1968 Convertible Corvair on 2040-cars

Year:1968 Mileage:76200

This is a fun car to drive!     Put your surfboard in the back and head to the coast today.

I want to try and describe the vehicle condition so you know what you are bidding on after you have read this. Look at the photos. Please send questions for more info.

I bought this car from a guy that's father had it in storage for 15 years. I fixed the brakes, polished the paint, rebuilt the front end by replacing the bushings and ball joints. Fixed the oil leaks and replaced the oil cooler.

It has electronic ignition and an electric fuel pump. It seems that Californias modern fuel tends to eat the diaphrams of the manual pumps.

The four single barrel carbs could use a rebuild, but they all function.

The two speed powerglide shifts well, all gears functioning.

As stated, there is rust showing in the lower door jam (see photos), but not too bad. The doors work well, no sag, close easy and don't rattle.

No other rust that I found.

There is cracking in the front fenders paint near the windshield posts (see photos).

This is not the original paint, but have no details to go with it. A couple of dings, but overall cleans up well.

The upholstry needs to be done as the driver seat is torn (covered with a beach towel) and the back seat has damage (see photo). Or do what I did, and drive it! The carpet is OK, and there is a carpet kit in the trunk.

The dash is in excellent shape, gauges work including the working AM radio. There is an aftermarket radio installed underdash with a power amp mounted in the trunk.

Chrome is old, light lenses too. No broken glass, although the driver door glass is not installed.

14" rims and tires. See the photo, BF Goodrich with good tread left. Handles well.

The top is fresh and in great condition, but not power. It was up when I bought it, so I folded it with care and put it down. It has not been up since.

This is a garaged car and has been used little. Sunny weekend trips only.

If you want a 46 year old low production convertible to drive today, bid on this one.

What a great father / son project for a small budget. Not much to finish this right, paint and upholstry!

It really stops people to look and recall the one "my father had" or "my uncle had", always with a smile!

No smog, drives straight, steers well, stops solid (good pedal).

This is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, no returns.

Bid with confidence, but please only bid on the car if you intend to buy it.  The car is for sale and will sell to the highest bidder past the low reserve.

You can pick it up after full payment, 1,000.00 made via paypal within 48 hours of winning the bid and the remainder in CASH only when you get here. No cash, no sale, no refund. If you are sending a carrier to haul the car, you can pay in full via paypal before they get here.

I have the pink slip in hand, and the tags are current.

Bid knowing that you are buying a piece of Chevrolet history!

Good luck, and thanks for bidding.

2015 Chevy Colorado takes Motor Trend Truck of the Year calipers [w/videos]

Wed, Dec 3 2014

The final winner of Motor Trend's prestigious Golden Calipers has been named, with the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado taking the title of 2015 Truck of the Year, likely shocking those who thought Ford's all-aluminum, next-generation F-150 would take the crown. But win the Colorado did, beating not only the new Ford, but two other brutish Blue Ovals in the F-450 and Transit. The midsize pickup also bested its brethren from General Motors, beating the heavy-duty Chevy Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra Denali 2500 and the GMC Canyon, the Colorado's fraternal twin. After an unprecedented two-year stint with the Golden Calipers, Ram sat this year's awards out. Most impressive about the Colorado's victory isn't that it simply beat the US market's other trucks, it did so with a unanimous vote. Praise from MT's editors focused on the trucklet's price, spacious interior, fit and finish and performance. Former Autoblog staffer Jonny Lieberman called the Colorado's steering the best he'd "ever experienced on any truck, full stop," in MT's awards article. "After days of testing, hundreds of miles on the road, and our most rigorous truck testing program to date, our editors unanimously selected the Chevy Colorado as our 2015 Truck of the Year," said MT boss Edward Loh. "Colorado is a smart, capable, and refreshingly honest truck that makes a strong value and efficiency statement. It's perfectly sized and suited for the needs of many of today's truck users." The Colorado joins the 2015 Volkswagen Golf and 2015 Honda CR-V among Motor Trend 2015 award winners. Scroll down for video commentary from General Motors CEO Mary Barra, Loh and a clip of the Golden Calipers being handed over. Also, check out GM's full press release on its big win. Super Bowl LVII car commercial roundup: Watch them all here

Mon, Feb 13 2023

Fewer automakers than usual spent money advertising during Super Bowl LVII. In total, there were only five traditional ad spots from three big OEMs. A number of car-adjacent ads aired during the Big Game, too, and we’ll bring you those ads in this roundup alongside the more obvious ones. WeÂ’ve compiled all of the automotive-related commercials for you here in this post so you donÂ’t have to go searching for them elsewhere. Read on below to see what aired as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. Ram's Super Bowl spot offers a cure for 'Premature Electrification' This commercial revealed the new electric Ram Rev pickup, and itÂ’s themed like a prescription ad for an antidote to "Premature Electrification.” A concerned narrator in the Ram spot asks if you're afraid that going electric too soon will mean "you might not be able to last as long as you like," and there's a guy on a pier who's going to need some new equipment if he wants to catch fish. We're also told there are "options being designed to extend range in satisfying ways," so if this truck isn't right for you, you have choices. All the commercial's missing is a silly medical marketing name and six seconds of speed-reading gibberish about side effects like intestinal bleeding and death. Which are two more good things. Jeep 4xe Super Bowl commercial highlights modern version of 'Electric Boogie' JeepÂ’s “Electric Boogie” commercial follows the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe in a variety of simulated off-road situations. Though fun, the soundtrack is the real star of the show. The songÂ’s original artist, Marcia Griffiths, was joined by Grammy winner Shaggy, Jamila Falak, Amber Lee, and Moyann on the track. The modernized re-recording celebrates 40 years since GriffithsÂ’ original track, and Jeep says the track is available for streaming now. Kia returns to the Super Bowl with the tale of 'Binky Dad' This year, Kia follows the adventure of "Binky Dad" in his quest to fetch his daughter's lost pacifier, which naturally takes him over just about every bit of terrain you might encounter upon leaving the civilized confines of Southern California for the not-so-civilized mountains of ... probably also California. It features the refreshed 2023 Kia Telluride, which probably doesnÂ’t need much advertising to see these days, but Kia went for it with the strong three-row SUV anyway.

Corvette Z06 and Viper TA square off at the strip

Wed, Jan 21 2015

There are many long-standing grudge matches among automobiles: 911 vs GT-R, Mustang vs Camaro, Ferrari vs Lamborghini... but as far as high-end American metal goes, it doesn't get much more legendary than Viper vs 'Vette. So after Chevy released the new Corvette Z06, we knew it was only a matter of time before it would have to square off against the Viper TA. And what better place to pit these two parallel pillars of American performance than on the drag strip? Fortunately that's just what we have here. In one corner, the 2014 Dodge Viper TA, with its 8.4-liter V10 pumping out 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. In the other, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the supercharger on its 6.2-liter V8 more than making up for the discrepancy in displacement and cylinder count to produce 650 hp and just as much torque. But numbers don't tell the whole story, so watch the video clip to see which reaches the end of the quarter-mile first.
