1970 Chevelle Ss 396- 2 Build Sheets!! - F-41 Suspension - New Paint on 2040-cars
Stillwater, Minnesota, United States
Up for bid is a real SS 1970 Chevelle from Washington State
with 402/ 350 HP, TH 400, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, 12 bolt 3:31 Posi,
and F-41 Hi Perf Suspension. If you like some originality, this has it. It is
showing 66,500 miles and based on the
wear of the original interior; it just may be original. The carpet and package
tray are the only items that were changed to black, because I was going to
switch the interior to black. Seats and door panels are very good for being 44
years old, but the dash and pad show their age. Aftermarket stereo and gauges
work well. ENGINE--It's a 402 1972 CE which is a warrantied counter
exchange from GM. It has an aluminum
intake, holley 750, hooker headers, flowmaster mufflers, good oil pressure and
never gets hot. Turbo 400 feels like it has a mild shift kit, firm but does not
bang. BODY-- Car was stripped to bare metal and has PPG base/clear
correct #48 code forest green paint. Floors, trunk, rockers, and frame are
totally rust free and solid. The hood,
deck lid, and doors have flat pinch welds with no sign of rust. One area that had rust was behind and around
the rear wheels and drop downs. They
were repaired with the idea that a full resto would be done down the road. The
way we use these cars - the repair will last for 20 years. This car is VERY
straight and the gaps are far better than most Chevelles. Window stainless was
sent out to polish when glass was removed, and the windshield is new. Underside
of hood is chassis black with clear, and hood hinges are plated gold zinc. It
also has new wheel well mouldings, SS emblems, all 4 marker lights, and park/blinker assemblies. Trunk has fresh spatter paint with clear coat and was solid
with no repairs needed! MECHANICAL-- This car sat for years before I got it and many
things were done to make this a reliable driver such as: new specialty 15" SS wheels 8" rear
and 7" front with new BFG tires, alignment, gas tank, 3 line fuel pump, brakes,
pinion and axles seals, alternator, and new AC Delco battery, etc. This car
could now be driven anywhere in the country.

Plug In 2014: VIA makes the case for 'free' plug-in hybrid work vans, trucks
Fri, Aug 1 2014If you're a fleet manager who's been waiting anxiously for the chance to buy a plug-in hybrid van from Via Motors, your wait is almost over. If you work for the right fleet, anyway. David West, the chief marketing efficer for VIA Motors, took AutoblogGreen for a ride around the San Jose Convention Center in a Via van sporting an Electric Blue paint job as part of the Plug In 2014 Conference this week and gave us an update on how things are coming along. The big news is that the Via PHEV van production is going to start by the end of September. Via can currently build two vans an hour at its production plant in Mexico, or about 16 a day and could easily double that. "That would get us to 20,000 a year with two full lines running," West said. "We have the capacity." "There is no way gas can compete with electric." – David West, Via Motors But they can't sell that many quite yet. By the end of December, around 350 Vans will be made, mostly for a $20-million program from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District that will see the vehicles used by fleets that will report energy data to the Idaho National Lab. Via is also finishing up CARB certification for both the van and the company's plug-in hybrid pick-up truck. About 50 percent of Via's technology in the truck will not need to be tested again, since it's the same as what's in the van, but things like crash tests will need to be done twice. Despite the progress, this is not where Via hoped it would be today. The bankruptcy of battery supplier A123, "took about a year off our timeline," West said. "It's been getting a little slow getting it to market, there have been some challenges, particuarly since we had the country's worst recession right in the middle of this wrap up, but it's inevitable in my mind. There is no way gas can compete with electric." Maybe that's why FedEx has expressed an interest in buying around 5,000 units, West said. FedEx already has some pilot vehicles, just like Verizon does, and PG&E wants to replace all of their gas trucks with electric vehicles, which would be another 3,000 sales, he said. Besides the fuel savings, vehicles like these, with easy on-site power generation, could also work wonders in post-disaster situations, he said, since they could replace the need for generators.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable
Tue, 01 Oct 2013What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
