HERE WE HAVE A VERY NICE, RUST FREE, 1961 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THIS BEAUTY IS ALL ORIGINAL AND NUMBERS MATCHING 283 / AUTO. THE AUTOMATIC CARS ARE HARD TO FIND. I LOOKED FOR A WHILE FOR THIS ONE, SO MY WIFE COULD GET IN IT ANYTIME, AND DRIVE WITHOUT HASSLE. THE CAR WAS REPAINTED AT SOME POINT LONG AGO. THE PAINT LOOKS GOOD, BUT DOES HAVE SOME BLEMISHES WHEN YOU LOOK CLOSELY. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP, WEATHER STRIPPING, DASH PAD, AND WINDSHIELD WERE REPLACED IN 2004, AND STILL LOOK NEW. I INSTALLED A CORRECT LOOKING RADIO WITH USB PORT. THE ORIGINAL RADIO WAS REMOVED PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE OF THE CAR. THE BATTERY WAS CHANGED 11/11. OTHER THAN THAT THIS CAR IS PRETTY MUCH THE WAY IT LEFT THE FACTORY IN 1961. SHE HAS CLOCKED 77,990 MILES. THE LAST TIME THE CAR WAS OUT OF THE HEATED AND COOLED GARAGE, I DROVE IT ON A 1800 MILE TRIP WITH THE TOP DOWN AND WITH ZERO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN A TIRE ISSUE. SHE GOT A BRAND NEW SET OF COKER W.W.W. AND AN ALIGNMENT AS SOON AS I GOT HOME. SHE DIDN'T USE ANY OIL EITHER. ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES WORK. THE TACH WAS MAKING NOISE, SO I DISCONNECTED THE CABLE UNDER THE HOOD. PROBABLY NEEDS REBUILT. THE CLOCK IS RIGHT TWICE A DAY. THE HEATER WORKS GOOD. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A TROUBLE FREE C-2 VETTE, THAT YOU CAN GET IN AND GO TO THE LOCAL CRUISE IN, DINNER, OR A ROAD TRIP, THEN YOU WILL LOVE THIS CAR. SHE IS NOT A SHOW QUEEN, BUT I GET LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS, AND THUMBS UP EVERYTIME I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL. I WOULDNT BE ASHAMED AT A LOCAL SHOW EITHER. I WOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE. SHE GETS 17 MPG TOO. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, OR NEED A SPECIFIC PICTURE, FEEL FREE TO ASK. I WOULD ONLY BE INTERESTED IN TRADING FOR SOME TYPE OF RESTO ROD WITH SEATING FOR 4 (PREFER GM). NO PROJECTS. I DON'T NEED ANY MORE BOATS, ATV'S, CAMPERS, HARLEYS. I HAD NO INTENTIONS OF SELLING THIS CAR, BUT A NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY HAS MADE IT A COLLECTOR'S PIECE, AND I WANT TO DRIVE MY MACHINES. THANKS

Here's why automakers roll out those Texas-themed pickup trucks
Thu, Sep 29 2016Every year, automakers with a full-size truck link make a big show of the Texas State Fair, usually involving a reveal of a new model. Sometimes they show a whole new truck, and other times a special edition centered on the Lone Star state. While some people might write this off as a quirk of the industry, others might be wondering, "What's the big deal with Texas?" As it turns out, part of the big deal with Texas is big truck sales. According to Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager at AutoPacific, Texas buys more trucks than any other state in the country. It's not a small margin either. Edmunds.com, one in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. The state also accounts for 15 percent of the country's large truck sales, which is more than twice that of California, the second largest truck market in America. Even when you break down sales only in Texas, trucks are a huge piece of the pie - Sullivan says that a quarter of new vehicle sales in Texas are trucks. One in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. But it's not just sales that make truck builders give attention to Texas. As Sullivan explained, "Pickups are life in Texas." Both he and Hugh Milne, marketing and advertising manager for the Chevy Silverado line, said that trucks are key fixtures in Texas society, as both work trucks and luxury vehicles (or Texas Cadillacs as Milne called them). Milne said Texas is so important in the truck market that if you want to be successful in the rest of the country, "you've got to be successful in Texas." As for the State Fair, it has become a prime location for reveals in part because of the importance of the Texas market and because of how big the fair is. Milne also revealed that the State Fair also hosts its own auto show, so it's an ideal venue for a vehicle introduction. So there you have it. Why do truck builders obsess over Texas? It's because Texas obsesses over trucks. When you have one market that loves your product that much, you give it the attention it deserves. 2016 Chevy Volt to make auto show debut this season
Wed, Jul 30 2014Ever since we saw that spy shots of the 2016 Chevy Volt, we've been hungering for more information on the next-gen version of GM's green halo car. It appears we might not have long to wait, at least for an official tease. An inside source that wishes to remain anonymous told AutoblogGreen that GM will make two announcements regarding the second-gen Volt at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, MI next week. The first, and most intriguing, is that that we will get our first glimpse of the new Volt at some point during the upcoming auto show season. That means either Los Angeles later this year or else Detroit, Chicago or New York in early 2015. The second bit of news is that GM will be moving production of the electric motors from Mexico to Michigan. Details and official confirmation are, of course, missing and Chevrolet declined comment to AutoblogGreen. We should know more next week.
GM might outsource vans to AM General
Thu, Nov 26 2015General Motors will possibly boost production of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon at the Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri by contracting out some commercial van manufacturing to AM General. Demand for the two midsize trucks continues to boom, and GM would like to take advantage of the strong market for them. The possible deal came to light in a letter to workers at the factory, according to Automotive News. "This potential partnership would free up production capacity and allow the organization to capitalize on our ability to build midsize trucks to further satisfy customer demand," a portion of the document allegedly said. AM General would reportedly only take over assembly of the cutaway versions of the Chevy Express and GMC Savana. Customers and critics have quickly embraced the latest Colorado and Canyon since their introduction. The Chevy just won back-to-back Motor Trend Truck of the Year awards. GM also had to add a third shift and extra workers in 2014 just to keep up with demand. The Wentzville plant even increased employment on the weekends earlier in 2015 to assemble an extra 2,000 of the trucks each month. While the two pickups boom, deliveries for the Chevy Express and GMC Savana are down 26.9 percent and 26.6 percent respectively through the first 10 months of the year. GM doesn't break out numbers for the cutaway versions, but they make up about a third of production, according to Automotive News. AM General built the Humvee for the US military and does some contract work with automakers. For example, the company's Indiana factory now produces the Mercedes-Benz R-Class for export to China. Here's hoping this potential deal will help both GM and AM General keep their factories humming. Related Video:
