For sale is my 1969 Corvette. I have had this car for 17 years and it is time to finally sell it due to not having enough time to use it. I will try my best in describing the car in detail in the following description. Any question feel free to call 716-550-1628. If I do not answer, please leave a message and I will get back to you. FIRST, the car is NOT a numbers matching original. I did not buy it like that and had no interest in such a vehicle. The person I bought it from 17 years ago did not have much information to give me other than it was living most of its life in PA and then southern NY. Paint/Body: Originally the car was Monza Red, but I had it changed to a type of Blue. Unfortunately the painter did not listen to me and painted it a type of blue, that has a hue of purple in it depending on the light. It might look a nice rich blue, or a dark purple. The paint job is a 8 foot paint job, meaning from 8 feet away it looks good. This car is a driver and has a couple of scratches, that are not that noticeable to most people, but I can see it right away. The t-tops and after market hood, have typical gel coat spider cracking, again the painter assured me would not happen for many years, it has been 5. Seeing the motor does not create vacuum, the headlight need to be raised and lower manually. There are electric conversions out there, but I could not see spending the over $800 to have something I have been doing for years. Almost all of the moulding has been replaced with quality aftermarket pieces. The bumpers have been rechromed about 7 years ago. Engine: Currently the engine is a 383 stroker with 10.5:1 compression and mechanical roller cam. I cannot find the cam card anymore, but it has a lift of over .700”. This motor has been built to be shifted at 7200 rpm, and has a single plane Holly Strip dominator intake on it. The heads are Airflow Research AFR 215 heads, 7qt miloden oil pan. I have had the valve springs replaced 2 years ago, to make sure I would not have any problems. Originally the setup had 1-7/8” headers, a 875cfm modified double pumper carb, and a msd set up. It was a bear to drive on the street all the time, so I detuned it a bit and put on a HEI distributor, 750 cdm vacuum secondary carb, and 1-5/8” headers. It seems to make it a little more tolerable when driving around. Transmission/driveline: When I bought the car it was a 4-sp manual, but latter, my knees could not keep up with the heavy mechanical clutch, so I switched to a TH-400 with a manual valve body. It is a built transmission that can handle anything you can throw at it. The rear end posi unit has been rebuilt 14 years ago along with all the trailing arm bearings and bushings. The rear end gear is a 3.55. All ujoints are spicer branded. Chassis/brakes: The car is a manual brake car with replace calipers. The brake lines are stainless steel braided lines. The car is a manual steering car with newer Moog ball joints, idler arm, and all tie rods. The sway bar links, and control arm bushings are poly urethane, energy suspension equipped. All of the shocks are Bilsteins. The front coil springs are rated for handling, and the rear is a fiberglass design with a high lb for better handling. The tires are BF Goodrich 255/60-r15 at all 4. The rims, and associated trim accessories are aftermarket, the car when I bought it had miss matching Cragar S/S which are long gone. Interior: I had gotten rid of the original gauges about 10 years ago, the milage on the original was in the 66000 range. I always loved the Auto-meter gauges, and on the new speedo, the odometer is only at a little after 1. I had a hard time finding the correct speedometer set up along with the cable. When I got the transmission, the shop neglected to put in the speedo cable pick up, and I had a hard time finding one, that was reasonably priced. I was able to now and the speedo does work, but I have not had the car on the road in a couple of years. The car does get driven on my property, it does not sit around. I am not sure on the accuracy of the speedo, the gear in the transmission may have to be changed. The seats, have been reupholstered to a vinyl leather simulation. The carpet has been redone and installed with in the last year. The seat belts are original for this car, the shoulder belt and the lap belts all work. The radio is a custom auto sound unit that has a aux input for headphone jack. Seeing I drive this car in nice weather, I had a leaky heater core and decided to take out all of the HVAC in this car, I didn’t see the need to have it. The controls are still in place along with the wiring, but the heater hoses and the heater control valve are gone. The manual crank windows work as intended, and go fully all the way up and down with no issues. I did replace the weather stripping last year around the doors. Asking price is $15,000/BO. I would like to sell my car, I do not NEED to sell it, so please don’t waste either of our times and low ball a offer. $250 deposit is required at time of commitment of purchase, which is non refundable, unless I am contacted and some sort of an agreement could be met. This posting can be cancelled at any time due to me selling the car locally. Shipping: The car is located in Wheatfield, NY (between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY) I have the car in my garage, and I unfortunately have no means of trailering it to any destination. One would have to come to my property and pick up the vehicle. |

Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans
Thu, Apr 30 2020Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
Recharge Wrap-up: Range-extended EV taxis in London, 2016 Chevy Volt interior two years old
Fri, Feb 13 2015The first Metrocab range-extended EV taxis are operating on the streets of London. The cabs use a 12.2-kWh battery and two 50-kW motors, as well as a 1.0-liter gasoline range extender. Fuel economy is 98 MPGe on the ECE101 cycle, and total driving range is over 348 miles before needing to charge or refuel. Cabbies can expect to save GBP20 to GBP40 (about $30 to $60) per day on average. "The cash savings on fuel are significant, the ride and comfort outstanding, and my first customers are thrilled with the new cab," says the first operator of the new EV taxi, Preston Morris. "With its air suspension providing unrivaled comfort, panoramic glass roof for views of the city and silent powertrain, what's not to like?" Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet has had the interior design of the 2016 Volt finished for two years already, according to GM interior designer John McDougall. Beginning around 2010, GM received sketches from designers worldwide before narrowing it down to a handful of designs. Then the top three choices were molded from clay. The chosen theme was then refined for up to 18 months. "Every little thing you can imagine goes into that," says McDougall. "The glare angle from the windows, the placement of the controls, the placement of the seat. You have to create something that's beautiful and functional." Read more at GM Authority and at Inside EVs. More details have emerged about the Second Life Batteries Alliance. Vattenfall has announced a research project in partnership with BMW and Bosch to use retired EV batteries for stationary, grid-connected energy storage in Hamburg, Germany. Over 100 lithium-ion batteries from BMW i3 and ActiveE vehicles will make up a two-mWh storage unit for grid balancing, enough to power 30 four-person households for a week. The system is "compact enough to fit in a small building," says Bosch. Such storage systems are especially fit for storing and moving alternative forms of energy, which often fluctuate in supply more than electricity from a traditional power plant. Vattenhall will operate the storage unit for 10 years, with Bosch managing the batteries, during which time the three partners hope to learn more about battery applications and their performance over time. Our favorite mid-engine Corvette theories and rumors
Tue, Sep 13 2016The mid-engine Corvette! We just saw blurry photos through the foliage, and are hearts are all aflutter because it means that this car is real. And it's the most " never before" Corvette since 1984. Which leads us to all kinds of wacky theories and speculation. Everybody knows something or heard from a guy. None of those guys (or gals) from GM are talking to Autoblog, to be clear. But that won't stop us from stirring the pot. Let's go over a few point-by-point. The pushrod engine will be replaced by an overhead-cam V8 Car and Driver has repeatedly reported that an overhead-cam engine will come after the mid-engine Corvette's debut with an old-school pushrod. We've heard the same thing firsthand, albeit from a source with no connection to the development of the Corvette or powertrain. "At some point two valves can't pass future emissions regulations," said the guy we know. While the pushrod engine is compact, the design makes it difficult - if not impossible - for sophisticated variable valve timing (and lift) systems that control combustion with more precision. Hasty conclusion: The pushrod engine has a finite life in front of it. This one's a lock, it's a just a matter of when. Bowling Green's new paint shop is really the mid-engine assembly line Credit to Reddit for this one. Like we said, everybody knows a guy. But let's look deeper. The new paint facility costs $439 million dollars and adds 450,000 square feet, almost half the size of the existing plant. Plus GM announced another $290 million in upgrades at Bowling Green Assembly. That sure sounds like a lot of money, but you can actually spend that much on a paint booth. Porsche spent 500 million Euros (about $561 million dollars) to add the Macan assembly to its Leipzig, Germany plant in 2014. Chrysler shelled out $850 million for a paint shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan. GM spent $600 million for a new paint shop at the Fairfax (Kansas City) plant. Honda, on the other hand, is working on a thrifty $210 million project in Marysville, Ohio that includes a 300,000 square foot expansion, and the low-volume Acura NSX facility only cost $70 million. Hasty conclusion: The square footage and cost could easily mean a new assembly line instead of (or in addition to) a paint line. And if the NSX plant was really that cheap, GM could have hidden a similar sum in its existing announcements.
