1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Very rare matching numbers (136 Vin) Original 283 V8 with a Muncie 4-speed! 57,000 Original miles! Garaged its whole life! Needs nothing!
This is one truly beautiful low mileage, period correct, numbers matching 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 136 vin car! The car runs strong and shifts smoothly. The body is in fantastic condition, interior is pristine and all of the trim and wheels shine brite! This car is a real treat to drive and is well appreciated at local car shows. I purchased this car in June of 2012, my father and I are avid classic car enthusiasts and purchased the car as a project. We have done all of the work on this car ourselves. The car is believed to be a four owner car. The car was originally owned in N.J. I have documentation of its original purchase at Todd Chevrolet, Inc. in Perth Amboy, N.J. on 05/31/1967. (Todd Chevrolet was located in down town Perth Amboy, NJ back in the 1960's. It moved to a larger location around 1971, however was bought out by Sansone Chevrolet back in the 1980's.) The original owner had the car from 1967, up until the mid 1980's selling it to another gentlemen in N.J. whom kept it garaged until 2012. I purchased the car from a gentleman in Conneticut in June of 2012, the gentleman purchased the car from the second owner in N.J., and had the car for only a couple months before selling it to me. When I purchased the car it was in its original color Mountain Laurel Green and had a two speed power glide transmission. The car had been painted green a second time when it was acquired by its second owner back in the 1980's. The car was in very solid and nice condition when I acquired it, however my father and I decided to paint it a more appealing color, convert the car to a 4-speed Muncie and make a number of other upgrades to the car. We painted the car with acrylic enamel Kirker brand Candy Apple Red. The body is all original. At the time of repainting the car, aside from repairing a few small dings around the car, the only area of rust/rot we discovered was on the trunk floor pan behind the rear wheels wells. We repaired the trunk floor pan, and refinished the trunk. The candy apple red paint is glossy and shines bright. Since the restoration there are no scratches, dings, or dents on the car. The car is going on 47 years and looks great for its age, the car is very presentable, however this is not a frame off restoration and it does not have a multi thousand dollar paint job. There are a few blemishes and imperfections in the paint that can only be noticed with very close inspection. This Chevelle is extremely sharp looking and a very solid driver, great for pleasure driving, great for taking to area shows and cruise nights. The car has its original 283 V8 engine, with 57k original documented miles. Never rebuilt to our knowledge. Runs very strong. I have the original title, owner's manual, GM protecto plate, and original 1967 sales/loan paperwork for the 1st owner. Rochester 2 barrel carburetor and its original period correct air cleaner. The interior door panels, dash, dash pad, head liner rear seat, seat belts, steering wheel and interior trim are all original and in excellent condition with no cracks or damage whatsoever. All lights, gauges and latches work properly. The car has its original jack and a new spare tire. The car has power brakes, power steering. The brakes are original style drum brakes all the way around, which are in good operating condition. The doors, trunk and hood all open and close properly with ease. All the door, trunk and hood gaps are nice all the way around the car. All lights, gauges and features of the car are in working order. Further upgrades we made to the car are as follows: Converted the car to a 4-speed Muncie M-20 transmission (The M-20 has a 1968 date code), with a Hurst Competition Plus Shifter, knob and boot. Installed a new clutch, new fly wheel, period correct 1967 bell housing and pedal conversion kit. New rear shocks. New Fisher door sill plates. New brake master cylinder. New chrome side mirrors New window felts, vent window seals, door and trunk weather strip gaskets. New rear bumper, Chevrolet valve covers, New engine valve seals and carburetor rebuilt. New hoses and belts. Engine painted, inner fenders, radiator support and engine compartment painted and detailed. New full dual Flowmaster exhaust system with chrome exhaust tips. Car has its original exhaust manifolds off the engine. New HEI electronic ignition. New front and rear shocks. New carpet, new front seat covers, restored the seat backs and tracks, new tachometer, new Pioneer AM/FM CD player and console. New rear interior deck panel. New Malibu emblems on the rear quarters. New rear tail light bezels and rear back up lights. New trunk mat. Added American Racing Torq Thrust polished aluminum wheels, 16x8 in the front with p225/50R16 Bridgestone Potenza low profile tires, and 17x8.5 in the rear with p255/50R17 Fuzion low profile tires. Wheels are all in excellent condition, with no scratches, curb rash or damage, and tires have excellent tread. The car is for sale locally as well. Local bidders are welcome to come look at the car in person. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is sold locally. Please only bid if you are a serious cash buyer and have the money to buy the car! Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of the car. I will assist in meeting the buyer and getting the car to the buyer or shipper for pickup. If you are planning on bidding please feel free to e-mail me directly via eBay with any questions. I will provide you with my phone number, e-mail or call you back directly. Thank you for your interest.

GM recalls Colorado, Canyon, and Malibu for airbag problem
Wed, Mar 9 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall and issue a stop sale on 1,740 total examples of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, Malibu, and GMC Canyon. This includes 1,579 units in the US and 161 in Canada. The Problem: The second stage of the driver front airbag inflator might not be present. If this happens, the airbag won't fill as quickly as it should in a high-speed crash, which could increase the risk of injury, according to Reuters. This is not related in any way to Takata's inflator problems, and these parts come from a different supplier. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: GM will replace the vehicles' airbag assemblies. If You Own One: GM spokesperson Tom Wilkinson told Autoblog he wasn't specifically sure when recall repairs would begin but said it would be "shortly." He expects the fixes to happen "quickly" because of the small number of affected vehicles, and many of them are either in transport or already in dealer stock. More Information: GM recalled the 2015 Canyon and Colorado in 2014 for a completely separate airbag issue. In that case, a manufacturing error improperly wired the connectors. Related Video: GM Statement GM is recalling 1,579 MY 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the United States and 161 in Canada to replace driver-side front airbags. The second stage of the airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. During a routine quality inspection, it was determined that a component required for a second-stage/high-output deployment was not loaded during the inflator build. Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag assembly. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls.
GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles
Fri, 04 Jan 2013As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]
Thu, Jun 12 2014The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.
