First, and most importantly to the Chevelle purist, is the question..........IS THIS A REAL CHEVELLE SS and can you prove this?

The answer is, YES! I did not have a build sheet for this car, and we all know how poorly General Motors kept track of SS records in 1972 in the US, BUT...............not in Canada!!!!! At GM Canada, they have a Division called GM Vintage Services Div. And they have all of the records on all GM Canada built Chevelles. So, if you are fortunate enough to have had your SS built in Canada and have no build sheet, they will give you all of the info on the birth history of your Chevelle. This even includes the dealer it shipped to, which in my case was Bud Colt's Chevrolet in Lansing Michigan, they will also give you build date, all options that were ordered on the car, and standard items. They will also tell you how many cars with your option and standard packages that they built in that model year. To authenticate and prevent tampering on these reports, they use raised GM certification seals <like a notary of the public seal> and they place this over the VIN #, and options that affect the car, and the employee creating the report. They use 3 seals per sheet. In this case, the Z15 option is for the SS and cars built to this spec that year was 1,542 vehicles. These sheets of authenticity go with this Chevelle. This means everything to many of us that want a true, pure Chevelle SS. It is a fact that most SS Chevelles out there from 72 are clones and most without the original engine. This car has it everything that true Chevelle folks want! Clones without original motors going for $25k to $35k just blows mind but I guess beauty and value are in the eyes of the beholder. This car has, and will continue to appreciate in value for many many years!!!

This is a thoroughbred and NOT a clone! She is right now, as she came off the Assembly Plant Floor..........a true Chevelle Super Sport!

Now, almost every 40 year old car has a story to tell and this one is no exception. The car is in very good condition. It was purchased from a retired gentleman in Southern Michigan. After many phone calls to previous owners, the original engine was a barn find!!! The engine was real rough <picture in ad of as it was before re birth> and was sent to the best in the business, D&S Detroit Muscle for a complete re birth. She was stripped, baked, re machined, painted and completely rebuilt. She was brought up to 300 HP plus <look out big blocks> built up to 4 bbl and was put back where she belongs, in her first home as she came from the factory. She has less than 50 miles on her and runs like the day she came off the line, only better < there is a full warranty on the engine>. New MSD Ignition, Heddon coated headers, new pan etc. This car sounds AWESOME! Engine compartment was cleaned and painted as well. Over $8k was spent on this engine project and I have all receipts for all work performed.

New carpet, new dash face, all gauges professionally rebuilt, new pan, seals, gaskets, hoses, trans mount, rebuilt drums, new springs and shocks, new tie rod ends.

Seats and dash are excellent. Tires very good. Everything under the hood is like brand new and is warranted. Interior is excellent! If I were going to keep her, I would have her wet sanded and buffed out. Paint is a 7 , but I am very critical. Cowl door should be re striped.

I encourage you to come have a look and take her for a drive.

The ONLY reason that I am selling this great car is because I just bought a 1970 SS with a 4 speed which was on my bucket list! I am 52 years old and survived open heart surgery earlier this year and the Mrs told me to go buy my 4 speed.

If you want a car that you can drive for many years, worry free, this is the car for you! You won't be disappointed! I am sure I have missed something, and I am no mechanic so I included a pic of the specs on the car as well. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! Shoot me an email with any questions or to schedule a day to see the car.

Will also consider trade for 1966,67,68, or 69 Chevelle SS of equal value or as part of a deal. No other trades accepted, sorry!

I can help with scheduling shipping as well. I like Reliable Transport.

Spring is here, and this is a car that you can drive cross country tomorrow with confidence!

Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts

Fri, Jan 27 2017

The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
