This 64 Roadster was purchased NEW here in Arvada, Colorado by a family friend of ours. It was owned by the original owner until I purchased the car in 2009. The miles are a true 28,000 , that was verified by the original owners family and we have known the car for a very long time and know their real.
The car left the factory as a Ermine white car with blue interior; it was a 375 h.p. Fuelie / 4,speed. Options included 4.11:1 posi differential, power windows, AM/FM radio and auxiliary hardtop. Immediatley after purchasing the car Don Connelly (our friend and the original owner) began customizing the car. It began with lots of chrome under the hood, removing the bumpers, six tail lights and american racing wheels.
By 65 it had a flaired fenders, custom maroon paint, white tuck and roll interior and side exhaust and was traveling the ISCA show car circuit. At the time, this was the only real big time competition car show circuit. The more shows you attended throughout the country the more points your car earned. The competion was fierce and every season new builds came on the scene. With this, Don totally changed the car for the 66 ISCA season.
The body was modified even more with the front air scoop, moved the headlights into the grill, side exhaust that went through the fenders, shaved handles, air scoops, loovered hardtop, removeable hood scoop (included)and the rear spoiler. The original Fuelie was swapped for a crate 427 with weber carbs. And a new light yellow metallic paint job was completed. This was the season where the car truly began earning top honors. The car was always lettered as a Pikes Peek hill climb car, but I dont have any proof it ever ran the race. Judging by the undercarriage and overall cleanleyness of the car, I dont think it ever saw wet pavement. It was truly a show car since brand new.
In the 66 and 67 season Don trailered the car to multiple shows where it was featured and competed with George Barris cars and Big Daddy Roth cars. In its class, it was a winner. I have a huge box of magazine articles, newspaper clipings, posters, show programs, awards and old photographs of the car. This was one of the first mid year Corvettes (63-67) to be a full ISCA Show Car and to compete for international honors. It was described as the only "SHOW STING RAY" of its time. Not that there were not other show mid year Corvettes, but this car was one of the first and most featured.
Later in 68, the paint job changed again. This was the begenning of wild multi color schemes. It was all candys and fades. Again winning many shows. The paint job it curently sports was done in the 1970's. All lacquer candy with lots of beautiful detail. I believe this is the best looking paint job it ever got and I think Don stopped modifying the car at just the right time.
By mid 70's the car was parked and covered in the garage. Until I purchased the car in 2009 it had not ran for years and years but was well preserved as an amazing time capsole of Customs of the 1960's and 1970's. I built a 1969 327 "CE" engine for the car with 67 350 HP heads and a 69 Z28 Intake with a Holley carb. Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner finished it off as a true "erra correct" motor. It has old school side pipes that are muffled and look great. The transmission is the original with the VIN stamp on it and a very nice new clutch and flywheel.
I have been very cautious to not change much on this car. I feel its overall condition and look is irreplaceable as an original custom. It drives like a dream and how you would expect a 28,000 mile car to drive. Its tight and smooth. All guages work including the original radio and power windows. This is not only a great time capsole of an erra we will never see again, but a awesome driver. It also is a huge head turner, people go nuts at shows for it............especially little kids. For NCRS sake, i tried very hard to track down the original engine with no luck. I was told it ended up in a old shop truck that needed a engine. That was in the late 60's. The old shop truck has not been seen for decades, so i guess its gone. I feel the car should stay as it is................
If you have questions please call me at 303 475-4544. I will listen to offers but please bid. Thanks for viewing my Corvette.
On Feb-22-13 at 08:26:54 PST, seller added the following information:
The original soft top and frame were removed when the car was first customized, so their gone. But the original hard top is included with the car and it was painted when the car was painted and matches well. Its in great shape with the headliner matching the dash pads, chromed trim and three wild scoops on the top of the roof panel. Trust me.....its cool. If you look closely at the photo of the front of the car in my garage, you can see the hardtop leaning against the wall. Ill try to download a photo of it.
The wheels are the actual wheels that were on the car since 65 and are perfect with no scrapes etc. The roll bar has a removeable piece that goes from the center of the hoop down to the passenger side floor near the kick panel. It chromed to match and looks cool, I just have it out for ease of having a passenger.
