1970 Chevrolet Chevelle on 2040-cars
Lublin, Wisconsin, United States
The car only has a little over 5300 miles since being completely redone, and, only approximately 1000 miles since a
professionally installed Chevrolet Performance crate ZZ502 engine was dropped in. This engine has the aluminum
heads and is nothing short of exceptional in performance and "oh so smooth" during the cruise.. The nice thing
about the crate ZZ502 is you know exactly what is in the engine, the exact performance and that it was put together
correctly by the factory. And, the best part, this engine runs on pump gas.
Obviously you get the serpentine belt system, aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, headers, hi torque starter and
the ever important Air Conditioning--and she works perfectly and blows cold! She breaths thru 3 inch exhaust with
Flowmaster 50's. These mufflers still let out a growl, however, they still allow you to hear yourself think--and
most importantly--you can carry on a conversation with your significant other or passenger. I have the mufflers
dumping ahead of the axle for one reason----I think it makes the rear end of this car so sexy and clean! Needless
to say, she starts quick when cold or hot, idles perfect and cruises awesome.
The transmission is a 5 speed Tremec which is an awesome tranny for this engine. You have the lower gears for fun
time but yet with the 5 speed you have the low RPM for cruising down the interstate.
The interior of the car is also redone with beautiful seats, carpeting, dash, redone gauges, glass, the roof was
re-stretched and of course the 4 point seat belts. I do have brand new lap belts if you wish to install those
instead of the 4 point belts. All windows are new and clear, door windows (both front and back) roll down and
back up effortlessly, all gauges have been upgraded to Dakota which brings a classy upgrade to this girl and all
lights work as they should. There is also an installed security system controlled by a key fob.
The rear tires are Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S 275/40R20 and the front are 235/40Z18. The 5 spoke black rims
showcase the excellent stance to this Chevelle.
Of course the car has been upgraded to 4 wheel disc brakes.

A hybrid and electric Corvette, plus we drive the Ioniq 5 | Autoblog Podcast #728
Fri, May 6 2022In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. Zac drove the electric 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Greg drove the fire-breathing 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo. The two dive deep into the relatively heavy news week by starting off with a discussion about the upcoming hybrid Corvette before chatting about what the electric Corvette might be like. They have a chat about the possibility of Porsche and Audi officially joining the Formula 1 field. Then, Greg and Zac get into some quick-hitting news to round out the segment by dissecting the updated Kia Soul (now without a turbo), the 30th Anniversary Edition Land Rover Defender and the new CEO at Aston Martin. Following the news and drive reviews, they rope in Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder to give them a quick download of what went down at the first drive for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Finally, they reach into the mailbag and answer some questions from someone who is less than pleased about infotainment systems in some new cars. And lastly, the gang hears back from someone they helped out in a prior Spend My Money segment on the podcast. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Bob Lutz builds the case for a mid-engined Corvette
Fri, Jan 16 2015Rumors of a mid-engine Corvette are like automotive industry folklore at this point. Every once in a while, news pops up that it might be happening or is under development, but nothing actually ever comes to fruition as something people can actually buy. The latest spy shots strongly suggest a mid-engine 'Vette is in the cards, yet again, possibly for 2018. Now, an op ed by former General Motors executive (and definite performance car fan) Bob Lutz in Road & Track gives the inside scoop on the history of one of these proposals and lays out how to make it happen today. According to Lutz, the company's engineers believed the C6 ZR1 was at the limit for front-engine, rear-wheel drive performance in that package, and the only solution was to move the powerplant behind the driver. Lutz even got then CEO Rick Wagoner on board. The scheme made it at least as far as clay models for mid-engine versions of the 'Vette and Cadillac XLR. Eventually, a lack of money got in the way, though, bringing the project to an end. Lutz puts a lot of faith in GM's current leaders, especially Mary Barra and Mark Reuss. He thinks the chances of a mid-engine 'Vette happening this time are better than 50 percent. The model, rumored to be named Zora, could offer over 700 horsepower in an ultra lightweight body and be priced at about $120,000 to "suck the doors off everybody." Head over to Road & Track to get some insights from this highly respected and entertaining auto industry veteran. Related Video:
First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
