1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Concours Estate Wagon With Ss Trim Package And More on 2040-cars

This 1972 Chevelle wagon is Very Clean and Nice. A very thorough resto-mod was done a few years ago including the Super Sport style trim and big block hood. The hard to find tilt steering, roof rack and rear window air deflector were added options.

The wagon has cold air conditioning that is converted to a 134a system.

New tires are mounted on the Corvette Rally wheels. The receiver type hitch was installed to tow a boat to the lake for family fun. An additional right side gas tank was also added where the spare tire well is. The spare is now under the floor in the rear storage compartment.

The 2-way tailgate works great and of course the rear power window works fine.

Nearly all the weather strips, window seals and channels were replaced when the car was repainted. For all you Numbers-Guys, the paint code is 26 I think the color is called Mulsanne Blue.

Great car to drive. Impeccable care and maintenance has been given. Look Very close at ALL photos. This is an above average Chevelle, ready to enjoy!

The level of quality here makes you wonder why would anyone buy a “new-car” when they have no personality and no resale value. These great cars that were made up to 1972 had style, dependability and value. This an investment quality Chevelle.

The "book numbers" suggest where the price would be for an average car of this make and model. Since this one is certainly above average, take a look at the numbers and I think you get an idea where the value of this Chevelle should be.

NOTE: I did not enter the odometer reading. I could do this, but I don't even know for sure if it is an original speedometer or not. Seems to me that if I have not had a car since new and have no original documentation that it is correct, I should not post whatever it says, so I don't.

My reserve is very reasonable for what you are getting here.

I have MANY photos I can share for bidders. Including chassis, floors, rockers, bottom of doors, any areas I can reach with a camera, I can send a photo.

ALSO Included is a custom-made fitted matching color water replant cover. Yes, I have a road test video as well. I am not sure how to include a link here.

Good Luck Bidding!

Thanks for all the questions. Hope a few more details help!

The front suspension and steering has been rebuilt, new bushings, springs, ball joints and shocks. New center link, tie rods and idler arm. Heavy duty sway bar on front with new links and bushings, yes it also has a rear swap bar. The rear end is the LARGE GM 8-bolt. I have MANY photos of the chassis and enough details so you can see original sheet-metal under there that still has the original blue paint visible to show it is authentic.

Many more photos can be sent but I am not sure if I can attach them to the reply. Let me know if you want more info or pictures. Happy to send it all.

The intake is an Edelbrock with a Holly spread-bore vacuum secondary electric choke carb.

Reserve is at the upper end for an original car if you look at price guides, that is where we are with this one- This nice, hard to find. There was one that sold the other side of 20 grand. I think I need to be right in that area. Already turned away a couple of real solid offers. You need to reach a little deeper to make it happen.

Thank You for all the interest and I hope my replies to every email has helped.

Chevy reveals Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition

Sat, Mar 7 2015

Chevrolet wants to make sure that if people are in the market for a midsize pickup, then there is a Colorado available to fit their desires. For businesses, there's the recently unveiled box delete package and for those looking for a customized look, there's the GearOn Edition. For the latest Z71 Trail Boss version, the automaker is going for folks planning to go off-road. As the name suggests, all Trail Boss versions of the Colorado start with the already off-road-inlined Z71 trim level, including its 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed automatic, and the package can be added to practically any body variant: extended or crew cab, long or short bed and rear- or four-wheel drive. To set things apart, there's a locking rear differential, front tow hooks, darkened 17-inch wheels that are shod with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires and on the four-wheel drive models, a transfer case shield. For some extra style, the Colorado Trail Boss wears black parts for the fender flares, side steps and Bowtie badges. The bed also gets a spray-on liner and a few parts from the GearOn accessory catalog, including the tie-down rings, load bar and cargo divider. The Trail Boss goes on sale in the spring, and to add all of this equipment to a Colorado, it costs $3,320 in addition to the price of any Z71 trim model. The Trail Boss combines the capability of Chevrolet's Z71 off-road truck suspension package with more aggressive tires and additional appearance enhancements. It is offered in extended and crew cab configurations, with a choice of a long or short cargo bed and available 4WD. The Trail Boss goes on sale this spring with a starting price of $28,505 plus the package price of $3,320. "The Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition is equally at home blazing an urban trail or following one to a favorite remote campground," said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager.

Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?

Mon, Feb 9 2015

An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. Check out the 60 Minutes video on the CBS site (you can watch the entire video from a mobile device without logging in). The OnStar hacking starts at 6:45, but it's worth watching what leads up to that. News Source: Jalopnik Chevrolet Safety Technology Infotainment Autonomous Vehicles Videos Sedan hacking 60 minutes

GM: Without LG Chem, we couldn't build Bolt EV [UPDATE]

Wed, Oct 21 2015

It's absolutely no surprise that General Motors has a thing for LG Corp. The Detroit automaker and the Korean parts supplier have been working in public on electric vehicles ever since it was announced that LG Chem would supply the battery cells for the Chevy Volt in 2009. LG Chem was even named GM's 2010 Supplier of the Year. But, yesterday, the connection between the two companies was strengthened with the announcement that LG Electronics would be supplying a number of components for the upcoming Chevy Bolt electric vehicle. The Bolt is expected to be able to go about 200 miles and will carry a price tag of about $30,000 (after incentives) when it arrives in 2017 or so. LG's new components can be found almost everywhere in the Bolt. They include the battery pack and the battery heater, a new motor, the power inverter module, the electric climate control system compressor, the on-board charger, high-power distribution module, the accessory power module, and power line communication module. Oh, and then there are LG Electronics' advanced display technologies like the new instrument cluster and a new infotainment cluster. LG Electronics also supplies parts for the 4G LTE OnStar system, just like it does in other new Chevys. If that all sounds like a lot of components to you, you're right. Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, said that without the expanded relationship with LG, GM would not be able to bring the Bolt to market (insert old ironic quote link here). "I think GM was lacking that [electrification knowledge] in a very complete way for many years, I'll just be frank about that," Reuss said. "I also think that on an electrified basis, this requires a long-term commitment and trust that sometimes is violated on a more short-term, regular, traditional basis. I think we have found something completely different with LG and I think that has become a widely talked about and duplicated want from our purchasing and corporate standpoint with our supply base." The "this" that Reuss is talking about here is the OEM-supplier relationship, something has evolved with the LG-GM situation. Previously, the automaker-supplier relationship used to be more like a dictator telling underlings what he needed, Reuss said, and that was a bad idea. "Today's competitive landscape requires a different approach, especially in electrified vehicles," he said.
