Beautiful 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne Custom Camper Special on 2040-cars
Lemont, Illinois, United States
I am selling this for a friend. His name is Wayne, and his number is (708) 557-2300. Please do not email me with any questions. Give Wayne a call. This 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super Custom Camper Special is a true survivor, oiriginally from Idaho. It is truly a top-quality, highly original driver that has been very well taken care of, and is up to any task. The certified actual mileage is just 87,800. Vehicle is driven during the week, so a few mils will be added. Certification of mileage will be provided upon sale. Look at the list of items this truck came with from the factory: *402 Big Block, Original motor, all original specs. *Power Disc Brakes, rotors and pads show very little wear *Power Steering *Factory Air Conditioning, recently serviced, very cold *Automatic Trans. Turbo 400 *Factory Dual Exhaust *Chrome and Stainless Trim options *Factory tilt steering wheel, a very rare option In addition, the following has recently been completed: *New Tires, Hoses, Belts, etc *Beautiful, aftermarket 16" wheels. Tailpipes replaced with original equipment equivalent. Complete tune-up, plus new filters. You do not need to do anything to this truck but drive it, and keep it clean. This is a Fantastic Cruze 'N Use Classic. You can show it very well in local shows, and be very proud as the owner. This truck was re-painted at some point in the original factory color scheme, Lemon-Lime with white. It was a high-quality paint job, and the color really pops, much better than the pics show. It is showing just a few very small spots of buff-through on a couple of the sharp edges. The pictures taken could not make it show up, but if you are very close to the truck, and looking for it, you can see it. This is not something anyone would see unless they are really examining the paint. With the exception of the seats, the interior is in fully original condition. Door panels, headliner, dash, steering wheel are all original. The seats have been recovered in a top-quality material similar, though not identical, to the original factory seats. Cushions/bolsters were replaced at that time, so the seats have provide a lot of support, very comfortable. There is no rust perforation anywhere on this vehicle. All lights and gauges function as they should. THIS TRUCK DRIVES LIKE A DREAM! Straight down the road with no shimmy or wandering, no vibration anywhere, at any speed. Stops quickly in a straight line, thanks to the rare Factory Power Disc Brakes. It handles very well, corners like a modern truck. With the factory 402 big block, you have plenty of torque to get you moving quickly. The engine does not overheat, or burn oil. The transmission shifts smoothly, with no unusual noises. The bed has no dents, and is covered in a nice Silver-Gray spray-on liner that is a couple years old, and in good shape. Look closely at the pics to see the perfect sheet metal throughout the body of this truck. The truck, and it's owner, Wayne, reside in Illinois. He has owned it over a year, and, and has driven it regularly during that time. He is a knowledgeable and detail-oriented auto enthusiast. He put much more time and money into it than he will ever get out. He is only selling it because his plans have changed, and he needs the money to complete other restorations. This truck was not bought with the idea of being a "flip". It was bought to fix up as a fine classic vehicle, which it now is. Wayne can be reached at (708) 557-2300. Be sure to have a list of questions ready, as he will answer anything you ask about the truck. Please do not call after 9:00 p.m., Central Time. The winning bidder is required to pay $500, via paypal, or overnight certified funds, within 72 hours of close of auction. The balance must be paid within 7 days, via Certified funds, which are subject to "hold" until fully cleared, or via wire transfer. Frustrated GM investors ask what more Mary Barra can do
Mon, Oct 22 2018DETROIT — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra has transformed the No. 1 U.S. automaker in her almost five years in charge, but that is still not enough to satisfy investors. Ahead of third-quarter results due on Oct. 31, GM shares are trading about 6 percent below the $33 per share price at which they launched in 2010 in a post-bankruptcy initial public offering. The Detroit carmaker's stock is down 22 percent since Barra took over in January 2014. After hitting an all-time high of $46.48 on Oct. 24, 2017, the shares have declined 33 percent. In the same period, the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 7.8 percent. Several shareholders contacted by Reuters said GM could face a third major action by activist shareholders in less than four years if the share price does not improve. "I've been expecting it," said John Levin, chairman of Levin Capital Strategies. "It just seems a tempting morsel to somebody." Levin's firm owns more than seven million GM shares. Barra has guided the company through the settlement of a federal criminal probe of a mishandled safety recall, sold off money-losing European operations, and returned $25 billion to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks from 2012 through 2017. GM declined to comment for this story, but the company's executives privately express frustration with the market's reluctance to see it as anything more than a manufacturer tied mainly to auto market sales cycles. GM's profitable North American truck and SUV business and its money-making China operations are valued at just $14 billion, excluding the value of GM's stake in its $14.6 billion Cruise automated vehicle business and its cash reserves from its $44 billion market capitalization. The recent slump in the Chinese market, GM's largest, and plateauing U.S. demand are ratcheting up the pressure. GM is one of the few global automakers without a founding family or a government to serve as a bulwark against corporate raiders. In 2015, a group led by investor Harry Wilson pressed GM to launch a $5 billion share buyback, and commit to what is now an $18 billion ceiling on the level of cash the company would hold. In 2017, GM fended off a call by hedge fund manager David Einhorn to split its common stock shares into two classes. Einhorn, whose firm still owned more than 21 million shares at the end of June, declined to comment about GM's stock price. Other investors said there were no clear alternatives to Barra's approach.
