1970 Chevelle Malibu convertible [all original motor, 4-speed transmission and rear end] 350 Chevy engine in car and pictured with less than 500 miles. I have the original 307 motor which was rebuilt and comes with the car [still wrapped in plastic and loaded on a crate]. Power Steering, Power brakes [I changed from power drum to 4-wheel power disc brakes for better stopping power. I have owned this car for the past 12 years. During that time the car received new hood, trunk lid, many areas of new sheet metal, and a very nice repaint just completed in September 2013. All receipts for all work. Engine bay: Engine and transmission removed [new engine mounts installed], rear main seal along with oil pan and front intake were replaced. Newer Holly Street Avenger 4-barrell electric choke carburetor Replaced with either GM or GoodMark both front fenders, radiator support, front bumper and grill. Firewall was repaired, new heater core and blower motor as well as wiper motor. All new wiring has been installed and lighting [headlights, taillights, park lights]. Chevelle has the older clay bondo from repairs years ago before I purchased. I had the car stripped in June/July of 2013 to bare metal, then full repaint [base coat/clear coat] and hand rubbed. Exterior: New Good Mark hood, springs, hinges Trunk: All floor surfaced treated in October with POR 15, than splatter coated. New high quality spare with very nice rim [see pictures]. Interior: Original rare split front bench seats with headrests On Nov-04-13 at 04:39:46 PST, seller added the following information: New Goodmark Hood. New Goodmark Trunk Lid. New Inner front fenders [2] Have complete receipts for all work since I have owned the car. I did not see any rust on body when the car was stripped down in July of this year for the repaint. On Nov-04-13 at 13:50:15 PST, seller added the following information: "Newer"-either in the last 6 month to the last few years. Since the car is driven only a 100-150 miles each year the shocks, radiator, etc which all were replaced are newer, not new unless noted [like the tires and rims, paint, rubber in top, doors, felts around windows, new chrome and rubber for rear windows. New GM rubber floor mats [forgot to mention], new carpet [in the last year]. Hurst 4-speed shifter. Standard suspension [with upgraded gas-assisted shocks [4]. Did replace front coils, all newer bearings, upper and lower arms. Bondo was replaced with full metal when-ever possible. Make offer and we can discuss further. On Nov-04-13 at 16:58:00 PST, seller added the following information: Tilt-steering column. Spare if full size and brand new. |

Best and Worst GM Cars
Thu, Apr 7 2022Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded. While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.
Car Club USA: Louisiana Mudfest
Tue, Jun 16 2015There's nothing quite like mudding. Big tires, huge power, and crazy-wild gearheads that like to throw down on a mud pit almost as much as a thirty rack of Coors. In the latest, and some might argue greatest yet episode of Car Club USA, we head to Louisiana to throw some dirt at Mudfest. As Louisiana's one and only Mouth of the South puts it, "If you don't mud ride... go to Texas I guess." Joining The Mouth and friendly rivals The Most Hated Mud Sluts, we dive in. Beyond the obvious V8 blasting and tractor-tire spinning, those who know best describe Mudfest as, "Good cooking, good friends, good fun, and a lot of partying." It's a motorsport spectacle unlike any you're likely to find up North or out West, though no less impressive to behold. Follow along with the fun, the impromptu drag racing, the trash talking, and the mechanical madness. And find out why, at Mudfest, "if we don't tear it up, we ain't done it right." Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures. From Main Street cruises to off-road trails, catch all the latest car club activity on Autoblog. Chevrolet Ford Jeep RAM Truck Off-Road Vehicles Car Club USA Videos autoblog black
Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
