Ok guys, if you have a wife or girlfriend that will need some convincing now would be the time to break out the candles, nice bottle of wine, soft music and maybe even some chocolate covered strawberries to seal the deal!

Up for auction is my Chip Foose inspired 1972 Chevelle convertible that took almost three years to complete and has only been driving less than 2500 miles since completion.

This is not a true ss car. but everything on it looks to be one. all the emblems, dash, grill, bumpers, gauges.

You will love my Baby! I would drive this car anywhere, it has place in every show, usually 1st or 2nd. I am not trading, the only reason it is for sale I am selling to buy our retirement home we are wanting, so some of the toys have to go.

DRIVETRAIN:

New small block 350 4 bolt main ZZ4 crate motor with 355 horsepower, custom drive shaft, holley carb.,Hooker super comp ceramic coated shorty headers, Flowmaster mufflers, full 2 1/2" exhaust with a pre-fabricated X pipe, 12 bolt posi with 3:42 gears (new seals & bearing), 200R4 overdrive transmission, 2200 overdrive transmission, 2200 street stall, four core aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, trans cooler, K&N air filter, new high torque mini starter, new battery, new alternator, new everything!!!

BRAKES & SUSPENSION:

Quick ratio steering box, rebuilt front end with new ball joints, tie rods and bushings. Hotchkis front & rear sway baars, F-41 style boxed upper and lower control arms, lowering springs, all new front & rear brakes (slotted & cross drilled front rotors, brake master cylinder & booster, brake  lines, rear drums, shoes, hardware and more)

WHEELS & TIRES:

American Racing 17" Torque Thrust II polished wheels front and rear with Goodyear Eagle F1's 245/45/ZR17 in front & 275/40/ZR17 in rear.

BODY & PAINT:

Chip Foose inspired two tone paint job, silver and black with red pin stripping. New cowl hood with SS hood pin kit. The firewall has also been flattened relocating the heater box to the interior of the vehicle. The convertible top, hydraulic lines, motor and real glass have all been replaced. There are some very superficial scratches in the paint just from normal use, but not one single ding or dent.

OPTIONS:

Vintage air conditioning (ICE COLD), tilt steering column, center console with horse shoe shifter, SS Dash with gauges and 5500 redline tach., power disc brakes, power steering, power convertible top, AM/FM cassette player and more.

INTERIOR:

Almost the entire interior has been replaced. New carpet, new sun visors, new door panels, new rear panels, new arm rest pads, new rear view mirror, LEATHER front and rear seats (NOT VINYL) Grant steering wheel, new seatbelts and much more.

Original owners manual-Protecto plate and part of a build sheet.

The Chevelle runs and drives excellent with a very raw crisp sound from the exhaust upon acceleration, but yet very smooth and quite at idle. the Chevelle also turns on a dime with its lowered suspension 2" front and 3" back and heavy duty sway bars. I can go on and on about the car, but you will have to come and experience it yourself.

Look closely at the bottom of this car, the detail, the workmanship! This is not been spray painted for these pictures. Look at the fine detail of the door jams, smooth as new born baby butt.

The bad...light scuffs by the hood pins, but would buff out. The drivers window has real light scuffs, would not show up on pictures. The tach has stopped working, just have not had time to look into that.

The Chevelle will be available for inspection anytime. With so much done to the car I am certain that I have left something out, but I will assure you this car is very high quality driver with less than 2500 miles since it was completed. The Chevelle receives compliments every time she is out on the road or at the local car shows. I have researched the pricing of the 71-72 convertible Chevelles and found they range from about $20k-$40k+, but none that I have seen comes close to this beauty. Imagine finding a solid Chevelle convertible and then building it from the ground up such as this and see what kind of money you will spend. It will be much, much, much higher than my asking price.

I will answer all emails as quickly as possible and post the answers as I go. Make sure to have funds available prior to bidding and I reserve the right to end the auction early due to local listings. I will help you get car transported anyway I can, but all expenses and arrangements are buyers responsibility.

I am located within 15 minutes of downtown St. Louis, MO. I can pick you up from Lambert Airport with prior arrangements.

Don't miss out on this one.

Call me anytime at 618-530-3725

THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK!!