Zombie cars: 9 discontinued vehicles that aren't dead yet
Thu, Jan 6 2022Car models come and go, but as revealed by monthly sales data, once a car is discontinued, it doesn't just disappear instantly. And in the case of some models, vanishing into obscurity can be a slow, tedious process. That's the case with the 12 cars we have here. All of them have been discontinued, but car companies keep racking up "new" sales with them. There are actually more discontinued cars that are still registering new sales than what we decided to include here. We kept this list to the oldest or otherwise most interesting vehicles still being sold as new, including a supercar. We'll run the list in alphabetical order, starting with *drumroll* ... BMW 6 Series: 55 total sales BMW quietly removed the 6 Series from the U.S. market during the 2019 model year. It had been available in three configurations, a hardtop coupe, a convertible and a sleek four-door coupe-like shape. Â BMW i8: 18 total sales We've always had a soft spot for the BMW i8, despite the fact that it never quite fit into a particular category. It was sporty, but nowhere near as fast as similarly-priced competitors. It looked very high-tech and boasted a unique carbon fiber chassis design and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but wasn't really designed for maximum efficiency or maximum performance. Still, the in-betweener was very cool to look at and drive, and 18 buyers took one home over the course of 2021. Â Chevy Impala: 750 total sales The Impala represented classic American tastes at a time when American tastes were shifting away from soft-riding sedans with big interior room and trunk space and into higher-riding crossovers. A total of 750 sales were inked last year. Â Chrysler 200: 15 total sales The Chrysler 200 was actually a pretty nice sedan, with good looks and decent driving dynamics let down by a lack of roominess, particularly in the back seat. Of course, as we said regarding the Chevy Impala, the number of Americans in the market for sedans is rapidly winding down, and other automakers are following Chrysler's footsteps in canceling their slow-selling four-doors. Even if Chrysler never really found its footing in the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment, apparently dealerships have a few leftover 2017 200s floating around. And for some reason, 15 buyers decided to sign the dotted line to take one of these aging sedans home last year.
GM diesel pickups first to undergo extra EPA, CARB testing
Tue, Sep 29 2015The effects of Volkswagen's long-running diesel emissions evasion are starting to spill over to other automakers, but General Motors is taking things in stride. The 2.8-liter, four-cylinder Duramax in the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon is the first engine to get extra scrutiny by the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, Automotive News reports. Rather than just the usual in-lab test, it's also being checked on the road. However, the extra evaluation shouldn't have any impact on when the trucks with his mill hit dealers later this fall. "We're in our final stages of the EPA certification, and our launch is on track," Chevy spokesperson Otie McKinley tells Autoblog. The four-cylinder diesel in the trucks makes 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the automaker is touting low NOx production. In the announcement for the Colorado's specs, the company calls it "the cleanest diesel truck engine ever produced by General Motors." The tech includes exhaust gas recirculation to lower combustion temperatures and improve emissions. There's also a urea tank like on the bigger diesels for full-size trucks, and it gets refilled in time with oil changes. An indication on the instrument panel lets drivers know when that's needed, too. Even with the more demanding testing, the company doesn't seem too worried about the four-cylinder passing. "Part of our development process is on-road and off-road [laboratory] testing," Scott Yackley, Chevy Trucks assistant chief engineer, said to Automotive News. In the wake of the VW scandal, the EPA has pledged more rigorous testing. Before, on-road emissions evaluations were largely limited to heavy-duty vehicles, but the agency has decided to apply the checks more often to other models. There's also now greater cooperation with Canadian authorities.
