This car will need a FULL resto. it's an orig SS 396 with 4spd Red with White stripes and Red interior. The orig frame cracked on both sides behind the front wheel wells and was replaced with a 68 frame. So it now has a 10 bolt posi with 308 gears and a Th400 in it that was in the 68 frame. There are no coolant lines for the trany and the driveshaft is in trunk. The motor Runs Great, no smoke or wierd noises, rebuilt Q-jet, HEI dist new plugs wire's cap and rotor. NO interior don't know what happen to it but it does have the factory mounts for the console and the bucket seats. It has p/s but pump is gone but i have the brackets. it has Power Front disc brakes and i put a rebuilt master on it but didn't bleed the brakes yet and i still have the orig Master (casting number 5468309) and it is stamped with (BA)the SS big Block code on it. It has full 3in exhaust with hooker comp header with 3 1/2in collector. i looked up the casting numbers 3969854 on block and they come up 69-71 396 350hp. the carb numbers 7029207-1494 come up 1969 also but the motor is Not the Orig one. car was last on the road in 1987. it has 72,110mi on it. big block car's tach Redline at 5500 as does this one and the wiring under the dash is Orig and not cut up as if someone put the tach in later. I dont have any documentationon on the car saying it's an SS. The car has been off the road since 1987 and they didn't make many repo parts back then and the SS trim on the dash looks to be Orig. if i had the Doc's i'd be asking alot more. it is what it is. the VIN is 136379G309321 and PLEASE don't email me and tell me a 136 is Not an SS. in 1969 they NO LONGER USED 138 as a code for an SS, do your homework. they were ALL 136's. it will need lower 1/4 panel's and the outter wheel well's on both side's. trunk has one very small spot of rust i used a Yellow grease pen to outline the rust in the pics. both door's have rust in the front bottom corner's i have a good driver's door. Two small rust spots on floor, again outlined in Yellow. One spot about 1in wide by 1 1/2in long in the top front rocker panel under the door. you have to open the right door and look down. It will need lower windshield panel replaced. dent in pass door but i'd replace it cause of rust anyway. lower right front fender was patched will need to be redone Below the bodyline. driver side is good. Hood has no dents or Rot just surface rust. roof just has surface rust and some small dents. Under back seat is rust free. back window looks good too. All the body mounts are rust free. New right hood hinge but no spring. The Grill is from a 68 but i have the 69 Grill.. I had a guy come look at it who has restored alot of 69's he didn't want it because of the lower 1/4's but he said he's 95% sure from what he saw it's an Orig SS. He also said ALL Malibu's had long molding going down from the Eyebrow all the way to the wheel well opening. The SS did not. and there are no holes filled where the Malibu's molding would be. if you look in OPG' catalog page 125 at bottom right of page the Malibu has the long molding SS does Not. Also same as for the back panel of the car. No hole's filled where the Malibu would be on the right side just the SS in the middle. I have to many pics to put up here so email me and i will send you all i have. Any Question let me know. thanks

Valet mode captures joyride in red Corvette
Thu, Dec 18 2014A man in California is among the first to catch a valet behaving badly in his 2015 Corvette using a controversial built-in recording feature. Dan Cowles told KTLA 5 when he bought his dream car, a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, he opted for the Performance Data Recorder. The Corvette PDR uses a high-definition camera mounted in the windshield header, a microphone in the cabin and a GPS receiver that record and track the sports car's movements and sounds. They work together to produce a video with telemetry overlay, so you can see acceleration rates, lap times and g-forces. The system can be customized to show extensive performance data, or simply video of your drive like a traditional dash cam. It also comes with Valet Mode, which locks the glove box, disables entertainment and records video. The audio recording feature ran afoul of several state's recording consent laws, but this video has no audio, indicating the fix may have been as easy as turning off the microphone. Cowles dropped off his hot red 'Vette with the valets at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts in Costa Mesa, CA. When he got his car back he checked the PDR and discovered footage of the valet taking a short, but intense, joyride in the garage. In the video, the valet finds a straightaway in a tiered parking garage and pushes the car to 50 miles per hour in five seconds before quickly stopping. He then parks the car without incident. The valet then gets out of the car and takes one more admiring look at the front. The valet company has yet to commented on the video, according to Fox News, but valets everywhere should be on notice; that little red Corvette you have your eye on may have its eyes on you. GM puts 3 million miles on hydrogen fuel cell test fleet
