks in a row, finances in order, and permission from your wife, boss, priest, whomever BEFORE bidding and certainly before winning! The car MUST be paid in FULL than no later than 5 days after auction ends. You don't have to pick it up by then, but it MUST be paid for by then. PERIOD. I have had 2 bad experiences in the last month with bidders not paying for 2 other cars I sold. I'm over it. This is not a game. It costs ME time and money to keep relisting. It's an auction. You win, you bought it. Car is for sale locally so the auction could end at any time. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to make an offer. All sales are final, no refunds and no warranty is expressed or implied. This car is 41 years old. It is a great driver and will give you years of fun. If you want perfection, go spend $30-40k for a restored one. If you want killer looks, performance, and a blast to drive at a fraction of that...then buy mine. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. Remember, this is a no reserve auction..so bid high and bid often. Last bid wins! Good luck!

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Nissan Leaf makes it 19 in a row for record sales; Chevy Volt drops 21 percent

Wed, Oct 1 2014

The Nissan Leaf continues its streak of "best month ever" sales with 2,881 EVs sold in September. Compared to the 1,953 sold in September 2013, that represents an increase of 47.5 percent and, as Nissan itself must be tired of saying by now, it marks yet another best month ever, same as last month and now the 19th in a row. Okay, sure, we know, Nissan will tout this run for as long as it can, but we're certainly expecting it each month, so if it ever doesn't happen, it'll be interesting to see how Nissan talks about it. Year-to-date, Leaf sales are up 35.7 percent compared to 2013. In any case, Nissan's director of EV marketing, Toby Perry, sent AutoblogGreen a statement that said, "Nissan Leaf owners have turned into some of our best marketers, and they jump at any opportunity to share their enthusiasm with friends and family. Take National Drive Electric Week – a grassroots celebration of all things EV and the perfect platform for LEAF owners to showcase the benefits of going electric. After celebrating with EV owners in more than 130 cities across the country, we saw a significant increase in Leaf showroom visits with midweek traffic just as heavy as what we see on the weekends." Year-to-date, Leaf sales are up 35.7 percent compared to 2013. Over on the Chevy Volt front, things aren't quite as rosy. After coming off a good August (the best sales month of 2014 by almost 500 units), Volt sales were down to 1,394, a decrease of 21.1 percent compared to September 2013. So far this year, Volt sales are down 13.2 percent year-over-year. It's kind of a stretch, but perhaps people are already waiting for the next-gen Volt, which will be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January, to go on sale? Speaking of things we say every month, our in-depth round-up of US green car sales is in process and will be appearing soon. Until then, please discuss how these two long-standing plug-in champs are doing on the sales floor. Green Chevrolet Nissan Electric Hybrid PHEV ev sales hybrid sales