I am also getting lots of questions about the overall condition of the paint. Since it was painted over 40 years ago it has some very minor blemishes. There are a few small stone chips on the front nose and behind the rear tires, there are several paint chips from sitting in the garage for so long, but these have been touched up and look fine. There is absoutley ZERO lacquer check. All of the chrome is very nice and has no pitting, like the tail light housings and vent windows. All of the vinyl and rubber is nice and soft with no cracks or dry rott. The seats are the originals (not recovered) and perfect.
I have the title in hand and in my name.

GM trucks get hybrid versions, but you'll probably never see one
Thu, Feb 25 2016A few years ago, General Motors sold hybrid versions of its Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. They weren't very good, using GM's old two-mode hybrid system that resulted in only negligible fuel economy gains. But GM's trying again, launching eAssist models of the 2016 Silverado and Sierra that are said to offer 2-mpg improvements in city, highway, and combined fuel economy ratings. Problem is, you probably won't be able to get one. Only 700 eAssist trucks will be made for the 2016 model year – 500 Silverados and 200 Sierras. When you consider that GM moved 824,683 examples of its light-duty pickups in 2015, this small run represents 0.08-percent of all Silverado/Sierra production, and GM says it "will monitor the market closely ... and adjust as appropriate moving forward." But that's not the only limitation. The eAssist trucks will only be sold through California dealers. For the Silverado, eAssist can only be optioned on the 1500 Crew Cab 1LT 2WD model, and for the Sierra, the fuel-saving technology is solely available on the 1500 SLT Crew Cab 2WD model with the SLT Premium Plus package. Granted, in terms of the Sierra, that means you get niceties like LED headlights and taillights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose premium audio, heated seats and steering wheel, lane keep assist, and more. In the trucks, eAssist combines a small electric motor and 0.45-kWh battery pack with the pickups' 5.3-liter V8. GM estimates total output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque – no more horsepower than the non-eAssist trucks, but three more pound-feet of torque. GM says the eAssist trucks can tow up to 9,400 pounds, and the battery only adds 100 pounds to the trucks' weight. The electric motor provides 13 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque for a boost of acceleration off the line, or during passing. It also allows the engine to run in four-cylinder mode for longer periods of time. eAssist uses regenerative braking to help power onboard electrical systems, and adds start/stop to the powertrain. Finally, the so-equipped trucks have a six-percent improvement in aerodynamics, thanks to a soft tonneau cover and active grille shutters in the front fascia. Great news is, the eAssist option is relatively inexpensive, only costing $500. But good luck getting your hands on one.
A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes
Wed, Feb 19 2014There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
New Takata problem results in recall of 414 GM vehicles
Mon, Oct 19 2015An airbag-inflator rupture discovered by Takata during testing has resulted in a new recall affecting 414 vehicles from General Motors, including 395 of them in the US. This latest campaign covers 2015 model-year examples of the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain. There are no reported breaks in any of these vehicles on the road, and the company estimates only one percent of them actually have the faulty parts. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), one side-airbag inflator failed a cold test at -40 Fahrenheit "releasing high pressure gas and propelling the separated components apart." The supplier told GM about the failure the next day. In these vehicles, the safety device might not only burst but the bag could inflate incorrectly, as well. GM and Takata say that a cause is not yet known, but they are "conducting an investigation." GM will begin notifying affected owners via overnight mail on Oct. 19. Dealers will replace the side airbag modules on all of the affected vehicles with new components outside of the suspect lot. All of the removed parts will also be collected for further study. Takata's faulty front airbag inflators have resulted in a serious scandal for the supplier. Initial figures indicated 34 million US vehicles are need of repair, though more recent figures have knocked that down to 23.4 million bad parts in 19.2 million automobiles. GM was already among the dozen automakers with models to fix, and some of its pickups were affected, along with the Saab 9-2X and Pontiac Vibe. GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 395 cars and crossovers in the U.S. because one of the front seat side air bags inflators may be defective. In the event of a deployment, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. GM is unaware of any incidents involving vehicles with these components, which were part of a lot in which one inflator failed acceptance testing at the supplier. Dealers will replace the side air bag module or modules in affected vehicles. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is 414, GM estimates 1 percent of the recalled vehicles may have the defect.