Cruze Diesel Road Trip reveals the good and bad, but no ugly

Tue, Mar 31 2015

Most of us have strong opinions on diesel-powered cars based on our perceptions of and experience with them. I used to thoroughly dislike oil burners for their noise, smoke and lackluster performance, and the fact that they ran on greasy, smelly stuff that was more expensive than gasoline, could be hard to find and was nasty to get on your hands when refueling. Those negatives, for me, trumped diesel's major positives of big torque for strong acceleration and better fuel economy. Are any of those knocks on diesel still valid today? I'm not talking semis, which continue to annoy me when their operators for some reason almost never shut them down. At any busy truck stop, the air seems always filled with the sound – and sometimes smell – of dozens of big-rig diesels idling endlessly and mindlessly. Or diesel heavy-duty pickups. Those muscular workhorses are far more refined than they once were and burn much less fuel than their gasoline counterparts. But good luck arriving home late at night, or departing early morning, without waking your housemates and neighbors with their clattery racket. No, I'm talking diesel-powered passenger cars, which account for more than half the market in Europe (diesel fuel is cheaper there) yet still barely bump the sales charts in North America. Diesel fuel remains more expensive here, too few stations carry it, and too many Americans remember when diesel cars were noisy, smelly slugs. Also, US emissions requirements make them substantially more expensive to certify, and therefore to buy. But put aside (if you can) higher vehicle purchase and fuel prices, and today's diesel cars can be delightful to drive while delivering much better fuel efficiency than gas-powered versions. So far in the US, all except Chevrolet's compact Cruze Diesel come from German brands, and all are amazingly quiet, visually clean (no smoke) and can be torquey-fun to drive. When a GM Powertrain engineering team set out to modify a tried-and-true GM of Europe turbodiesel four for North American Chevy Cruze compacts, says assistant chief engineer Mike Siegrist, it had a clear target in mind: the Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2.0-liter diesel. And they'll tell you that they beat it in nearly every way. "I believe we have a superior product," he says. "It's powerful, efficient and clean, and it will change perceptions of what a diesel car can be." The 2.0L Cruze turbodiesel pumps out 151 SAE certified horses and 264 pound-feet of torque (at just 2,000 rpm) vs.

Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.

Seventies super-salesman challenges new car-sales record

Wed, Feb 21 2018

Some of the fondest memories from my youth were the Sunday afternoons spent walking between rows of new and used cars. This preceded the advent of widely available internet, so the cars didn't sell themselves online: A tentative buyer had to come see the cars in the metal, with old-school salesmen taking well-earned smoke breaks after putting someone behind the wheel of a new Saab 900. All-inclusive subscription services were unheard of. If you open a Guinness records book and look up car salesmen, you'll find Joe Girard. The definitely old-school Detroit salesman regularly sold over 1,000 new cars per year, with a particular high point of 1,425 cars in 1973 guaranteeing him a mention in the Guinness book. To reach that kind of sales figure, you had to be a pretty special salesman, and Girard was. He didn't take breaks unless absolutely necessary, and even his lunch hours were dedicated to selling more cars instead of shooting the breeze with other sales persons. By 1977 he was worn through, having sold over 13,000 cars in his career, and his physique couldn't take it anymore. He's been a motivational speaker since. Now, 44 years later, a Dearborn, Mich., Cadillac and Chevrolet salesman named Ali Reda has reportedly broken Girard's record. The books at Les Stanford Chevrolet Cadillac say Reda sold 1,530 new cars and 52 used cars in 2017, averaging 130 vehicles per month. But after Girard, 89, heard of the sales record, he called his attorney, not letting his record be broken without a fight — or at least an audit. The Dearborn dealer isn't too concerned about Girard's doubts, at least according to Gary Stanford, whose father founded the dealership. "It's very official, trust me," said Stanford to the Detroit Free Press. "Ali is the hardest worker I've ever seen. And if someone doesn't believe the data, well, they're more than welcome to consult with GM. It's all there in black and white." What Girard doesn't get is that Reda was honoring him with the accomplishment. "I read his book, 'How to Sell Anything to Anybody,' and it said it would teach you how to become the best," said Reda, who at age 44 was a newborn when Girard hit his peak. "He's an absolute legend in the industry. Your whole career, you're chasing his name.
