1966 Corvette Air Coupe on 2040-cars

1966 Corvette Air Coupe
I recent purchased this
Corvette from a gentleman in Florida who had owned it for over 20 years. I had planned on keeping it for at least a
couple of years but as we all know, plans do change. I am going in a different direction and since
I only have a two car garage, the Corvette will be sold. The Corvette is in amazing
condition considering the time that has gone by since a frame-off restoration
was done. It was restored in the
mid-nineties but has only been driven an average of 450 miles per year. There is an extensive amount of documentation
on the car covering the past 21 years. For several years the car
was on the NCRS show circuit capturing Top Flight, Regional Awards, and
Bloomington Gold. After finishing with
the shows, the original numbers matching 327/300 HP engine was removed and replaced
with a period correct 327/365 HP engine.
The original engine (which had approximately 4700 miles on it since being
rebuilt) was stored for future use. According
to the previous owner, the 327/365 HP engine (which is what is in the car now)
is a low mileage engine. Records
indicate that only approximately 2000 miles have been put on it since being
installed. The original engine, along
with an original set of Kelsey Hayes steel wheels and beautiful original
spinner hubcaps are included with the vehicle.
The original engine and wheels will allow the new owner to bring the car
back to the way it rolled off of the assembly line, if he/she so desires. However, they just might agree with the previous
owner that it looks much nicer the way it is currently set-up. Some of the factory installed
options are Power Steering, Tinted Glass, four speed standard transmission and factory
A/C. The factory AC makes this an all season
driver, and an extremely nice driver it is.
It will be hard to find another Corvette as nice as this one. As they say a picture is worth
a thousand words, so please look them over and I’m sure you are going to have questions
so please do not hesitate to call. PLEASE
NOTE: If you are a Nevada resident,
there is no sales tax on a vehicle purchased from a private individual. This will save you almost $5000 over one
purchased from a dealer. I have a free
and clear title to the car. This car is almost fifty
years old and is being sold as is where is.
I will not be responsible for any
repairs after the purchase has been completed. The car is available for inspection
by appointment only. The Corvette may be advertised
in other venues. Therefore, I reserve
the right to cancel the auction prior to the car meeting the reserve. |

GM's European Opel division may eventually go all-electric
Wed, Feb 15 2017General Motors' Opel division in Europe may transform itself into an all-electric vehicle maker by 2030. Granted, a lot can happen between now and then, including a potential buyout by French automaker PSA Group. Regardless, Opel appears to view its electric future beyond the Ampera-e, which is the sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Bolt, and more like Tesla. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann indicated that focusing on electric drivetrains would be a superior strategy to expanding its EV technology while pushing forward with conventional drivetrains, says Automotive News Europe, citing comments Neumann made to German publication Manager Magazin. General Motors could make the decision to move towards an all-electric vehicle line for Opel as soon as May. Of course, that depends on whether Opel is bought out by PSA, the parent country to Peugeot and Citroen. PSA is in talks to buy General Motors' Opel and Vauxhall divisions, though government and labor representatives in Germany have expressed concerns over potential job losses from the proposed buyout, Reuters says. Regardless, GM has hinted at expanding its electric-vehicle line far beyond the Bolt, which has a 238-mile single-charge range and debuted late last year. Mary Barra, in an interview with CNET, said the Bolt's all-electric platform could be applied to a "huge range of vehicles," though wasn't specific about additional EV models. Opel first showed off its Ampera-e at the Paris Motor Show last fall. The name of the model raised some eyebrows because the Ampera badge had been previously used by Opel for the sister version of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in. Either way, Opel is looking to take on Renault for electric-vehicle sales supremacy across the Pond. Related Video:
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada
Sat, May 9 2015Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.
