Solid build, everything works as it should

This little 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible is a real find ! I was out driving this BEAUTY recently to take the pictures and I felt like I was driving a time machine and had gone back to 1963 !!  This car was purchased a few years ago and everything that needed attention was fixed or repaired, (including a brand new tranny) Just look at this thing! This Corvair is ready to drive anywhere~  Thousands of dollars and many, many, many hours were spent on the restoration / build, care, upkeep and indoor storage. Cars like this were quite a novelty in their day to say the least but now, in this kind of shape ? What a find! Any Corvair enthusiast would be pleased to own this BEAUTY.

This Corvair Monza has what appears to be the ORIGINAL - STRONG - REBUILT - 2.4 Liter Air Cooled 6 cylinder motor in it that is running VERY WELL indeed. The motor retains the ORIGINAL air cleaner housing, ORIGINAL intake manifolds, ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds and the ORIGINAL Dual Rochester 1 barrel carbs. The motor is backed by a - SMOOTH - REBUILT - Transmission.  Sounds good with the factory exhaust system. The color black on this BEAUTY is EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL with really little to no wear showing other than a few very small chips and imperfections and is still bright, shiny and looks STUNNING to say the least as you can clearly see in pictures. The Black vinyl convertible top and matching Black vinyl convertible top boot are all nearly NEW and in NICE condition.

The CLEAN - SOLID - "front trunk" area is great for storage. It is a really COOL little vehicle. All of the ORIGINAL light lenses and reflectors are clear, bright and BEAUTIFUL !! Check out the FACTORY ORIGINAL Monza stainless steel wheel covers and NEWER whitewall steel belted radials, boy does this combination look outstanding on this BEAUTY and really retains that clean "FACTORY ORIGINAL" look !! All of the ORIGINAL exterior chrome and stainlees steel body trim and moldings are in VERY NICE condition including VERY NICE ORIGINAL Chrome front and rear bumpers, NICE ORIGINAL Monza badging and good ORIGINAL aluminum headlight surrounds

The owner of this and all of the other cars was a collector, these fine cars were always stored inside of a climate controlled building.  They were on display and parade cars and were only driven on special occasions.  Any and all repairs and upgrades were done via a local professional classic car repair and restoration company.  No do-it-yourself work was done on any of these cars.

This car is currently sitting along side of her five sister collectable cars in a climate controlled building in Port Jefferson on Long Island NY.  This Black Beauty is current on its inspection and has plates on it.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions and to make an appointment to see this gem car.

Other cars are being offered by appointment only.

GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.

Next-gen Chevy Volt gets Corvette looks, adjustable regen levels

Sat, Dec 20 2014

The hood may say "full speed ahead." The regenerative braking system says "slow down a bit." One person's automotive improvements is another's identity crisis, all in a day's work analyzing the new Chevrolet Volt. The next-generation version of General Motors' first extended-range plug in will include design touches taken from to the new Chevrolet Corvette, GM's iconic sports car. Hexagonal taillights and a "taut" hood will be part of the new package, Automotive News says, citing General Motors design chief Ed Wilbur. But does that mean the Volt is shedding any of its green-car cred? Not at all, if one considers that the Volt will also let the driver adjust the degree of regenerative braking using steering-wheel paddles to dial up and recapture as much energy as possible and engage in "one-pedal" driving or turn it down for easier coasting. Check out the 55-second video below featuring GM executives Mark Reuss and Andrew Farah trying out the Volt's new regenerative-braking system that was first used on the Cadillac ELR. GM will have more details for us when it unveils the 2016 Chevy Volt at the North American Auto Show in Detroit next month. The new version is said to have a larger battery, a longer all-electric driving range and more power, but Chevy's been fairly mum on those sorts of performance details so far. Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
