1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Ss 402ci, 4spd **matching Numbers** --- Not A Clone! on 2040-cars
Dudley, Massachusetts, United States
Up for auction is a beautiful 1972 ground up restoration with all items completely rebuilt or new. It has flawless paint (black/gold stripes) with vinyl roof (mint condition) and is a matching numbers vehicle. Yes, this is a legit SS with a LS3 402ci paired with a 4spd Muncie transmission. It is for the most part original with the exception of aftermarket wheels and several chrome/high performance parts. It has 410 gears and clutch replaced in 2005. The interior is in great conditon except for a small tear in he driver's seat. For anyone seriously interested in this vehicle, I can scan/email you a copy of the appraisal written back in 2006. I also have additional pictures available but the listing only allowed me to put 24 pics on here. I have over 100 pics in all. If you want any pics of anything specific, I can get those as well. The vehicle was appraised in 2007 for $47,000 and the vehicle is in better condition now than when it was appraised! The engine compartment was not repainted/refreshed until this past Fall. As the pictures show, the car is trophy material. This vehicle is being listed for a close friend of mine. Oddly enough, while he has been the owner for the past 8 years, the car was owned by my father-in-law back in 1974 (he sold it to buy a wedding ring.......yes, bad move, I agree) and a couple other local car enthusiasts prior to him purchasing the vehicle in 2006. The vehicle, ever since 1972, was owned by locals within roughly 20 miles from the original showroom floor (Knight Chevrolet in Southbridge MA). The vehicle did not originally come with the gold stripes. Those were added in the early 1990's personally by the owner, who worked for a local well known auto body.....they look amazing. This Chevelle is accident free and hopefully finds a new owner who will appreciate it as much as the past owners have. I'll be adding more details this week but if you have any questions in the meantime, I'll certainly try and get them answered ASAP. Again, since all the owners are locals, I can likely get any/all questions answered fully regarding the history of the Chevelle. On Mar-28-14 at 13:56:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a few things to add so I don't get the same questions over and over.......... ~~ No trades unless it involves a bank check for the sale price. Again, since somehow I still get at least 3-4 requests for trades each time this listing is renewed........no trades so please don't ask. ~~ Please do not email me stating something like, "How much if I pay you CASH.....?" I'm just wondering, how else does anyone plan on paying? I don't take IOU's or checks from other countries, etc. ~~ The current owner is in no position to "need" to sell this car. He is looking for space in his garage and doesn't use the vehicle enough to justify it taking up the space. He is not selling it due to any mechanical issues with the vehicle, personal financial issues, etc.......just moving onto something new, that's all. Thanks so much and best of luck bidding on this incredible toy/investment. Personally, I wish I could afford to buy it and who knows, if the listing ends early, maybe it's because I finally got the right scratch ticket!! I'd certainly move some things around in my garage to find space for this head-turner! Oh lastly, I was hoping to not have to put this in the listing but based on the number of email I receive regarding the subject I feel I should address it.....please don't email me with your own personal opinion as to the value/price of this vehicle. I would never in my life tell someone what they should be asking for something they are selling. If you feel this price is too high, that's perfectly OK, you are certainly entitled to your own "expert" opinion but please keep your thoughts to yourself.....some of the emails I've received are certainly less than professional. The appraisal was for $47k so while appraisals tend to be high, the asking price is within the "reasonable" category from how I see it.....especially with no "need" to sell this beautiful investment. |

GM recalling 15k midsize pickups over leaky brakes
Mon, Jun 8 2015General Motors has announced a recall in coordination with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration related to the brakes on the 2015 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. In the 14,838 units in the United States estimated to be affected, the front brake calipers may be leaking fluid. Needless to say, that could make them less effective, which could hinder the vehicle's ability to stop in time to avoid a collision. The affected units were all manufactured between January 6 and December 24, 2014. The fix seems simple and straightforward enough, with dealers being instructed to inspect the front brake calipers, and replace them if necessary. See below for all the details from NHTSA. RECALL Subject : Brake Fluid Leak Report Receipt Date: MAY 12, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V278000 Component(s): SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC Potential Number of Units Affected: 14,838 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to December 24, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience the front brake calipers leaking brake fluid. This is due to air pockets, an imperfection in the metal caliper body. CONSEQUENCE: If the vehicle experiences a brake fluid leak it can increase the stopping distance, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the front-brake calipers if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 10, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14888. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. Tue, Jul 29 2014Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels."
