It rides beautifully and is incredibly reliable.
We enjoy taking it to local and regional cars shows when the weather is nice and it is always a standout
entry winning awards very frequently. The color is Honduras Maroon (only about 1700 made in this color). The
interior seats were replaced a few years ago as was the instrument cluster (NOS) and all of the gauge faces. The
Wonderbar radio is original but has been rebuilt to include digital circuitry and AM/FM capability. New speakers
were added at the same time. The convertible top is black and has one small tear but the frame is in great
condition and the mechanism works well. I have the original color matched hardtop for the car and it is in
beautiful condition. These hardtops (if you can find them!) sell in excess of $7000.00. The hard top has its one
storage cart and dust cover which will go with the car. About two years ago I had a full custom warning harness
installed made by Lectric Limited....they are the gold standard in custom wiring harnesses. I have replaced the
original Harrison radiator with a custom Be Cool aluminum radiator which assures that the engine runs cool and
doesn't overheat, even in the warmest temperatures. I do however have the original Harrison radiator and it will go
with the car. A few years ago, I found some original spinner hub caps for the car and I installed Coker radials in
the original 1 1/4" whitewall style. Everything I have done with my car has been to keep it as original as possible
and as reliable as possible because I honestly like driving it, not worrying about it. I have lots of memorabilia
with this car (models, manuals, etc) as well as a three ring binder with all of the service records and receipts
for special upgrades and equipment purchased and installed over the last 11 years. This car is a real gem and the
new owner is really going to not only get a classic, but a great running one as well!!

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
