Very Rare! 1969 Super Sport 396 4 Speed Chevelle Convertible! A Very Solid Car Which Still Retains Its Factory Paint & Super Sport Stripes! Backed By A CE Warranty Replacement Motor And Its Original Numbers Matching Four Speed! Original Tach Car! I Can Assure You That You WILL NOT Find Another One Like It!

The moment I sat eyes on this Chevelle, my heart started racing. My more rational and practical side kept trying to over ride my emotions but the more I dove in to this Chevelle, the more I got excited about it. I think any car guys can relate to what I am talking about. We hunt and we hunt to find cars like these and most of the time, it seems like we are just chasing ghosts. Fortunately, this is not one of those scenarios.

This Chevelle has belonged to to a fanatical Chevelle collector for quite some time. Someone who never sells and has kept his metal secrets locked away from the World for decades. Years ago, this Chevelle was driven across Missouri and parked where it has been sitting for quite some time. This Chevelle has not had many hands on it over the years. It still retains its original factory paint with its original factory Super Sport stripes! The entire infrastructure, the bones of this car are unmolested. It still retains all of its original sheet metal (with the exception of the core support and new fenders) most of which is completely solid. Every original bracket is still in tact and untouched. The original floors and trunk to the Chevelle are completely solid and original. This Chevelle still has its original convertible top which has no tears in it! The interior is 100% original and is in excellent shape. The front bucket seats do not have a stain nor tear in them. The tach and instrument panel is completely original and has never been tampered with. There is just so much to break down on this car so I will do my best to give you a detailed description of what this Chevelle entails. If this is your dream car, you're going to thoroughly enjoy this read.

Body: The body on this Chevelle is completely original. We have installed new fenders along with a core support that has been powder coated. We also installed new core support bushings. Starting with the floors, they are completely original and totally solid. There are no pin size holes nor weak spots through out any of the front nor rear floors. The trunk pan is exactly the same. It too has no pin size holes nor weak spots. It is also completely solid. The frame on the Chevelle is also completely solid as are the doors, cowl, cowl corners, firewall, rear sill, deck lid, hood, inner wheel housing, A pillars, and windshield support. What does need replaced are the quarters and outer wheel housing. Which I do have one new quarter as well as one outer wheel housing which I am including with the Chevelle. One thing I would like to mention is how nice the doors open and shut as well as how well the windows roll up and down which you will be able to see within the video located below. As you can see within the photos located below, the Chevelle still retains its original factory paint and SS stripes. The convertible top on this Chevelle is missing its back window but the remaining top is completely sound. It does need cleaned but it does not have any tears or dry spots wearing through. The Chevelle also still retains its original factory disc brakes, big block suspension, and the big block specific steering column. Along the rear tail panel, you will find the factory punch holes for the original SS 396 emblem which unfortunately did not come with the Chevelle.

Interior: The interior of this Chevelle extremely nice. It is like looking at something that has been captured inside of a time capsule. The front bucket seats are exceptionally nice with no rips, tears, nor any other major blemishes. The back seat is also extremely nice but has one small crack in it. The rear door panels and center console are also very nice. The front door panels are decent but they do have a couple of small blemishes. The instrument panel and dash are exceptionally nice. It will need a new dash pad but the rest of the dash is just unbelievably nice. The gauges still look like new. The needles are all in tact and do not look faded nor aged.

Mechanical: The 396 within this Chevelle is a "CE" block which is a warranty replacement setup. It does turn over and is not locked up. From what I was told, the Chevelle did run and drive to where it was parked, years ago. The Muncie four speed is the original numbers matching transmission. The production sequence is stamped in to it and does match the VIN. It does seem functional as it does move in and out of gears. The Chevelle does have a power top and it was functional at the time it was parked. It too does not appear to have ever been tampered with.

Located below, you will find over 150 photos as well as video of the Chevelle. My goal is to get the Chevelle sold. So if you're interested, please call or email and I will gladly answer any questions or concerns. Please understand that this auction can and probably will come down before the auction ends as I do have it for sale locally. So please, do not be surprised if I have taken it down the next time you refer back to the auction. I know that many people do not approve of that process but I am here to get the Chevelle sold. So with that, I have no problems with sharing my reserve with serious buyers. I do have a clean Missouri title for this Chevelle. Have an excellent day!

Thanks,

Shawn

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers

Fri, Oct 31 2014

If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Chevy's low-cost pedestrian avoidance to debut on 2016 Malibu

Tue, Jul 28 2015

The mainstreaming of safety technologies that began on luxury vehicles will get a big boost from General Motors later this year. The General says it plans to offer 22 driver assistance systems across its product portfolio of 2016 models, starting with the redesigned Chevrolet Malibu - the one that we know will keep tabs on teenagers for the benefit of parents. Pedestrian avoidance will be another of its available options. Instead of kitting the sedan out with numerous and expensive radar arrays, the GM system uses the camera mounted next to the rearview mirror that is already used for the lane-keeping function. New software lets it detect pedestrians, and when it detects a potential collision with one, it can alert the driver and brake autonomously if the driver doesn't react. Eventually, engineers want to give it the ability to do the same with cyclists. Because it uses existing hardware updated with new code, GM says the application costs "a few hundred dollars." GM demonstrated the Front Pedestrian Braking preventing a crash with a dummy pedestrian at speeds up to 15 miles per hour. Automotive News reports that it will reduce the severity of impact up to 40 miles per hour, but "may not be of much use in collisions at higher speeds." That feature will also join the options list of the Cadillac CT6. The press release below has more on GM's driver tech soon on the way. Related Video: GM Paving Way to Smarter and Safer Driving at All-New Active Safety Test Area 22 crash-avoidance technologies offered on 2016 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac models MILFORD, Mich. 2015-07-24 – Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac will offer 22 different active safety technologies across their 2016 model year U.S. lineups, ranging from driver alerts to those that automatically intervene and assist the driver in critical situations. Safety engineers will develop and test these and other safety technologies for products around the world at GM's new, 52-acre Active Safety Test Area at its Milford Proving Ground near Detroit. The $14 million facility officially opened Friday. "Our comprehensive safety strategy of helping customers before, during and after a crash continues," said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Vehicle Safety.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