Mon, May 12 2014Have General Motors' hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles emitted enough water vapor over the past six-plus years to equal the steam coming out of Old Faithful? Not exactly, but GM has released a few figures related to the Project Driveway initiative it began in 2007. The numbers are impressive, if not quite of the geyser-spouting variety. In all, the General converted 119 Chevrolet Equinox SUVs to run on hydrogen, and those vehicles have just collectively surpassed the 3 million mile mark. And if you were waiting for us to tell you that the distance equals a half-dozen round trips between the earth and the moon, well, there you go. The better news is that the SUVs have combined to save almost 158,000 gallons worth of gas, and some of the vehicles have more than 120,000 miles on them. More than 5,000 drivers have participated in the project. GM reached that landmark about 10 months after it announced that it was working with Honda to accelerate the development of hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain technology. The two companies estimated last summer that it may have something to sell to the public as soon as 2020. For now, you can check out General Motors' press release below. GM Fuel Cell Fleet Tops 3 Million Miles Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell vehicles driven in real world reach milestone DETROIT – General Motors' fleet of fuel cell vehicles recently passed 3 million miles of hydrogen-powered, real-world driving. Some individual vehicles have accumulated more than 120,000 miles. By GM's estimate, using hydrogen to power these vehicles, the fleet has avoided 157,894 gallons of gasoline consumption. This specially equipped fleet of Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles are part of GM's 119-vehicle Project Driveway program, which launched in 2007. Since then, more than 5,000 drivers have provided feedback on the functionality and drivability of fuel cell technology. "Hydrogen fuel cell technology is an important part of GM's advanced propulsion portfolio and we continue to make substantial progress in furthering this technology," said Charlie Freese, executive director of GM's global fuel cell engineering activities. "These vehicles have operated through seven full winters and a wide range of environmental conditions, proving that fuel cells can meet the demands of real-world drivers." Last year, GM announced two fuel cell-related collaborations.
Recharge Wrap-Up: LAPD gets Zero MMX, Chevy's new inverter, Hyundai Tucson's new powertrains
Wed, Jul 16 2014Some police in Los Angeles will be riding Zero MMX electric motorcycles on duty. The LAPD is adding the fully electric police/military all-terrain bikes to its patrol fleet. According to Officer Steve Carbajal of the department's off-road unit, "It costs less than 50 cents to charge compared to using gallons of gas, maintenance is simple, and the community appreciates how quiet they are." The electric bikes, with their lack of noise and a headlight the rider can turn off, also have the benefit of stealth, giving the officers what Carbajal calls "an added tactical advantage." The MMX also has swappable batteries, is designed for quick ignition and has power reserve capabilities so the rider won't be caught with a dead battery while chasing down a perp. Read more at Ride Apart. Remember when it seemed like we'd never run out of oil, and giving your buddy five bucks for gas was actually a worthwhile gesture? Drivers of classic cars in Detroit were able to fill up their tanks at gas prices corresponding to their model year, thanks to a promotion by Hagerty Insurance for National Collector Car Appreciation Day on July 11. That meant prices from 21 to 90 cents a gallon, as the cars that showed up ranged from the years 1929 to 1989. That's about as affordable as charging your EV. Head over to Autoweek for more details and some photos from the event. The next-generation Chevrolet Volt will likely benefit from a new inverter being developed by General Motors. GM is about two-thirds of the way through the development of the new inverter, which should be ready in January 2016. The inverter, which has a peak output of 55 kilowatts a continuous output of 33 kilowatts, will be adaptable for use in other GM vehicles. Chevrolet is working to reduce the Volt's production costs by $10,000 per vehicle, which should make it more affordable, and the new inverter could help reach that goal should it make its way into the car. Read more at Green Car Reports. Hyundai is likely planning some interesting powertrain changes for the 2016 Tucson, says Green Car Reports. Plug-in hybrid? Maybe. Diesel? Probably not. "We are covering the waterfront on all alternative fuel strategies, from standard hybrid, to plug-in, battery-electric, and fuel cell," says Hyundai's US Chief Dave Zuchowski.
