For Sale is my 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle two door coupe. I purchased this vehicle in December of 2004 in Georgia and drove it home to Virginia to begin the restoration process. The vehicle has SS badging and correct 1968 SS stripes but is not an original SS. I would describe this vehicle as more of a pro touring style restoration. It is first and foremost a driver but has won several awards at local car shows here in Central Virginia. The car is garage kept and has only seen rain when I got caught out in it. The car is sorted out mechanically and only needs a few minor interior and chrome pieces to be finished. I will be putting new front and rear bumpers with new mounting hardware and lenses on in the next week or so. This vehicle is not perfect but I did not restore it to be a trailer queen. I wanted something I could drive and enjoy along with showing it at local car shows. Below is a summary of the work done to the vehicle but does not cover all upgrades. I would venture to guess that you could not restore this car for what my reserve is set at.

- Dec 2004: New KYB front shocks installed

- Dec 2004: Four new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires installed

- Dec 2004: Front suspension rebuilt with Polygraphite Super Kit and new sway bar bushings (both from PST)

- Dec 2004: Prothane motor and trans mounts installed from OPG

- Feb 2005: Front disc brake conversion kit installed from OPG along with new rear sway bar

- Feb 2005: New power steering box installed

- Mar 2005: Installed new rear srings and boxed in the rear lower control arms

- Mar 2005: Installed new disc brake lines

- April 2005: New Cragar Street Pro 390 wheels mounted from Newstalgia Wheel

- May 2005: Car was taken to bare metal and resprayed in new red paint color (call me and I will provide details as to everything that was done)

- Mar 2006: New Flowmaster exhaust system installed (complete system with H-pipe)

- April 2006: New Eaton posi traction rear installed (3.73 gears)

- April 2006: New KYB rear shocks installed

- June 2006: New big block oil pan and gasket intalled from OPG

- Oct 2006: New ceramic coated Hedman headers installed

- Jan 2007: Engine completely rebuilt (again, call me and I will provide further details)

- Mar 2007: New front light and engine harness installed

- Mar 2007: All new Autometer gauges and carbon fiber gauge panel installed (from Covans Classics)

- April 2007: New 7 inch dual brake booster installed

There are many other smaller items that have been added to this car and I have a 1 1/2 inch thick binder with most receipts of everything done or purchased for this vehicle. Included in the sale is a spare hood, hood springs, center console, new dash switches, and a few other items that are hiding in my garage. Again, this is not a trailer queen but rather a very nicely restored 1968 Chevelle that you can get in and enjoy. I have a clear title for this vehicle and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Call Steve at (434) 566-1455 anytime.

This car is sold as is with no implied warranty. Shipping or pick up is the responsibility of the buyer but I will help any way I can. A $1000 deposit is required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The remainder is due within 7 days. Cash or bank transfer is preferred. If paying by bank transfer, I will sign the title over once the funds have cleared and are in my account. I can keep the vehicle in my garage for you as you arrange pickup. Please call if you have any questions. This really is a nice car that only needs a few minor things to be finished (in my opinion). Thanks for looking.

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.

GM, Pilot will build EVgo fast chargers at 500 truck stops across U.S.

Thu, Jul 14 2022

All of our maps showing electric vehicle charging stations across the U.S. are going to need an update. Today, General Motors, Pilot and EVgo announced plans to work together on a nationwide DC fast charging network. The plan calls for 2,000 charging stalls that can deliver up to 350 kW to be installed at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J travel centers in the U.S. The goal is to have DC fast chargers available in 50-mile intervals across the country. The new charging stations will feature GM's "Ultium Charge 360" branding and "Pilot Flying J" logos but will not be limited to drivers of GM EVs. The plugs will use CCS connectors and be available to anyone. GM EV owners can take advantage of benefits, including the ability to make exclusive reservations, get discounts on charging costs and streamline the charging process with Plug and Charge and in-vehicle apps that can provide real-time charger availability. The first installation phase will take place in 2023, and "the bulk of the installations" should be completed by 2025, EVgo CEO Kathy Zoi said during a conference call with reporters announcing the plan. "We're gonna get going immediately and commence all of that engineering and planning stuff," she said. "We've got a pretty orderly plan." Pilot CEO Shameek Konar said the company expects the new EV charging stations to coexist with the current fuel infrastructure. "An average Pilot Flying J location is about 10 acres," Konar said. "This will be in addition to all of our gas pumps. The way I think about it is, this is a new source of energy that is going to coexist with gas for quite some time. We can debate how long, but we need to serve both groups of customers." Installing DC fast chargers at hundreds of Pilot's travel centers — aka truck stops — means there should be food, drinks, restrooms, WiFi and even showers available while you wait for an EV to charge. Pilot recently announced its “New Horizons” plan that will invest $1 billion in upgrading Pilot travel centers with more premium amenities, including expanded seating and lounge areas. While the exact amount of time it will take to charge an EV using these new stations will vary on the EV and its current state of charge, most EVs can refill from a low state of charge to around 80 percent in 20-30 minutes on a fast charger. The new stations are future-proofed to deliver up to 350 kW, a charge rate that few EVs today can handle.

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers

Fri, Oct 31 2014

If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
