1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Convertible

Corvair keeps the zest in driving. The Corvair package of elegance, thrift and fun on the road has always been hard to beat. And for the '65, its more so. Corvair's good looks and clean design show all the way around. A clean, bright metal double bar sweeps between the dual horizontal headlights.

The 1965 Corvair is equipped with a horizontally opposed six-cylinder air-cooled aluminum block. This version displaces 2,655 cubic centimeters with a 3.43-inch cylinder bore and 2.94-inch stroke. It featured two single-barrel carburetors and an 8.25:1 compression ratio. This version generated 95 horsepower and 154 foot-pounds of torque, and a four-speed manual transmission

This 1965 Corvair features bucket seats, Original 8-track player, deep-pile carpeting and a cockpit-like instrument cluster on the dash. Even the cigarette lighter is still intact in the unit. GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee

General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.

As has become tradition, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has come up with a ranking of what it refers to as the "greenest" cars of 2015, and, by way of contrast, a list of the so-called "meanest" cars, so those who value eco-friendliness over all else can choose which vehicles they should or should not consider buying. As you may expect, electric cars make up the majority of the greenest cars on the list, but, perhaps surprisingly to many, the Tesla Model S didn't make the cut. It's worth noting, too, that where the electricity an owner uses to charge their electric vehicle has a big impact on its overall environmental impact. "A car that is charged using electricity generated from natural gas or renewables is going to have significantly less impact on the environment than one charged on a coal-heavy grid," says ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan. The ACEEE's list for 2015 looks very different than it did in 2014. It's an interesting collection, though – and we're sure this goes without saying, really Â– we'd recommend doing a bit more research into each vehicle and how it might fit into your daily life before making any purchase decisions.
