Supercharged Custom Chevrolet 1500 Pickup on 2040-cars
El Paso, Texas, United States
This is a classic custom "Muscle Truck" that I custom ordered brand new in '96 with all the right options such as heavy duty cooling and engine and trans oil coolers, 3.42:1 posi differential, A/C,PL,PS,PB,tilt wheel, cruise, int. wipers, rear sliding window. It has a Vortec Supercharged 5.0 V8. It's in excellent condition and the mileage is all original and super low. It has been dropped professionally with all Bell Tech components consisting of the 2" drop springs and 2" drop spindles in front with a 6" drop and reinforced C-section in back for that classic muscle truck look and runs all Bell Tech Nitro Drop shocks. It has a hard fiberglass tonneau cover from Traders covering the bed and there is a thick rubber bed mat for protection and to make sure cargo doesn't slide around. The wheels are super rare ORIGINAL Boyd's Lotus design, I was told that these were the first set sold..can't prove that but I know they took 3 months to get them to me. These wheels are very light which is great for handling. The tires are Goodrich T/A's with 245/60-15 in front and 275/60-15 in back. I also added a rear sway bar which makes it handle more like a Firebird than a pickup. It comes with 3 pulleys and belts for the blower to vary the boost but I would recommend adding another injector and a power programming for the high boost pulley. The exhaust is an Edelbrock cat back system terminating in hidden 96 Corvette tips. I wanted a unique hood scoop different from the usual cowl induction stuff you always see in use so I incorporated a genuine Enderle funny car bug catcher into the hood and designed a throttle cable system to work with the throttle pedal action. The cable and hardware are all available and are the same parts used on funny cars so you know they are good high quality materials. The blower whine and the way the truck looks really causes heads to turn on the street! The trans has a TransGo Trans Pak in it for snappy shifts, second gear gets real nice chirps out of those T/A's. There's a pillar mounted Autometer Boost gauge to keep up on the output from the Vortec. It has a Speed Grill in anodized aluminum and a custom front bumper with KC driving lights built in with stone covers that swivel up into the bumper for a clean look. It has a Sony stereo system with a 10 disk changer behind the seat...I couldn't get it to work the other day, it's had little use, might need cleaning but the head unit is fine. The truck has new custom paint with a great silver on top that has a ton of fine metal flake in it and the bottom is a medium blue that will turn from blue to dark blue and purple as the light changes. The blue has deep fine metal flake and then a very light fine flake in the top layers which look like stars above the base flake. Then the colors are separated with a custom painted pinstripe in lime green which really sets it off. The truck took best in class first time out. I recently had the silver redone (got scratched) and more clear over both colors and it looks fantastic, even better than it did in last years show! This is a 100% non smoker truck. It's probably very safe to say this is a one off and you won't find another like it anywhere. This is a NICE super low mile one owner custom truck! If you are looking for something that will stand out and be exclusive then this is it! Winning buyer will need to send a $1,000.00 non refundable deposit within 24 hrs via PayPal, the balance can be handled via cash, bank wire transfer or a Major bank Cashiers Check which must clear before the truck is released to any shipper or individual...no exceptions. All bidders must have a clean Ebay history and those with little or no history will must prove ability to fund their purchase or they will be removed from bidding. Of course non payers will be reported so please don't waste my time or yours if you don't intend to buy. There is no warranty of any kind expressed or implied on this vehicle and it's being sold as is and where is and no returns accepted. I can help you find a shipper if needed. |

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry
Wed, Dec 1 2021The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer. The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
Before Chevrolet's Redline, there was the Saturn Red Line
