1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Survivor
Matching numbers car with 325HP/396 engine, TH 400 transmission and 12 bolt rear end. Power steering and power brakes. Original Rochester 4 barrel carburetor. Cranks, runs and drives and stops great. 126,000 original miles. Special order paint, Carolina Blue.
Car was purchased in July 1969 in Statesville, NC and stayed there until 1993 or 1994. Moved to Georgia where it stayed until 1998 or 1999 when it moved to OH for 10 years where it was garage kept while waiting to be restored. The owners never got around to it and it was sold to an Alabama owner where it was garage kept for the last 5 years.
Car has never been apart so build sheet is still in car, but I have original dealer invoice, NC inspection sheets, protecto plate, owners' manual and one set of never used original keys on the dealer's keychain.
The car is a real survivor and almost completely original, including paint, bumpers, interior, tinted glass, trim and wheels (wheels have been restored). To my knowledge, only exhaust, radiator, brakes, belts, hoses, tires and air cleaner have been changed from original. I don't believe engine has ever been out of car. Original AM radio, heat, lights, wipers, signals, etc. all work great. All gauges appear to work properly. Fuel gauge started acting funny today but worked fine until now. Needs one headlight and a taillight bulb replaced.
It needs a headliner, the Chevelle emblem on front of car, a clip on driver's window handle, a small tear in the driver's headrest repaired and a new latch for glove box. Paint is not good but is original Carolina Blue special order (documented on invoice). Stainless is great. Wheel well molding trim is really good but has a couple of dings.
Car is remarkably solid and straight with only surface rust other than very small places in very bottom of rear quarters just behind rear tires, inside bottom rear corner of passenger door and inside driver corner of trunk lid. No bondo or other body damage that I can find. Bumpers are very straight but need rechromed. Underside of car has only surface rust. Car has plastic inner fenders that I was told were factory installed and they need a couple of epoxy patches.
Car is currently registered in Alabama and they don't title cars that old. I can sell via bill of sale and registration or have an open OH title.
Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early at any time. $500 deposit due via paypal within 24 hours of auction end. Balance due via wire or cashiers check within 5 days. Car should be picked up within 2 weeks of auction end unless prior arrangements are made.

Recharge Wrap-up: BMW cars to share i tech, Jordan to build solar EV charging network
Wed, Jan 14 2015Jordan is looking to promote EVs and build a solar charging network. The country is waiving import tariffs on electric cars, and is spending $120 million on solar chargers. It plans to build 3,000 charging stations, along with 30 MW of solar power. Some chargers will be powered by solar canopies, while others will get electricity from nearby solar farms. Jordan's solar plan should also help to lessen the amount of energy it needs to import from nearby countries. Read more from Navigant Research, or at Green Car Reports. BMW's mainstream cars will benefit from technology borrowed from the i3 and i8, according to BMW sales head Ian Robertson. In an interview with Automotive News, Robertson said that next-generation cars will use carbon fiber more extensively, and that more cars will get plug-in technology. He said that about half of i3 buyers opt for the range extender and added that it is incorrect to refer to a range-extended electric vehicle as a plug-in hybrid. Read more at Automotive News. The ethanol market should remain healthy despite falling oil prices. While cheap oil could drive down ethanol prices, demand still remains due to the federal biofuels standard. Additionally, ethanol producers may find it cheaper to ship their products as domestic oil production drops and railroad shipping opens up. Ethanol byproducts like distillers grains continue to sell, and foreign demand continues as other countries impose their own renewable fuel standards. Read more at Yahoo News. GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles
Tue, 06 Aug 2013General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
