 This car is the one you have been looking for; a frame off nut and bolt restoration with a beautiful mirror glaze finish. This car has just about all the original sheet metal, I replaced the 2 front fenders and the previous owner replaced the lower trunk floor. The cowl hood was in excellent condition before blasting, what a great find. Floor pans needed no work as well as the right quarter, the left has a butt welded small panel above the wheel. The bumpers are OEM, triple plated with a life time guarantee from Keystone. This exceptional paint job looks a mile deep.

Here are a few of the new parts installed on this car;

  * MOTOR This motor has about a 1,000 miles on it, and has a dyno sheet with it. 353 HP and 467 ft-lb torque

  * EXHAUST  21/2 inch polished stainless steel from Pypes

  * WHEELS These are factory style aluminum 15" with new BFG tires

  * INTERIOR All is new with original dash

  * TRIM Most of the chrome is original and has been polished.

If you have any questions call CARL at  608-868-4360 or E-Mail me at ckortte@charter.net. This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel this sale at any time. This car is sold as is with no warranties.

The Volt Dance had precedent; meet the Chevy Footlockers

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Marketing in the auto industry can get weird sometimes – really quite bizarre, in fact. For example, remember the Chevy Volt dance from the 2009 Los Angles Auto Show? If not, a group boogied to a song about the electric car, and it was every bit as awkward (and hilarious) as that sounds. In fact, that innocent bit of promotion lives in infamy, as some pundits grabbed hold of it during General Motors' bailout and asked why America's tax dollars were going to such things. The Chicago Auto Show has been digging through its vault of vintage videos, and it has come up with something that might actually be worse than that Volt-themed routine. They're called the Chevy Footlockers, and they're a dance troupe somehow promoting the Cavalier at the 1988 Chicago show. The connection between the car and their routine is unclear, but it's gloriously cheesy in a Chippendales-meets-AC Slater sort of way. Also, there are props towards the end, but we aren't going to spoil them for you, because you just have to watch for yourself. As a bonus, there's another (brief) clip below showing a female dance group with the Geo Tracker at the '91 Chicago show, and they sing, too. Scroll down to watch both of these oddities. Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! GM to trim Russian output, raise prices amid currency woes

Thu, Feb 5 2015

General Motors is shutting down its factory in Russia's second largest city, St. Petersburg, from the middle of March until the middle of May as the country's currency, the ruble, continues to give economists fits. The ruble's value has plunged due not only to western sanctions, but a precipitous fall in oil prices. We knew these factors were already impacting the auto industry there, as Ford reported in its 2014 earnings statement, and now they're forcing GM to cut production at the factory, shown above, that is responsible for production of the Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra. Meanwhile, Automotive News is citing Russian outlet Kommersant as saying that GM has hiked its prices in the country by an average of 20 percent over the past two months. While a GM spokesman confirmed the St. Petersburg plant would be shut down for the two-month span reported by Kommersant and AN, he would not confirm the price increase.
