My 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. As an American icon, the
corvette needs no introduction. Since the 1950's these cars have been pushing the limits in both styling and
performance. 1963 brought a new look, new styling, and several single year only features to the corvette. The car
you see here has stood the test of time and is a remarkable example of what the 63 vette was when they were
introduced. This car is powered by its MATCHING NUMBERS 327 V8 backed by the MATCHING NUMBERS Muncie 4 speed
manual trans. The rear end is a posi traction unit of which I was told is original to the car, but I have not
verified that. The motor and trans are absolutely without question authentic and original to this vette. These
cars are getting very difficult to find in this condition that haven't had a 350 swap, or had the 327 bored stroked
and hot rodded. The underbody is as beautiful as the rest of the car and is truly a time capsule. Along with the
original motor and trans, this car is equipped with the correct intake, carb, master cylinder, original radio AND
speaker, all original gauges, and many many other parts that this car was born with. With just under 80,000
original miles, there isn't much to want that this vehicle doesn't offer. All the carpet is in beautiful
condition, the seats are flawless, the top is brand new (still has original bows and hardware, just new canvas and
window), the motor purrs like a kitten, and the trans shifts as smooth as glass. The paint is the original color,
laguna blue, but is obviously not the original paint job. The body is in great condition and laser straight. All
gaps and panel alignment is beautiful throughout the car. The car currently rides on a nice set of radials (drives
and handles like a dream) but I do have poly tires available for it if you desire. I really can not say enough
about how much I like this car, and the condition it is in. The paint is incredible and it sparkles and shines
every bit as much as you want it to! The body lines and finesse to the early to mid 60s vettes are among the
greatest in the history of automobiles. This is really a turn key car that you can enjoy as much as you like and
be confident taking it to any show nationwide and not be ashamed to park it next to anything else there. I assure
you that you'll be holding your head high and nodding as all the onlookers smile, honk, and give thumbs up.
Weather it be at your local shows, cruise nights, the dairy queen, grocery store, or a national level event this
car will get compliments. All the chrome is in excellent condition and is a great accent to the deep metallic blue
on this beauty. If you've been in the vette market and your hunting for that special car , I urge you to take a
close look at what is for sale here. Don't sit back and miss the opportunity to buy this car with all the original
components it contains.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