Thu, Feb 9 2017While Chevy rolls out Redline special editions across more of the lineup at this year's Chicago Auto Show, we've been eating some 'member berries and started thinking about the last time GM used the term. Back in 2004, Saturn rolled out Red Line (two words) editions of the Ion and Vue. The lineup was joined by the Sky Red Line in 2007, and the second-generation Vue kept the tradition going in 2008. This was in the heady days of the mid-2000s, before the financial crisis and GM's bankruptcy reorganization that saw the end of Saturn. The press release headline for the 2008 Sky is now cringe-worthy: "Hot-selling Sky helps drive Saturn product renaissance." Performance lineups were the hot new thing, as automakers attempted to cash in on the tuner trend popularized by The Fast and the Furious. Chevy had SS models, Pontiac had GXP, and Saturn had Red Line. Across the Detroit Metro area, Dodge had a slew of SRT models, and Ford's Special Vehicle Team brought us the SVT Lightning pickup, the SVT Focus, and a smattering of hopped-up Mustangs. The performance cred of Red Line models varied from car to car. The Ion Red Line shared the same engine as the original Chevy Cobalt SS, a 205-horsepower supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 65 hp more than stock. Car and Driver tested one with a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.1 seconds and said the Ion "tears down the wall that has separated enthusiasts from the Saturn brand for so long." The Vue Red Line, meanwhile, came with the same optional Honda-sourced 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the regular Vue, and added a stiffer, lower suspension, bigger wheels with more aggressive rubber, and recalibrated steering assist. When the Vue was redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Vue Red Line was a similar proposition. The engine was now from GM, and up 7 horsepower to 257, but you could get it in both Red Line and XE trim. Aside from the tire and suspension upgrades, Red Line models now came with a unique front fascia and rear exhaust cutouts. The most exciting Red Line, of course, was the high-performance version of the Sky roadster, which shared underpinnings with its Pontiac Solstice twin. This model came with GM's hot 2.0-liter Ecotec Turbo, good for 260 horsepower. The extra power was crucial in covering up the Sky's unfortunate manual gearbox ratios, which left the non-turbo model aching for torque in lower gears. As we all know, Saturn was taken by the grim reaper in 2009 after an attempt to sell the brand to the Penske Group.
Buick Encore, Chevy Trax earn Top Safety Pick from IIHS [w/video]
Thu, Feb 12 2015The Buick Encore has been a massive sales success practically from the moment it debuted, and Buick recently decided to increase production to keep up with demand for the premium compact crossover. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently put one to the test again, and the Encore earned a Top Safety Pick award. It's the first model from the brand to score the nod since 2013, according to the IIHS, and the rating also carries over to the 2015 Chevrolet Trax. The 2015 Encore scored a Good rating in all of the IIHS' evaluations, including the 40-mile-per-hour, small overlap front crash test. That was a big improvement over the previous model the institute tested, which scored a Poor result in the overlap test. In the first test, about 13 inches of the lower door hinge pillar came into the passenger compartment, and the steering wheel airbag moved too far to protect the dummy's head. Improvements for the latest model year showed six inches of intrusion this time, and the airbags caught the dummy's head well. The dummy's sensors also indicated a low risk of injury. The two CUVs missed out on the full Top Safety Pick+ because the IIHS scored the Encore as only having a basic front crash prevention system, and there was no such equipment for the Trax. To earn the highest mark, models need at least an advanced rating by the institute for this technology. Buick Encore, Chevrolet Trax earn 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK award ARLINGTON, Va. - A small SUV is the first vehicle from the Buick brand to qualify for a TOP SAFETY PICK award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety since 2013. The Buick Encore's newly introduced, lower-priced twin, the Chevrolet Trax, also qualifies for the honor. The Encore's award follows improvements to the SUV's structure for better small overlap front protection. The 2015 model earns a good rating in the small overlap test. In contrast, the 2013-14 Encore rated poor in the test. The driver's space was seriously compromised with intrusion measuring as much as 13 inches at the lower door hinge pillar. The dummy's head barely contacted the front airbag before sliding off the left side, as the steering column moved to the right. The side curtain airbag deployed too late and didn't have sufficient forward coverage to protect the head. In the latest test, the driver space was maintained reasonably well, with maximum intrusion of 6 inches at the door hinge pillar and instrument panel. The dummy's movement was well-controlled.
