The car is a 1967 SS Super Sport Chevelle convertible. It was built in early January 1967, the serial number is 138677B1464622 and the actual mileage is 64,861. It has always been a North Dakota car. It was picked up personally by the original owner on July 5th 1967 in Pontiac Michigan. The car is an all numbers matching car, including engine, transmission, rear differential and frame. Most all the replacement parts were either NOS GM parts or reconditioned original parts. It has had an ultra high quality full rotisserie restoration that has taken almost five years to complete. Every nut bolt and washer has been reconditioned, replated or replaced. All component parts were removed, media blasted and refinished to appear as original. All the known factory markings have been put back on the frame and body as it was done originally. The car was reassembled in the order it was done originally. It has a professionally (machine shop) rebuild original 396 cubic inch, 325 horsepower V-8 engine. it has its original M20 Muncie manual four speed transmission and its original Muncie shifter. It has its original 12-bolt 3:38 ratio rear differential. The frame and body were separated and both were media blasted down to bare metal using coal slag as not distort any of the metal parts. The frame was then primed and top coated using POR-15 in the original semi-gloss black finish. The body was primered in its original red oxide type primer and the recoated with sixteen coats of PPG Marina Blue lacquer paint. The manual convertible top and boot was replaced with the correct style and quality as was used originally. The car has power steering and an original factory tilt steering wheel. It has manual brakes and a front bench seat with a full set of five reconditioned original seat belts. It has the correct era Delco 12 volt battery. The convertible top was disassembled, then powder coated in its original black semi-gloss finish. The full SS hub caps are NOS. Anew set of five Goodyear F70-14 polyester red line tires were used as original. The tire jack is in NOS condition. It has its original reconditioned blinker tach, the electric dash clock and heater controls are NOS. It has a complete new exhaust system (purchased from Gardner Exhaust). The system has all the correct hangers and bends in all the right places. All the chrome has been rechromed or replaced with original parts. The original bumpers and guards were rechromed to look as they did when new. All the stainless steel trim has been professionally polished. It has all new brakes and brake lines. The gas tank and gas lines are all new. The interior has been completely replaced, including seat foam, carpet, door panels and seat covers. It has a new heater core and a new four core radiator. It has four T-3 headlights and all new turn signals and lenses. The radio has been reconditioned and the original speaker has been reconed. I have a the original build sheet and copies of the titles of the two previous owners. It has its Protecto Plate. Driven only 10 miles since it was refinished. The car has been stored in a controlled environment since completed. I will include a set of  five 14" rally wheels and NOS center caps if you prefer the look of the more sporty rally wheels. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!  A great investment in a real muscle car!

Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]

Wed, Dec 3 2014

Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website. Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.
