for sale 1969 chevelle ss396. 427ci, 4speed, 410 rear lmtd slip 12 bolt differential, manual steering, power disc brakes. 427 motor came from a 1969 COPO station wagon that was very very rare.  1 repaint(paint getting a little old but presents well) interior is the original and holding up well with minimal wear. nice under the hood.  underside dry with a little rust in the rear inner wheel wells above tires...but not able to be seen unless on a lift.  no rust in doors, rockers, quarters, fenders, floor or trunk.  427 was rebuilt recently and now has roller rockers, balanced, new cam, etc and runs extremely well.  original wheels have been repainted once and has original center caps and beauty rings.  all trim, grille, badges and emblems, lenses etc are original. if you have any questions please call at 714-313-0459...not a big fan of email so please call or ask questions through ebay please.  if you like come see the car or send someone to look at it if you like...trying to represent the car accurately so you get no suprises as some cars i've seen friends buy are absolute crap sometimes from ebay.  do not have supporting ss396 original paperwork, but if you know your chevelles you may know that not all ss396's had Rally Guages***this car has no Rally Guages***, ss396's also have larger diameter fuel lines, etc...which this car has-again come see for yourself as the car has always been claimed as a ss396 and the components do seem to support it.  this was originally a cheapo ss396 with only the basics to go fast.  original color and blue blue exterior combo with side stripe delete...please ask questions as i am looking to do an honest and fair deal and would not like to be remembered as a cheat.  RESERVE PRICE IS JUST A LITTLE NORTH OF $15000....happy bidding and God Bless. Thanks for checking it out!  ***also the original motor is gone just to probably answer a few peoples questions.  who knows; the build sheet may been on top of the tank or in the car somewhere as the car has not been taken apart. drives very nicely and easily streetable.  people love this car and i'm sure you will too if you see it.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Opel CEO talks new EV, will likely be fresh face for Chevy, too

Wed, Jul 23 2014

The rumored demise of the Opel Ampera has been confirmed, but there's good news, too. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann has been busy Tweeting information about the brand's next plug-in vehicle, admitting that the Ampera is on the way out but that plug-in vehicles are here to stay. His Tweets, in full, read: After the eventual run-out of the current generation Ampera, we'll introduce a successor product in the electric vehicle segment. Our next electric vehicle will be part of our massive product offensive – with 27 new vehicles in the 2014-2018 time frame. We see eMobility as important part of the mobility of tomorrow and we will continue to drive down costs & deliver affordability. As we learned earlier this week, the Ampera will not be refreshed when the current Chevy Volt is updated, most likely because of slow sales. Opel sold just 332 Amperas in the first five months of 2014. For now, General Motors is still building Amperas in Michigan for export to Europe. So, what might this new EV mean for the General Motors plug-in fleet? Official spokespeople are being quiet, but we think it's safe to say the new EV Neumann is talking about is not simply a rebadged Chevy Spark EV. This is the first official word about an entirely new EV, and we expect it will come to both the Chevrolet and Opel brands.

1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
