Nice driver quality 65 Corvair Corsa convertible. Runs and drives great. Please watch the two videos. One is a walk around and the other is the car driving. The car can be used everyday without doing anything except changing the tires. You will get lots of comments like "did you restore it" and "I had one but it didn't look that nice" (just a few I heard this week). The car looks great at first glance but closer examination will reveal flaws. If you just want a nice daily driver or weekend cruiser then this is perfect. If you want a show car then it will need some work making it perfect. I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere. I am pretty critical of cars and it may sound like I am really downplaying the car but I just to make sure you have a good understanding of what you are bidding on. Nothing worse that being disappointed with a big purchase. Whoever wins this car is getting a very solid car that they can start using and enjoying right away.

Pros-
New top a few years ago, still very nice.
Rear window clear and scratch free.
Doors open and close nice, no sagging.
Just replaced seal between the top and the windshield.
Solid body and chassis.
Solid floors.
Runs great.
Nice interior.
No leaks, garage floor nice and clean still.
All lights and signals work (including warning lights).
Clear title.
Original owners manual.
Starts easily on the first try.
Shifts good.

Cons-
Poor quality paint job. Bodywork appears that it was not done professionally. Car looks good as a driver quality but to be show worthy it would need attention.
Tires are old and should be replaced
Brakes pull to the left when pressed hard (possibly a sticky caliper)
Smokes a little under very hard acceleration ( car sat for a while and I have only driven it about 200 miles so I think just using it more will help)
Dash needs paint in places.
Original AM radio not working (does come with another radio that was working when I bought the car but I thought it was ugly so I took it out)
Originally would have been a 140hp engine, now a 110hp dual carb single exhaust
Tachometer, temp gauge and clock not working.
Steering shutters a bit at high speed (65mph and more), likely due to old tires.
Steering is not as tight as it should be. Likely just old bushings

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I can take more pictures of anything that you need to see better. I know it can be hard bidding on a car without seeing it in person which is why I included the videos. I encourage you to view the car in person. If needed I can deliver the car to a local mechanic of your choosing for closer inspection. You would be responsible for all costs. $500 non-refundable deposit required within 48 hours of auctions end. I am only human and I can not possibly list every single detail about the car but if you find that the car has been grossly misrepresented your deposit will be refunded and the sale will be canceled. It is a good honest car and I know the buyer is going to happy with their purchase. I can store the car in my heated garage for a few weeks if needed as long as 50% payment is received.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
